What I don't understand is, why are other teams siging NBA free agents and the Pelicans have only signed guys forigen guys. Maybe they tired but with no success. Who knows, anything is better than nothing.

He made team USA due to an injury and now he is an All-Star. When things are meant to be, it happens. It has been to long since we had an All-Star (well not that long) but the first in a Pelicans uniform. Maybe after the All-Star game we will see a better and more motivated AD (team leader). Congratulation, you derserved it a week ago.

All I have to say is AD is a BEAST!. I think the time has started to believe in him as a leader. Reke showed that last night, by not forcing the shot and trusting in AD. I hope to see more from this duo.

@Steven J Gordon takes more then a quarter off, sometimes it may be the whols half that he decides not to show up. He plays a part time game but gets full time pay. that lucky bastard.

Hopefully Darius Miller gets alot more playing time after this game. I wouldn't mind him moving into the starting line up. I hate that we have all these injuries, but it will have Monty a look at what others can do.  He might be surprised by what he has sitting on the bench.

@ericsnow We don't need more shooting (right now), we need defense. We can have as many shooter as we want, but if none of them play denfense the end resuly will be the same. A lose. Playing defense will turn into easy offense.

Man I can truly understand what Ryno is dealing with right now. Feb 2013 I suffered from a herinated disc in my lower back from a injury I had when I was in the Army in 1999. This was some of the worse pain I have experienced and it crapped me for almost 3 months. This is a injury that gets better with time and pain meds. I can honestly say, that since that happen my back has not been the same, but I have osteoarthritis in my lower back as well, so that's probably more of the problem than anything lol. I hope that Ryno fully recovers, because this can be an annoying injury.

@Nithenz Portland is the only team to have the same strating 5 every game this yr. We have yet to have a game with the full foster. But I see good things in the near future.

He already he may be slighty better then what we already have coming off the bench. He did pretty damn good for only being with the team a day. Once he gets comfortable and gets a few more pratices under his belt, it will be all good. I think he will felt in nicely. Just gotta cut back on the stupid fouls. You cant teach 7'2" but you can teach him this offensive and defensive system. I cant even lie, I'm excited and glad he is on the Pels.

Finally over .500 Christmas has come early. Glad NBAtv decided to stay with that game, great win.

I was listening to the broadcast through ESPN via the Bulls commentors and didnt realize that over the past 4 seasons this team has had 55 different player, thats crazy, but finally have a team that will be together for a few years.

9 months, 2 weeks ago on New Orleans Pelicans Win a Marathon in Triple Overtime Against the Bulls

Monty finally realized that to be a successful the floor will need to be spaced. I loved the lineup change, teams cant just pack the paint. I hoped Aminu would have a better season then last year, but that doesnt look like it will happen and I think he may not be a Pelican must longer (he had his CHANCES). I agree, I would much rather Rivers over Roberts. Last night in about a minute in a half span Roberts had a turnover and two fouls. He can shoot thats about it, he is 27 and he is what he is and thats all we are coming to get outta him. Its time to move on from these two.

9 months, 3 weeks ago on Monty tightens Rotation as Pelicans handle 76ers

Can somebody PLEASE get this in the hands of Monty so he can read this. I think he is a smart man and would at least give this a try for a few games. What does he have to lose, his job. That already in progess at the rate this team is going.

9 months, 3 weeks ago on Should Ryan Anderson be Starting?

Reply

I have one question why didnt we go after Derek Williams? Hell we could have gave up Aminu just say easy as the Bucks gave up who ever that guys is.

Would this trade work, Gordon and Roberts for Deng? The Bulls are now in need of scoring guards and we need a 3. This is Deng last year under contract I think.

I don't feel Monty should be nervous, because he has had four different teams each year he has been here. He finally has players that will be here for a couple of years. He will finally have a chance to coach instead of teach. I think this team will improve through out the season barring injury.

I wouldnt trade Ryno. 3's are very important in today's game and we have one of the best in the league from his position. Unless we could get his quality of shooting or better. And he is cheap on top of that.

@Aussie Pels Fan Its not Monty's fault they stop driving and setting for jumpshots. When this team attacks they build 10+ pts leads, and we they shoot jumpshots they lose. We have the tools but they put them up after the 1st qtr.

@nolahog I agree with u as well, Roberts is all offense. And rivers is a much better defender. I hope they are just showing Roberts off, so they can trade him SOON. I like his game and all but if this is a defensive we aint cutting it

I was at the game last night and the Magic players we hitting damn near every shot even with tight defense. We miss damn near every shot even the easy ones. And I agree that Withey should get more mins, can't learn how to play NBA ball if your not on the court. His future is brighter then those other two guys who names I don't need to mention. Once Ryno comes back, we will see the team we were hoping to see the team we saw in preseason, but thats 3 or more games away.

I'm not  happy that they lose, but it a good learning experience. After having a good preseason they were riding high, but tonight showed them that it's real and they have to stay focused. They we riding high but that was a humbling lose. Orlando may be in trouble tomorrow tonight, I will be at that game to see it happen.

And tonight showed why we won't trade Ryno. Pels only shot 11 3s, Ryno can do that alone.

I now live in Orlando and I watched Austin Rivers play a few times in high school. I was happy when we drafted him last year. He has the work ethic of a star NBA player and the pedigree. I cant wait to see him in two years. But I cant wait 4 the Pelicans to play the Magic, I will be there showing my hometown support.

Do you think River has a chance a being a All Star at one point in his career?

@Michael McNamara Now I would go with rebounding. We have scorers all over the court so somebody has to rebound. I'm down with bringing AFA back, and hopefully signing D Wright and we still get a shooter as well. AFA will fit in perfectly, all he has 2 do now is play D, rebound, and run the floor. With all the ball handlers we have now he wont have to dribble much at all, he can just be a slasher.

To be honest I think they should go after Josh Smith, he can play 3/4/5 depending on the situation. He would make this team better and ready to make a run. He is at he prime of his career and loads of playoff experience.

If you look at the Saints offense, it wouldn't be hard to say that Benson wants a team that can run and score. The offensive goal of that Saints' is to put up points at least 40. So I think there will be a lot of running this season. FINALLY!!!

I can believe that Mario Chalmers is nowhere close to being a top tier point guard. What was the last time to win a championship with a point guard, the Lakers. You just need a point to get into the offense, penetrate and don't turn the ball over. Scorers win championships.

@revdrbflow @Major504 Just think about now Vasquez developed this past season 2nd in MOP. Now think about a more athletic player developing in that same system, that has sent players all over the NBA in a starting or supporting role on playoff teams. And there are decent SFs we can get and Cs. Free agents, trades, sign and trade. Small piece to a outstanding puzzle.

@Clef504 They gave it up because Pels plan on being in the playoffs and I can see that happening the more this off season comes together. You would rather have  19 yr old project over a 23 yr old all star. Where they do that at?

This trade is about defense. Vasquez can't play defense, he isn't quick nor does he have a 6'7 wingspan. I love Vasquez, but defense wins championships.

@Caffeinedisaster I have two words for you Kevin Durant. I thought he was too skinny and would get pushed around but as we all have learned, he can handle himself on the court. Not saying Porter will be that caliber of player but he has a high basketball IQ for a 20 yr old guy. So I think his weight won't be that much of an issue.
