One thing we should keep in mind when we look at young players like Nylander. If he dominates in training camp, is he able to sustain his level of play through 82 long games. He is only 18...

@Burtonboy @Ze_theLeafsFan last I heard was that he was with a team in the KHL. But he was a good player, he produced points. Hard to believe that he has no job, even if it was a depth role. I remember when he was playing 25 minutes a night.

Sometimes, I don't understand at all the attention Carlyle/Gardiner situation  The coach is supposed to push its players. Even if Randy liked Gardiner, he doesn't have to be nice to him. In a way, he is doing it for Gardiner's long term benefit. Pushing him could make him better.

It's clear that Randy is doing some of the things for Gardiner's own good. I mean, amongst D-man, he got the second most minutes. I understand this a bit more, because I was raised in a similar way, you gotta go through up and down to improve and sometimes tough love can be good.

@wiski @DeclanK I would think so. It looks bad when it feels like the chief has a personal vendetta against the mayor. If you investigate him, do it in private, don't make everything public... not until everything is finished...

@Cameron19 You look at a team like Anaheim, they've lost prospects and players for nothing, but they are still very competitive team and have a lot of good pieces in the pipeline. That's something that the Leafs should emulate.

If a trade were to happen for the Leafs between now and the start of the season, I highly doubt it will involve any of Kontiola, Booth, Santorelli, Komarov or Winnik. These guys were just brought here. I would think Ashton could be the odd man out. Even Franson

@Alec Brownscombe @Ze_theLeafsFan I think Clarkson will rebound. He can get 40 points. But anything more than that is not very realistic.

You know what I like about this off-season, they finally figured out that they can use bottom dollars to sign depth players. No more 3 mills for Armstrong or 3.5 for Finger.

@dlb Mad Well ANA is staked, they don't need them. They got good players themselves and have loads of good prospects. Regarding Booth, he was making too much money
