@IcyCup I think Staal showed last season, and in the postseason, he looks to be past his injuries.

@Josh-CK Interesting you mention that: before the playoffs, it looked like AV had phased out Hagelin and didn't have a role for him. Could be tougher to deal him if he's this important to success. Or...his value is really high and could fetch something in return. Will be intriguing to watch it play out.

If we're comparing bodies, I'd have to say I'm Chris Kreider just a miniature version (5'10'' 182) of him.

Who's being dramatic? I'm merely pointing out Kreider is important. Is he irreplaceable? Hardly. Just comes at a rough time.

Real simple: he was afraid of playing inside because he didn't want to suffer a third concussion in a calendar year. Looks like he's slowly getting out of that mindset.

If you're dealing for Yakupov, Kreider can't go. Otherwise you're swapping offense for offense which is a puzzling, lateral move.

Appreciated Fraser's opinion on the Galchenyuk goal. But check out his answer to the Kreider interference call. He claims it'll get called every time especially on the PP. I've never seen that call before in over a decade of watching hockey.

This is what the players wanted: a kindger, gentler voice. Rather than be punched between the eyes from honest Torts' criticism, they preferred to be stabbed in the back by AV and his backhanded comments.

@johnnyb3910 Cap hit would be wiped off the books for both because their contracts were signed before the age of 35. Would do the org. a big favor but I doubt it happens.

What Stepan and his camp need to realize is the reason why players like Duchene, Skinner and Henrique cashed in early is the markets they play in: Colorado, Carolina and NJ. If those teams don't dish out big money to sign their young talent early, they'll lose them to UFA for nothing. McDonagh's deal doesn't fit into this equation because the market for young, quality D-man is completely different.

Stepan's production warrants he gets paid somewhere around $3.5 million per on a bridge deal. But to push it this long into training camp over a few $100K is a bit ridiculous.

@AG_Blue @jasonshyer I think with Eminger the org. feels they can get the same type of play from younger, cheaper players. Signing him again could block another prospect from moving up. Not a knock against him.
