"Similar to the last two Rangers captains, McDonagh is not a fiery, emotional leader, but he possesses a Messier-like stare that will put fear in opponents and inspire his teammates."

Got chills when I read that...perfectly said Kevin...couldn't ask for a better long-term captain...In Mac We Trust baby

@Purinton I would agree but he is still only 22....next year if hes not ready than I think we can call him a lost-cause. If he is at least not a viable call-up this year, if one of our dmen get hurt, than ill start to worry also. With how tight our cap situation is, I wish he was playing well enough for Slats to be comfortable enough to trade Staal before the deadline. I think that is almost definitely going to happen.

Is this trade far-fetched?

To Pittsburgh: Jeff Skinner

To the Rangers: Evgeni Malkin

To Carolina: Marc Staal

@KevinTheNYRBlog @gravey94 It has become a forced habit for those 2, it is a major thing we will miss from Brian Boyle.

MSG played the replay of game 3 vs Philly a few nights ago, Boyle had 3 blocked shots in a row on a Penalty Kill, than was able to get up and start a short-handed fast break. While I do believe he got paid a lot (too much), it is going to be hard to expect Malone/Glass/Lombardi to do those things, but I hope I am wrong!

@Rangers_54 AWFUL...that #4 jersey is a jinx

…it must be the number because Kostka was Del Zotto-like last night. And by that, I mean God awful.

I literally said that same thing to a buddy of mine during the game...he shoots it right into the defenders and wears #4

Chicago has a good eye for talent in the draft, I dont think anyone can argue that, if they took this kid in the first-round than I am all for the signing. However, let's not get too excited, this kid most likely isn't the deal breaker for our cup chances..This kid surely makes up for the picks we traded, as Sather has already done a great job of recovering via college free agency.

@GiveGartneraCup Good point, there is value in knowing and playing your role on the team. Dorsett and Boyle wanted a bigger role, and maybe on a team that DIDNT MAKE IT TO THE FINALS LAST YEAR (that felt good), they would have it...but not on this team.

See a lot of Glass-haters on here...I am sure many of you (as well as myself) complained that this team showed a lack of emotion at times during the year...there may be added value with him in a blueshirt jersey than if he went and put on a jersey that has a team with 1 or 2 emotion guys in the lineup; personally, other than zucc, I cannot name one player on our roster that brings life to the team with a hit or a fight.

We sure as well were not going to be happy if we ever re-signed Prust to the money he got, the only thing I can contend with is that we should have just kept Dorsett, however, we did get a draft pick for him.

I think we need to give this Glass guy a chance before we rip him...Sather has had a great off-season and I find it hard to believe he didn't know what he was signing when it came to Glass.

I would not mind getting DelZotts back for cheap...coming from someone who HATED him, the fact that we got Klein for him makes me more comfortable reacquiring him for cheap. I am sure he hates the Rangers by now though, so I am sure Philly will offer him 4 mill/year and he can get crushed in the corner by....oh wait, who the hell is gonna throw the body on this team??

Rangers need to hope Zuccs takes a NY discount, he realizes this COULD be the highest his stock ever gets in this league and want to take the largest deal he could get. I'd like to think he loves playing in the Garden, the fans love him and he plays great in front of the NY crowd.

@kevin11 A long contract spreads the money over many years, making the front-end portion a bit more feasible more times than not. A long-term deal would most likely give them MORE money this season to re-sign players and have a bigger burden at the back end of the deal.
