5 months, 3 weeks ago on Sather Blames Lack Of Offense And Puck Possession On Tortorella, Not Himself
@Betweentheworlds @jgaray @spin0rama I do think Gabby got a bad rap but how can u say it did not get better after the trade. They looked like a different team with the added depth
6 months ago on Bylsma Could Go to Top of Rangers List: Expect to Talk With Ruff
@Betweentheworlds @spin0rama agreed but if the locker room had turned on him to the extent that has been reported what real choice did Sather have? I wish things turned out differently but when you loose the locker room its almost impossible to come back
@Betweentheworlds @jgaray @IcyCup Yes but Jags has really matured as a player. See how he was out their at the end of the game when they were just trying to hold on. coach must really trust him
@Josh6 I liked Torts as well and if it wasnt for REIMER we would still be playing. At first i was upset about tort being fired but once i realized he lost the room nothing else matters. I might not like how it happened but its better to bring in a new coach then to have a bunch of players thinking the coach does not get their game or that he is hard to play for. He is a great coach but when Sather found out about the frustration in the locker room he really had no other choice
@IcyCup %100 agree
I dont mind a player who is chippy. Mess was one of the dirtiest players in history. But he did not cry when someone did something to him. Imagine if Jagr did that to CINDY they wud have gone nuts. Ovechkin can be dirty at times but if a guy takes a shot back at him he takes it and gives one back.
Maybe we really were the 2nd best team in the east put up a better fight the Pitt.
God dammit Reimer if you could have made a save in the clutch we might still be playing
Bylsma really maximizing his talent.
Keep crying CINDY
@Hotfreak @KevinDeLury @gravey94 he would not be alone Nash Hank Girardi
6 months ago on Eakins Not A Systems Guy; Vigneault Has Experience With Media Scrutiny
@jslnyr1102 @shishya100 Yes there is no doubt Blysma is a really good coach and has been successful with malkin and crosby hurt. But the bottom line has to be his lack of success in the playoffs. The last 3 years they failed to make it to the 3rd round. And they might not even win a game there this year either. The Rangers don't need a presidents trophy ( wud b nice) the need a CUP. And I don't think he is the guy to get us there.
@_Jackthat 3rd line with miller is a little small I admit but having a 4th line like
Pyatt Boyle dorsett line can be used as a checking line when needed
@_Jack If torts was still the coach skinners size and defensive short comings would be more of a issue but with a new system skinner may be a great fit. With skinner the top 3 lines could be
Skinner Stepan Nash
Kreider Brassard cally
Hags Jt Miller Boyle? zucc(or maybe Ryder if possible)
@_Jack Well if he goes to the KHL then I guess the point is mute. But that was rumored 2 years ago so who knows.
But about skinner is he small sure but he is the same size or larger thansome of the best players in the NHL
Martin St. Louis
so could size be an issue sure but that does not prevent him from deleloping into a great player. His rookie year his size didnt hurt him
@Ted Kazimiroff I'd wonder if in the case the Rangers do choose Mess to be the coach (which is a huge gamble ) if the wud keep sulivan and scoenfeld on staff to help with X's and O's
@scrangersfan I agree about Gonchar's age but at 39 I would think he isn't looking for more then a 1 year contract similar to Jagr's last two contracts so its not real risk. He still gives up a SHOT FROM THE POINT on the PP. but if he want more then 1 year no way.
@scrangersfan I agree Staal is great but Skinner's upside is a little higher given its a huge risk especially his struggles this year however he is only 21. he is younger then Krieder which is something to keep in mind. But our defense held up in the playoffs and maybe adding Gonchar for the power play Staal absence won't be as significant. Putting Skinner with Nash and Step has the ability to be a primer 1st line plus stepan and Nash both two way players can help offset Skinners shortcomings defensively.
And a Krieder Brass Cally 2nd line has great potential as well. Its fun that we may have consistent lines again.
@scrangersfan Did i Say him and Mess are on the same level by any means. He is the greatest leader in nhl history as far as I'm concerned. All I said is not all successful leaders have the same leadership style.
@scrangersfan Staal going to Carolina is just an assumption and may very well be true. But Marc is a classy guy and I feel he would let Sather know that him leaving is a legitimate possibility just as Jordan did. IF that is the case then I think you have to make the call.
I've noticed that their had rumors jeff skinner cud be had for a top pair defenseman. Under Torts this would never work but assuming Staal has a real interest to go to carolina the rangers may want to get something back for him like the Pens with Jordan Staal. I've seen some carolina fans say they wud do the trade straight up. I thought it may take a little more maybe Staal and the rights to Zucc for Skinner? Our defence was not the issue this post season without Staal despite how good he is. And if they buyout richards they may be able to bring in a Gonchar for the power play and as an extra defender if Mcilrath isnt ready. This is all assuming Marc has a legitimate interest in leaving NY and going to Carolina which may not be the case.
what does everyone think.
