I have a pit bike, and it came around because I started racing and my teenage son decided he'd start racing, too. Since we were in the same class (Cat4/5 sloths), well... two bikes it is.
Since then, he's not ridden much and I've gotten rid of the MTB and road bike and all I have is 'cross bikes. So... pitbike.
And yes, it has saved me on two occaisions. Except going to Worlds. then I just drug around a bunch more crap.
I think a Union would be cool... Nice Guys on Bikes Local 3.1415 or Global andInternational Brotherhood of Thinking Fellas (yeah, I hadn't thought out the acronym).
Agreed. Be nice to people, regardless of what they ride or where. For that matter, just be nice to people.
That was my first USGP race, what a blast. And Tim rocking that moustache! He should have kept it. He would have looked perfect in the Papa John's Camaro.
TIm Johnson is your mustache leader!

I agree with mtbwrx . I thought it was a well-run event and kudos go to the crew or all the time and effort they put into the Ohio State Champs. I'm certainly looking forward to next year.
Ah, thank you! I purchased a Fuji Cross Pro last year and for the past year I have been terribly dissapointed in the front shifting. I tweaked it myself and then had several shops work on it. I eather had to really lean on the lever to get it in the big ring (not an option during those oxygen-deprived moments called a race) or it would irregularly toss it over the big ring. It's better now but still at times requires effort to shift up to the big ring.
Now I know to check out the derailler pulley or just flat-out replace it.
The CapCityCross group is getting their weekly mid-week practice/mini-race going but as a field service guy I rarely get to participate. Bummed.
However, on weekends there is a short dirt track nearby that a motorcycle shop uses to demo ATVs and dirt bikes. It is short - 1.5 to 2 minute laps - but it has a hairpin turn, short steep climb with turn and off-camber descent, enough straightaway for a couple of portable barriers and places for me to work on cornering at speed. I spend 45 minutes to an hour out there and then ride the hour and half loop on the roads where i string together the short but steep hills around here. During the week I try to hit local MTB trails with the 'cross bike, time-permitting.
Ack. Harbor Freight no longer carries.... must... find... substitute!
Last season was my first season to race 'cross - or anything, for that matter. Mid-race of the third race that season I was exchanging places with a kid who rode MTB and found that he was gapping me through the turns and corners, while I made up ground on the straight sections. That was a big "a-ha!" moment for me. Now to go outside and work on that.
Congrats to Barry indeed. Good form, dear boy.
Happy that I made the top 5 (or so...). Very happy. Oh well. Maybe I'l just keep it and use it later. Or sell it on eBarf...
