Good luck to the blue boys this year.  I love them.  I'm all for a clean slate.  Talking about a clean slate, can we please stop the Torts bashing and move on.  He did many good things for the team.  Same thing for the Vancouver people bashing A.V. -- stop it.  These guys are good coaches.  Get some perspective.

He played miserably last year and he's the one who's mad.  It has to be the coaches fault, right Richie?  Anyone could see how dreadful Torts felt when he had to bench Richie last year.  Enough is enough.  Move on.

@shoot_the_goalie @WisconsinRangerfan12 This whole thing is blown way out of proportion.  I read the article.  He wasn't being mean, just honest.  I imagine it hurts very much to get fired from a job you love so much.  I think he really cared about these guys and was shocked they turned on him.  At least Henrik Lundqvist has been gracious about it.  I'm a Ranger fan, but I wish him the best.  He did a lot of good things here.

I see nothing wrong with his comments.  I think he is the type that would rather take a spear to the chest than a knife in the back.  I think he is the type that appreciates a frank conversation.  I can't stand people who don't have the guts to say what they think to your face.   Do you have proof that he ever benched anyone for speaking their mind?  He is only interested in winning.  What else matters?  Please stop the Tortorella bashing.  It is time to move on.

NOW, he decides to get in shape.  What was he doing last year for 7 million dollars?

I have zero sympathy for this guy.

OMG.  Never would have guessed that one. Torts  tried to do all that and he still got fired. Coaches get blamed not matter what they do.

At least the Flyers didn't through Peter Laviolette under the bus.  Can't wait for October.

@FREE LINDBERG @tygalpin Due to MSG construction, the Rangers are going to spend most of the first month on the road.  If they can get through that they're home free.  That is what Chicago had to go through last year.  It will make them tougher.  I pray.

@SA24 I don't understand how someone can get a huge contract and come into the season so unprepared.  It was sad.  And don't blame Torts for everything.  Richards made his own bed.

@Josh6 Sadly, I agree with  you.  Richards deal doesn't make sense.  Let's hope everyone stays healthy and the new coach makes a difference.  By the way, Red Wings and Blue Jackets join our conference next season.  It only gets tougher.

That's right, I can say whatever I want just like you.  I said Go Bruins for the City of Boston.  They have been through hell.

I cringe every time I hear "sloppy seconds" in reference to anything.  It is demeaning in any context.  Remember this is the A.V. era and we must be positive.  By the way, happy birthday to John Tortorella and let's wish him well.  I'm tired of the Torts bashing.  GO BRUINS!

That "bottom feeder" comment made me chuckle.  Do you think the Pens or Bruins would be "bottom feeders" without their goalie?  My point being Hank needs help NOW or it won't matter.  By the way, Hank, you are simply stunning.  I am going to put this picture of you on my computer monitor and smile every morning.  Thank you, Kevin.

I'm with you 100% on your analysis.  You can talk about system all you want, but it is the skill of the players that determines their success.  Next year is going to be tough -- the Red Wings and Blue Jackets will be in the Eastern Conference.  Can't wait.

Kevin, I agree with you about Torts in Vancouver.  If anything has been learned from the Valentine mess is it's better to take no job than the wrong job.  I hope he takes the time to get some rest and reflect on the issues he needs to correct. I like him very much as a coach and hope he lands in the right situation.

The way they treated Terry Francona in Boston was despicable.  They didn't just fire him, they humiliated him.  Now, they've welcomed him back in Boston with open arms.  Like I said, memories are short.

Isn't that how it works with all the coaches?  It's amazing he lasted almost five years.  Expectations are unbelievable.  Torts gets fired for being too tough, Blysma might get canned for being too tight with the players.  You can't win in this business.  Look at the NBA, six coaches have been fired so far and many of them led their teams to playoff victories.  Coaching might be the definition of insanity.

I heard Jim Nill on the NHL Network last night.  He seemed very positive toward Torts.  Claude Julien and Pierre Maguire as well.  Perhaps, he is not viewed as negatively in the industry as you think.  I imagine MSG is filled with political minefields that we are not privy to but are well known in the industry.  There are several sides to this thing.  Quite frankly, when you slice up the blame pie, there is a piece for everyone -- from the owner right down to the players.  Memories are short and this well blow over in time.  I wish him well.

He seems like a classy, professional guy.  Too bad things did not work out this year.  Wish him all the best, but the Rangers have to buy him out this year.  Too much risk if the don't.

How about them Bruins?  Making the Pens look like chokers.  Ranger games were closer.

@KevinDeLury @WisconsinRangerfan12  Thanks for the welcome, Kevin.  By the way, I am not condoning Tort's behavior.  Even though I support him, he made some comments about players that made me cringe.  Especially, the "Hagelin stinks" comment.  However, it takes two to create a bad situation and the media was out to get Torts this year.  I think that made him defensive all year.  Basically, I think he is a decent man and a wonderful coach, but lacking in good people skills.  I had a boss like that when I worked at an advertising agency.  He could reduce people to tears with his anger and dismissive attitude.  Yet, this is the same man who cut his salary to zero so he wouldn't have to lay off any of his staff during the recession.  He could also be incredibly charming and caring.  You just don't know what is in someone's heart.  I think Tort's gave everything in his being to this organization.  It's too bad they all couldn't make it work.

I'm new to this forum, but have been reading it for months.  You guys do a great job.  As far as Torts is concerned, remember the saying "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it"? Well, I think the Rangers are going to rue the day they got rid of him.  He had this team moving in the right direction.  Four years of work down the drain.  Too bad they all couldn't resolve these issues together for the sake of the team. Boston is a finer version of the Rangers.  Same philosophy, but more skilled players overall.  They have that tough mental approach Torts was trying to instill in the Rangers.  I hope they win the Cup. It would be great for the city.  I wish you all the best, Torts.  I'll miss you.
