@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex if we do get Brandon McCarthy though we would need to improve our infield defense since he's a groundball pitcher

@Table but they would be upgrading at other positions to make up for it
@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex I really like Brandon McCarthy
@BehindOrangeLines @Disgruntled Goat Saxon seemed to say it was because the Dodgers want to get younger but his logic made no sense
@Table you're acting as if defense doesn't count for anything. Keeping the other team from scoring runs is just as important as scoring runs yourself even though it doesn't get as much fanfare sometimes.
@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex because of Sandoval's body type and he's not as good of a hitter as Donaldson
It would be extremely idiotic to not extend Hanley a QO.
Heard a rumor that the A's might trade Josh Donaldson. I know it would take a lot to get him but he's amazing defensively and has a lot of power. We should look into that which I think would allow us to let Hanley go and use a mostly glove shortstop while bringing in Uribe off the bench.

I think I know who the PTBNL is. It's Tim Federowicz!
@Lobo @- Casey - don't forget that his name is Fauxto
@exceedingly boring potato @brincon @Anime Ethier @ tomato if there's any GM that's worse than Ned, it's Ruben Amaro
@Anime Ethier @ tomato I do agree that Rollins would be a solid pickup but i don't think it would happen
@ tomato plus there's no reason for the Phillies to trade for Ethier. Phillies need more right handed hitters.
@ tomato Cliff Lee keeps getting hurt
@Table @Mike Petriello not to mention that he wasn't a good defensive catcher anyway
@Table are you just proposing that we all want but that others teams would never do?
I'm really liking Yasmani Grandal but we're never gonna get him...
@Lobo I think he have enough backups already
@exceedingly boring potato @Mike Petriello @Table he's definitely not starting caliber lol
@Table @exceedingly boring potato @ABSmileBunch I'm kinda hoping for 65/35 timeshare for Martin and Ellis next season. I love AJ but his defense at catcher has been mediocre and we all know how hit this year even if he might get better. Although Federowicz might be out of options so that's another thing to look at even though he hasn't proven he can hit at the major league level.
@exceedingly boring potato @ABSmileBunch I think that Martin's defense at catcher is way more important than you think
@Matt Kemp's #3 Fan @Mike Petriello I doubt that he improves his BB%
@Mike Petriello what are the odds that Dee Gordon is the starting 2B all year next season? Do you think his 2014 was for real?
@Tymathee @YadierMolinasOedipalComplex I heard he had gotten suspended
@Table @YadierMolinasOedipalComplex @brincon @JackedNate @Mike Petriello i think the main reason for his concern is that his BABIP was higher than his career norms and he still did worse
@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex I don't think his durability is that bad and his defensive metrics are over like the last 3 or 4 years so they mean more.
@exceedingly boring potato for now he can still be played at 3B then later moved to DH
@Lobo @BIah well he's gonna have to be since we owe him slightly more than 20 mil per year for the next 3 years.
@exceedingly boring potato yes but some of those teams have a DH spot to put him at
@foldamort @Mike Petriello @Hendrixfan1145 well nowadays teams pay about $5-7 million per win. I'm sure it was probably less back then but it was still probably a bargain.
@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex I agree that he had a bad season offensively and that his BABIP was higher than it normally is but I still think he has a chance to bounce back a little from that and some of the defensive metrics have him almost as good defensively as Andrelton Simmons.
@Mike Petriello @BIah @ tomato it's kind of unfortunate that they have so much money that they can pay the commentators to tell people during games to visit their website.
@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex @brincon @JackedNate @Mike Petriello that's exactly why signing the only good one was important
@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex Have you seen the free agent options at SS? The options are Mike Aviles, Clint Barmes, Asdrubal Cabrera, Stephen Drew, Jed Lowrie, John McDonald, and Hanley. Hardy is one of the best defensive shortstops and he still has offensive upside.
@JackedNate @Mike Petriello I think Hanley is too risky and would want waaay too much money. He hasn't proved he can stay healthy and it'll probably be worse in the coming years.
@JackedNate I don't think we'll re-sign him
I'm kinda sad that the Orioles re-signed JJ Hardy. I think that would've been a good pickup to replace Hanley.
did someone really make the case earlier that we should've used Chris Perez in the playoffs?
@corylol @deblueLostintheWilderness it's okay. you can't quantify them so sometimes you forget about them.

@corylol @deblueLostintheWilderness no it's the intangibles remember?
hey guys, let's trade Kershaw for Vogelsong because clearly Kershasw can't handle the pressure of the postseason and Vogelsong can. Kershaw must lose TWTW in the playoffs.
@Robworldwide in game 2 of the NLCS last year, Kershaw gave up 1 unearned run in 6 innings. This year in St. Louis, he pitched 7 innings allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, 1 BB and 8 K. This year in LA, Kershaw pitched 7 shutout innings allowed 5 hits, 2 BB and struck out 13. The Cardinals hardly own him
@Robworldwide you're right. Whenever Kershaw sees two red birds on a bat, he starts shaking in his unifom.
@Dodgers Nerd @nsxtasy there's no denying that he had a bad start in game 6 of the NLCS last year. However, his other loss last year came in game 2 of the NLCS when he 6 innings and only allowed 1 unearned run because of a passed ball by AJ Ellis. As far as this year goes, he dominated for 6 innings in 95 degree weather and got left in too long because we didn't have a reliable bullpen this year and then dominated another 6 inning on 3 days rest and got left in too long again because of the bullpen. Now, do the Cardinals hit better against Kershaw than most other teams? Yes. Does that mean that they own him or that he can't pitch well in the playoffs? Of course not.
@DodgerLivingInWeHo but isn't Quick better than anyone else they could possibly put in?
@DeliMan of Baseball Related Sorrow @YadierMolinasOedipalComplex I think Tommy is Puig and Joey is Ethier.
@DodgerLivingInWeHo I don't understand the purpose of pulling the goaltender
@YadierMolinasOedipalComplex You should write about how Joey is not that great of a hitter
@Dodgers Nerd @nsxtasy well since he became the Kershaw we all know and love today, he's only been in 2 postseasons. Last year, he had ! bad start. This year, he had 2 bad innings.
