i love you hockey
that's fine. Clarkson and someone will make up a 3rd good line. eventually.

McLaren in, bitch-moan-complain
if he stands around watching Bodie and Ashton and the rest get pounded on then i'll curse him for it.
but if he steps up for all those guys so they can play, then i'm a fan

come on Fenton, you have to like Leo hearing stuff like this

Holland, D'Amigo, Ashton and Rielly
as long as the other teams don't count their Monohan types (CAL for example), it is what it is
we don't have the blue chip top line guys, but we don't really need those to come up and play for us considering the make up of our team.
we're not suffering, bad decisions can change that, and good decisions will mean a bright future

i could pick all the best of that group and still mute in favour of radio

he gets paid a lot, but he helps us win. we all really badly need to see Bolland and Clarkson together and healthy in a matchup with some top lines before we throw in the towel on the two. Carlyle would LOVE to have both these guys at once and in game shape for h elove of God

with Bozak on the top line, it would be ideal to have (i hate Kesler but pretend he's our 2nd centre for a minute). with the contracts and CAP situation (we could really stand to add another stud 5 million dollar defenseman not currently on the roster)...
well, a cheap Holland centering a "soft scoring" 3rd line instead of Kadri is something to consider.
build a great 4th line, use the 2nd line in the tough matchups and Kessel's line as our #1.
but that's not the same as saying Holland is as good or better as Kadri or could do just as well. Kadri brings a physical edge to the table to go along with his skill. we need more of that on the roster, not less.
edit: the hope is that a hometown kid in Bolland is THAT (Kessler) perfect centre. we badly need a reminder of why some of us were starting to believe that.

no way, Cam. i was predicting Colbourne, Brennan and Smith making the team. i was wrong, wrong and wrong.
Joe wasn't terrible, he was "ok". but he was not creative or physical or passionate at all. all he had to do was be the guy in the playoffs the year before.
i assumed he would stick because he wasn't "bad", but Ashton's effort simply forced our hand.

it was absolutely Colbourne's job to lose. he was given a contract that would allow him to make the team and he showed plenty in the playoffs to make us think, at WORST, he could be a "safe" player in bottom 6 minutes.
he showed ZERO ambition in the pre-season. he literally made one good pass in each game and he had a real tough time winning pucks along the wall.
he was sakting well, however.
i was convinced he was going to make the team because I thought he would eventually show up. but he did not. so he made me look bad as i tried to find the good amongst the nothing.

i don't know...Colbourne was fine in the playoffs last year but in the tryouts, when it really mattered, he really didn't show any jam at all.
Holland came to the Leafs with a a better shot than Colbourne but otherwise a comparable game...but Holland has shown he will finish his checks and compete hard if that's what it will take to be on the team.
Both picks are a toss up despite their different values, and Blacker didn't rise to the top of our prospect list when he should have, for whatever reason...so these things aren't important to me.
So all things considered, i like Holland over Colbourne based on what I've seen from both.

wouldn't be surprised to see what you listed, but then Carlyle doubles shifts Raymond with McCLemment-Bodie as a checking line
and double shifts whichever winger is flying (Kessel) with Ashton-Holland for extra offensive shifts.
actually, that would surprise me ... not enough caution in that wind haha

time for Leafs to leave the NHL and start their own league.
sure you can put another team in Toronto, but we're going to need first dibs on all GTA kids on draft day in order to stay

Fenton's a closet fan too
yeah, i couldn't think of what he should be calling him...maybe Jake's the only guy answering questions about that and the others don't have to figure out how to refer to the management
