i love you hockey
i think the credit for the drop pass at full flight to gain the zone entry to the wrong team. i think it's Lindy Ruff in BUF who started that in the NHL. not sure where he got it. he also did a cool D wide at the O-blue line pass to the inside winger off the face-off. not used a lot, maybe it's easy to defend when you know it exists.

has to be on video remember.
i'm curious too. maybe Ranger wanted to get away. maybe he saw writing on a wall. i think he's a quality NHL defender still.
similar to when Lashoff left, there's just no real story to it. i'd like someone to tell us a story.
only if the lewd comment was to her and about another woman in the room. was it her sister? if so. niiiice

is that how it works? i'm moving tomorrow. kinda puts me in a tough spot. if it keeps going for a few days i'll get on board later in the week from the new place...or maybe as my last order of business here...
@Bon Scott was a Leaf fan
the younger brother would have laughed twice as hard at that lol and then later on watching keon chase him around the yard
the youngster was almost a little too eager to see the old man take one haha. good stuff, keon
people are going to pretend they didn't see that. i thought the kid was going to drop the bucket on your head lol.
be funny if you get the banhammer haha
i think it's a bit of both. in each case, you can't be a good team without good players. i think good players can make just about anything work.
BOS another example of a team that puts it in deep, forechecks and takes away the passing lanes, causes turnovers and sends you backwards again ... wearing you down, winning the game of field position
if that wasn't a dream, as long as Shanahan is a good hire, so what?

those links to the stats, possession, zone entries articles below were interesting, thanks for those.
here's the thing for me, though. collecting these stats has seemed to teach the Sznajder guy what to look for so he can collect the data. it's funny how after a while he can name players who stand out in good ways, then describe what they do to be good.
so...while collecting stats he's watching the games. without the watching aspect, and knowing what you're seeing, what good are the stats? still makes me think a good scout can give me a list of a players strengths and weaknesses that i'd trust more than a spreadsheet, because they can visualize the opposition, the flow of the game, and other things that could relate to the player's abilities.
sounds like the guy is learning simple hockey to me haha.
he watches 800 games with the intent of looking to quantify something after being told of the importance of possession and zone entries...and is beginning to understand things that contribute to the stats and how to interpret things.
good for him working hard on something, though. i honestly think a lot of fans and especially some media experts can learn from this...but moreso by spending the time themselves than simply repeating what they read.
possession is good. if you can gain a zone entry without dumping it in, great...but i think there's also a seperation between good and bad dumpins and what they amount to.
BOS dumps the puck in a ton and it works for them because they play aggressive, smart and tight. it eventually leads to turnovers and possession.
good teams seem to be able to do just about anything well enough. i think having many good players and few bad ones is a big obvious help. Leafs have a weak link on too many lines.
no, i don't think it is the same
no one will back down and hide from Hamilton. players won't skate wide around the crease after a whistle because Hamilton's on the ice.

that was one of the most bothersome decisions i can remember
there is literally too much to watch and not enough time to watch AND live

i've totally forgotten how it all left off...can't wait.
lately, i've been hooked on Orphan Black haha. little different. but extremely entertaining imo.
Hamilton has ZERO chance of replacing Chara.
the biggest, hugest part of what Chara as done for that team is given them THE physical FORCE that few can contend with. not in the form of an enforcer, but as a player who can play a regular shift against top competition he has had few peers.
playing with Chara and Lucic has made everyone bigger and braver on the Bruins. he has given his goalies and defence partners a lot of room out there.
Hamilton could very well become a Norris quality player, but he will never contribute the physical qualities Chara did. he will never affect the team the way Chara did.
now, i don't think BOS is in trouble. but i do believe Chara is in decline and i believe Thornton is a bigger loss than people recognize. i also think Bolland and Thornton are ideal for the FLA roster as it currently was constructed.
Rask makes the difference, and they have plenty on the roster to help him out.
big smile :-D
and you get to keep your fingers lol
the coach was fortunate to escape with his job, and i while i am happy he wasn't made the scapegoat i'm reasonable enough to know he does need to take some blame too.
i just like that he's got a shot at redemption with the others who are still here. i think they're better than they've achieved so far. i think time will show it.
Good one, Randy. Good one haha
i accept that :)
it's shocking how so many people take Carlyle's words so literally and without any attempt to understand the circumstances or to weigh the actual importance of them at the time they are offered.
in a post-game presser the coach is asked for all the answers. he says he doesn't know. in the past he's talked about many things, and all that people heard (though many many more words and descriptions were actually offered at the time) was "breath" and "move your feet". and it's hilarious apparently.
so after this latest loss, during an awful slump, any other coach would always have the energy and ambition to answer every question with as much authority and diligence as the reporters did who came up with the brilliant and unique question in the first place. way to stump the coach, chief! (let yourself believe you're smarter than the coach)
Carlyle must be a moron because he could not tell the world the solution to the problem that no one else had a solution for. and it was obviously the most important moment of his life to get that question right for the press at that very moment, because the fans cannot go on without someone telling them it will be alright.
get over it. he's still the coach and you are all pathetic. he also knows the Cadbury secret and you're going to have to resent him for not sharing that, too.

lots of examples. but we don't care about them so it won't mean a thing to you.
those 4 guys are going to make up the best 3rd line this league has seen in years (yes, all 4 at once is what i mean)
no. they simply have the largest spotlight on them.
same as Microsoft. people don't waste time writing viruses or hacking things of no consequence.
i never for a moment expected the guy to stay for a minute longer than it took for him to hire everyone to run each part of MLSE
when they are typing something official for certain eyes, no. they are quite professional.
but when they are in a panic and in need of technical support the combination of being in a rush and a huff and only sending the SOS to a few of us lowly techs makes things rather funny (informal)

wait until you get back to school and read those emails from Principals haha some of the funniest things i've read
maybe that was a light-hearted and ice breaking moment
same words. different tone. total 180 meaning.
i think it's impossible to break the net and still have enough to put a hole in healthy boards. found a soft spot in the twine?
Weber's got a cannon, and is dangerously innacurate.
we've tried putting the heavy pucks through the boards and never succeeded. that's crazy.
i think we could have assumed you weren't predicting the exact date and time each player would literally enter their prime.
some you stay away from, some you feel good about
i'd go look at the horses before each race and pick the one with the largest ass, the certain look in its eye or the jockey i know who has won for me before.
the earnings used to pay for a good night out each week.
ya man, and everyone stop hating Carlyle for the toaster incident and listen to his entire interview, not just one or two words until they become all he's known for, like "move your feet"

openly mocked by PART of the hockey world.
and when you look at the two halves ... those mocking him and those who don't, which group of people would you prefer to be associated with?
i think the mocking birds are making asses of themselves. that's their right. but they're not as smart or important as they think.
some people who aren't pro-Carlyle are fine. they have their reasons. but there are far more idiots drowning the message out. sorry.
i think we have half a team full of X-factors
Winnik-Santorelli-Booth could be one of the best 3rd lines in the league, for instance ... or they could be just a little shy of good enough.
will they push Naz's line for scoring? that would be nice. but can they do that while also doing well against top lines in a matchup role? it would seem like overachieving but when i break down those players and their strengths i think it's somewhat promising
Kontiola, Komarov, Clarkson, Holland, Ashton, Frattin ... not blowing our minds? but they all have plenty of ability to challenge almost all our other forwards for roles or ice time.
we can have half the things go well and have half go poorly and still have a lot to feel good about.
interesting excerpts. i can't get the interview but based on the clips above i think he's a guy i'd chat with.
exits, enters, creativity ... good things for a coach to think about when designing drills for practices imo

that's all i get on radio now. everyone asking the questions seem to think that people will think they're stupid if they simply ask a direct question. they try so hard to sound smart, they remove all doubt that they're not.
actually, it's creating the good scoring chances, not just a shot on net, that Rielly and Gardiner really could improve on if they want to become elite PMD
i love the kid, but i really don't like the floppy stuff
