shocking how they see some but miss so many more
5 hours, 29 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
that certainly shaves years off
5 hours, 36 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
players have different values to different teams
disgusting narrow mindedness
5 hours, 44 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
why no first next year? I wasn't hoping it was high at all, just mid-first.
and like I said, I was simply thinking out loud about a deal that they might consider. I don't think they want to head in that direction. I think they'd prefer to keep their pick and their young defender.
5 hours, 47 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
no one's trading 1st this year. maybe that's just because the lottery hasn't happened yet, though.
CAR seems to start each year thinking they're going to be better than they turn out. I might be wrong on that and they're faking it. but with the Staals in the middle and a couple of other players, Kessel is the player type who might help them to the playoffs. if they think that, that's all that matters...that and whether or not that's what they actually want right now.
me neither, but CAR wouldn't do anything less either. and I don't think they'd do that.
but Faulk is real good young and right-handed
the extra 1st next year and a 2nd this year...I don't know if it's that bad
5 hours, 49 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
to CAR: Kessel, Gardiner, 2nd(2016)
to TOR: Semin, Faulk, 2nd(2015), 1st(2016)
5 hours, 51 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
keep Kessel and Lupul and try to use JVR, Kadri and Gardiner to get Duchene out of COL
(to replace Stammer who's not leaving FLA)
drafting Marner and then Matthews is a cinch haha. probably tough if you have Kessel still, though
5 hours, 54 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
he played C at the world juniors
he could be either. he's too good .
5 hours, 55 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
I didn't have a big problem with either coach either. no one's perfect. circumstance is everything.
9 hours, 52 minutes ago on Ron Wilson: “Leafs Rebuild will take 7 or 8 years”
horrible goaltending but also his own arrogance
he was the smartest person in the room, except he wasn't smart enough to keep that to himself.

only players without heart would be afraid of a spotlight. aka losers.
Stamkos is a real leader and winner with heart
is the myth a myth?

we need new owners
our media giants want content, but they have a different idea what and how to "control", as compared to what a different business owner might have

haha, sounds like a great job

personally, I wish the organization would lock things down and set a lot of unpopular rules.
no facial hair works for some teams
no social media accounts
lots of things that would generate a lot of media attention ... and the only thing that would help would be winning
fans want a winner. media want people's attention.

not in the real sense, just what young people seem to associate it with when I hear the word used

so they should give up and just be victims

i can't say i agree without knowing what we were offered.
Polak is worth more to us still than a pick outside the top 60 imo. if there was an offer of a 2nd or better then I'd have to consider which team we were helping.
MTL, BOS, DET, etc would have to pay above market value, because i don't want to watch one of our guys help them with anything.
1 day, 11 hours ago on Leafs Notebook – March 4
he was on yesterday. but he mostly gets off now.
i'll leave that one to the scouts to determine ... assuming you're accurate, though, then two cracks at something similar makes sense.
there have been some articles written to show that trading down doesn't work out as often as trading up, though.
it would suck seeing the Sens ahead of us in the standings come away with a top pick but that could happen anyway.
i think whatever keeps teams trying to win is the best idea, though.
considering how Kulemin and Gunnarsson become our standard, what are you asking?
some things are out of our control. as much as we want the best, so do all the other teams.
Dave Hodge had an idea about the draft lottery i hadn't heard before.
first one we've heard before (probably)
1. all non-playoff teams have equal chance of winning lottery
2. do the lottery at the all-star break. i assume this can still be weighted even, based on the standings at the time of the break?
the rest of the season would be played out with all teams knowing who was drafting the next super-star. that is an interesting idea...
or is it?
"Do. Or do not. There is no try."
I'm going to use that with my hockey team next time we hit the ice haha
@Ice Cream Man
"Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."
wow. Yoda is a Leafs fan.
i have a problem with Shanahan until he proves he means what he says.
he's always saying the right things and making people nod in agreement. he doesn't seem to show up all the time, though.
when he became Shanaban, he was hardly the man we thought he was. he has been happy to let everyone else here take the tough questions and take the heat since he's arrived here.
words are wind. i'll wait and see. and hope.
with the pressure off a little, the puck is going to start going in. even the hockey Gods were helping us last night. with two goalies getting hurt and a referee spoiling a quality Jagr scoring chance.
i am concerned. we've already seen the first movie in the second trilogy...
it feels like he's looking to be a wise guy too often now. he should just try to be wise.
1 day, 12 hours ago on Leafs Notebook – March 4
what just happened?
I don't know that he's the answer, but if we drop a little I think we'll be looking to get the best big skilled C and hope for the best.
I just suspect as much. and there are always a few players who become duds and a few others that turn out to be better than the players picked before them
you say that now ... nearly 20 games remain
he looked very uncomfortable to me. he looked new.
not a guy who's playing with confidence, though he did look to play with urgency. so he cares. and he showed some skill.
I think he's a long shot to be good but it would be senseless to ignore him so quickly.
I'm still worried that the team is going to play relatively well now, Shanahan and his squad will be fooled into thinking they're still a good enough group to build around, and the only sacrifice we'll see is Bozak (in order to give Kadri and Holland more opportunity) and possibly Lupul (because his contract is substantial enough to notice).
although it makes sense to cash in on the older guys like that right now, I'm looking closely at who we're passing the torch to: Gardiner, Kadri, JVR - that's going to be the new core IF Nonis follows through in the summer.
they might have a year left before they show they're keepers or before they become declining assets. right now, I don't like them as our new core, but I do like the potential trade value there.
trade those old kids in the summer or at the draft for full value. teams can gamble on their potential and feel like they're not really giving up the future of the their team because mid-20's has plenty of hockey left, especially if they gamble and win.
meanwhile, we keep Lupul and Bozak and Polak, and make a decision at the trade deadline.
Phanuef, Kessel. they're another matter.
the goal is to collect 21 and under blue chippers and picks that "ya never know". no one's going to do us a favour, but maybe we can find some partners who feel we're helping each other.
there was a chance to lash out, get a pat on the back, and not get negative blowback
for a guy who is quick to hold others to a high standard...shockingly revealing
did Mirtle really tweet that?
mmmmm....i want to be impressed....but....i saw them play.
2 days, 5 hours ago on Phil Kessel, Kyle Dubas speak out on media treatment in Toronto
that's a pirate joke, with the words all mixed up.
sounds good. but i watched some of those games and it's a far cry from the AHL let alone the NHL.
i liked him in the juniors, though. he gets in the corners and battles.
look forward to seeing him next year, i hope.
they're all after me nuts
my nuts are not for you
i think lots can happen between now and the end of the year, the draft lottery and the draft
but i got lots of nuts
easy guys, maybe hawkee is here to seek more attention for his clever tweet
also, Kessel has always had a temperament that suggests he'd rather do something than talk about doing something. he doesn't always do something, sure, but at least he doesn't fill the room with hot air.
for him to speak up just told me he always cared, and that since no one else was speaking out for a guy he cares about...he did when the opportunity came about.
it's more courageous to wait until you know you can't escape, isn't it?
speak up before the deadline, get dealt, leave it behind?
so what you're saying is Fox News is the standard
