Heaven Knock knock knockin on McDavid's (Beastie Boys voice coming up) nnnnnDooor?
not good. not good.
don't let me stop you, I'm still reading

nothing means nothing lol
he was one of a kind
I was just offering an excuse for him to use when the time comes
interference from the board?
if we win a lottery, I think i'll probably hear about it from some and say "no way". then when they say "yeah, for real". I think I'd say "hey that's good stuff". and then I'd go back to doing whatever I was doing.
McDavid is a beauty. any team will be lucky to have him. but if I haven't learned anything in 40 years it's to not start planning a parade route prema-f'n-churly
it should change nothing

remember Rocky's training, trying to catch that chicken?
Sens best be careful where they focus their energy if they hope to win the series. taking out MTL would hurt Subban more than anything else that's likely to happen.

what's the over-under on days you rolled out bed eager to do this all year.
"What a dreadful (fill in the blank: year, game, start, finish, shift, save, penalty kill, power play)" - Ray Ferraro, many times
3 days, 23 hours ago on Toronto Maple Leafs’ Scoring Chance Tracking – Season Recap
seems to be true. most Leafs fans are just Leafs fans.
Nylander uses his body to battle for pucks. it doesn't concern me after my first impression of him had a question mark on that topic
Leivo or Frattin becoming quality NHLers ...we could have used them last year when we were skidding. they could very well make the team next year, when we take it down to the bone. they could be assets still. Leivo's young enough to maybe be around when we start to get optimistic again.
3 days, 23 hours ago on Marlies two points away from clinching playoff spot after win over Iowa
I would be happy to use all of Kadri, Gardiner, Bozak, Kessel, Lupul, Phanuef, JVR and Bernier to acquire 1 blue chip centre and 1 blue chip defender
4 days, 2 hours ago on Tuesday Mashup: The Shanaplan
would rather trade them Nylander and draft another D instead
D taking a little longer to develop, we'd draft high for a couple more years and hopefully have some net out depth by the time the young forwards join the team.
Brown, Liepsic and others can lead the charge.
tough to do either, really. for either team. although knowing what Rielly is probably the most important factor in it all.
but Konecny and Rantenan and others are right there too...so getting an additional 1st rounder in the 15 range would just be swell
probably need another top 10 to have a chance
yeah, they're all maybe's. I just have a hunch (which amounts to not a whole lot). partially based on Hunter's interview a month ago, but then also because I took the time to watch a few full games. Marner impressed me earlier in the year when I watched him and I can't tell if Barzal was more impressive or not. but he didn't disappoint when I already had what I thought was a bias to Marner, if you know what I mean.
neither are big, but both compete hard in all areas of the ice and have that IQ to go with their skill.
either could be special.
who could be most special though? Zacha?
I have a feeling Hunter is going to go with Barzal before Marner and Strome
I'm not so sure.
he's a few years younger, a smart hockey player who allows players like JVR to exist on a top line.
i hope I'm wrong. because if other GMs like JVR more than Huber then i jump all over that.
sign O'Rielly as a UFA if possible, having already put Huberdeau in place and ready for Connor Brown to come up maybe?
that's one high IQ hockey player on each of the top 3 lines that i feel good about
4 days, 19 hours ago on Tuesday Mashup: The Shanaplan
i think it would resemble how he plays defense
i have a tough time imagining him up ahead of the play looking back for passes, battling to get pucks out at our blue line, and standing in front of the other team's net looking for rebounds
4 days, 20 hours ago on Tuesday Mashup: The Shanaplan
i think Stralman had a different set of tools to work with, and didn't suffer so much due to the team he was on, but the age and level of maturity he was at himself
what speed? has he played with a bad hip this year?
he's old enough to judge him well enough imo. i think he could still go either way, but I'd rather be wrong and trade him too soon than be wrong and keep him for too long.
I'd like to find a trade partner who thinks he's going to still turn out great. pay me that price and i'll be happy with the new shiny toy
i wonder if they'll aim for the CAP floor, though.
i imagine part of the CBA peace stems from teams like Toronto ponying up
...in a rebuild where the goal is to draft high
but if he has trade value...use that and get something younger with more potential
instead, trade him for a forward
want to know, who did Gards tell him he was this year? will he jump from Doughty straight to Bobby Orr?
4 days, 21 hours ago on Tuesday Mashup: The Shanaplan
pretty sure that's what they'd do. Dubinsky's a big guy who they can run out against some good centres.
Johansen can hold his own against the best and carry his line now. it's a nice situation for McDavid.
yeah. show me.
meaning, that's where my head's at right now.
if COL were to win the lottery, does that open up even more opportunity for us to acquire Duchene or O'Rielly?
but then, why would we really want either of them if we're tearing it down? they're almost too old to to trade for now, imo.
Columbus. McDavid would play behind Johansen and Dubinsky ... on a team with some big wingers, and some fast ones. huh. yuck.
could I get Huberdeau, Strome or O'Rielly for him?
what's JVR worth?
they say no
I still trade them all for more picks and prospects
no one thinks it's a little untrue? I mean, seems like it exists to give Leafs fans hope. which we all know is a sick joke on us.
Barzal, Zacha, Konecny, Kylington and Debrusk this year
(not overwhelming, but that's the point)
5 days ago on Tuesday Mashup: The Shanaplan
draft Matthews and McLeod in 2016
Lupul, Bozak for 1st rounders in 2016
Bernier, JVR and Gardiner for top 20 selections this year.
Kessel for a 1st this year and a 1st next year
Phanuef for a 2nd this year and a 1st next year
play a lineup full of Sill, Biggs, Lindstrom, Panik, Holland, Komarov, Haritkainen (yeah, that's right), Justin Williams and Mike Richards (your heard that right too), Percy, Franson, Erixson, Brewer, Polak and Rielly plus MacWIlliam
draft high a couple times and draft many. keep an eye on the best youngsters for another season.
and with that, I'm all out of optimism (used it up just now)
I think it is too. but would that satisfy us?
I was kinda expecting some to say "I wouldn't trade player X for that" just as much as I'd expect some to think it's too optimistic
for discussion purposes, i played this game the other day. anyone want to play again?
imagine we could trade some players for 1st round picks this year.
imagine we could make these trades, are we happy?
top 30: Lupul, any of the Marlies young defensemen, Leivo
top 20: Bozak
top 15: Bernier/Reimer, Gardiner
top 10: JVR, Kadri, Phanuef
top 5: Kessel
what about a 1st in next year's draft? where'd you draw the line? some good looking kids coming up.
that changes everything lol
if what you're saying is that all they know is they refuse to be MTL fans, then I find them easier to not hate
i think it goes way deeper than just motivating Phil to perform better
Bryan Murray's battle actually made me stop thinking about the Sens fans as a reason to cheer against them and made me "kinda almost" cheer for them once we were eliminated.
I still don't "feel for" guys like Chris Neil but I do have a heart, and I'm going to be pulling for Ottawa to go to the finals and lose. because I still don't want them to have a Cup to rub in our face haha.
sad for the family and friends, as always.
The new coach had the system but the players didn't buy in.
the old coach didn't have the system but got more buy in.
to me, that's convenient thinking. I still think the evidence is there to suggest the old coach was a good coach and the players were always the issue.
but people wanted the old coach to be the problem more than anything else.
so when the new coach couldn't succeed, sweep old information under the rug and turn the page, blow it up and now let's focus on the future.
canning the old coach was necessary because keeping him was preventing us from failing bad enough to get people on board with a full tear down.
that was Carlyle's system
