@Xxxxxnew Buffalo won't trade any of them. Leafs need more picks.

Is there any shots of Shanny or Nonis? I would like to see their reaction of this game. Nonis sweating, as usual? Shanny maybe rubbing his hands together with a grin thinking of McDavid? Or just complete shock?

@Cameron19 @Hammertownleaffan I remember a year or 2 before that deal there was the rumor of Kabs to Philly for Carter and a 1st. That would of changed the roster quite a bit at that time. This is why I hope they make the right decision on Gardiner soon because we will look at all the swirling trade rumors about him now and say the same thing in the future. Leafs either trade him now at his highest value or down the road and receive a late first and B prospect.

@hometeem @DIGGLER _69 @Cameron19 @Jay_Berg my thoughts too. Van has picked up some prospects of late and they need scoring and they are trying to cash in with the Sedins while they can. Plus that is the closets to CALI Lupul will get.

I've been waiting anxiously for Shanahan to blow up this core, including firing the coach and GM. No O'Reily or Yandle or definitely Courtier will help this team. Even if we swapped Carlye for Babcock, who by far is probably the best coach this past decade, the results wouldn't change. I'm sure Babcock wouldn't even want to be part of this mess. The way this team is built it has no fluidity throughout the roster. Every line does something different on the ice instead of following a system. Its a roster of very selfish players playing for themselves and their stats, and on to the next cheque.

@Savo43 @djamon So the point of that question was to see what everyone's' sentiment was on our Number 1C. We can't even retrieve a number 1C package worth in a trade for our best center men, yet we are excited to move forward. This was to lead onto a conversation of sorts but whats the point, its difficult to start a discussion with most of you keyboard tough guys and hockey gurus.

What does everyone think Bozak would garner in a trade with future intentions? I'm suggesting draft picks and prospects. Bozak for O'Rielly has been discussed as a trade scenario of players being swapped. For a trade with future interest, what about to a team like Calgary for Sam Bennett and a 2nd? Just for the sake of conversation.

Would Phaneuf accept a trade to Buffalo? Or is Buffalo on his list?

If George decided to go there instead of T.O. and Gionta signed there for whatever reason, maybe Phanuef wouldn't mind going there either. The idea of him paired with Georges might sway him.

@Cameron19 @DIGGLER _69 @Jay_Berg @Mcost61 @Bring the Cup Home probably Gardiner and a 1st. We'll assume or use as an example. Even if Leafs lose the first rounder it eliminates the chance of obtaining a top 6 prospect. Leafs drafting Biggs and Gauthier to fill the bottom 4th line in the first round is a step back in progress. Now losing Gardiner for Eric Staal fills one hole but we end up with another hole in D.

@Jay_Berg @Cameron19 @Mcost61 @Bring the Cup Home You do realize to obtain Eric Staal would require a package of players that would set us back anyways never mind cripple the future further. I'm in the boat of if Leafs aren't in a solid playoff spot and are just hovering below 8th place, blow it up. Same core, same results the past 3 years.

Do you guys know what this Hunter addition also provides? An direct access to the prospects on the London Knights. Inside info and viewings. With Dubas & Hunter on board, Leafs should be at least well informed with potential OHL prospects. And Leafs should be able to draft 1 prospect from the Knights system every year without too much worry which isn't bad for the prospect pool since players from the London Knights system seem to be on every team and they tend to develop better than others.

@Cameron19 I have agreed with everything you have said on here for the past half hour or so. I couldn't say it any better. For us to watch a mediocre team for another 5 years and not go anywhere, whats the point? Tampa sucked 2 years in a row with Stamkos and have Hedman and Drouin to sore up their line-up, is that bad? I'll gladly watch this line up all year long, especially seeing kids like Leivo, Percy and Carrick developing and with the end result of Mcdavid in mind.

@Cameron19 @Fish Head @DIGGLER _69 Ok, I was referring more to how during his tenure he stocked up the prospect cupboard for them and as we witnessed their Farm team dominated this year and probably next. Jim Neil made these great trades with assets Joe obtained and Joe is a proven winner wherever he has gone. Everyone is allowed a mulligan right? Just IMO.

I wonder if there is any interest by Shanahan to bring in Joe Nieuwendyk as well for one of the vacant managerially jobs? If Nonis is let go, there is no way a 28 year old (even though I'm close to the same age bracket and can only dream to) could manage the Leafs. Joe did a good job with Dallas in his small tenure and now Jim Neil is reaping the benefits.

@Cloud09 I think we could get a better player than Couturier at 8th. I see Couturier as a tall Andrew Ladd. Peter Holland has untapped potential, he hasn't even played a full season. I wouldn't think about trading him until he played a full NHL season. See what he has. If it was Franson and 8th for Couturier plus 17th than that might make sense.

My top 3 picks, realistically, is Ritchie, McCann & Fabbri. 2 safe NHL picks (varying potential from top 6 to bottom 6) and 1 wild card. Leafs need to draft a safe pick because their prospects are far from many. Even if their prospect this year becomes a bottom 6 player, its their prospect and they won't have to trade for a player to fill in that position. Like our bottom 6 this year will be mainly Marlies, I hope. If Leafs can get another mid 1st rounder this year it would be crucial for their prospect pool. The very least a 2nd rounder or 2 with trades of Franson and maybe Reimer or Gunnarson.
