Do you guys know what this Hunter addition also provides? An direct access to the prospects on the London Knights. Inside info and viewings. With Dubas & Hunter on board, Leafs should be at least well informed with potential OHL prospects. And Leafs should be able to draft 1 prospect from the Knights system every year without too much worry which isn't bad for the prospect pool since players from the London Knights system seem to be on every team and they tend to develop better than others.

Any opinions on Scott Laughton in lieu of Couturier? He was supposed to play this year but couldn't crack the line up.

@Cameron19 I have agreed with everything you have said on here for the past half hour or so. I couldn't say it any better. For us to watch a mediocre team for another 5 years and not go anywhere, whats the point? Tampa sucked 2 years in a row with Stamkos and have Hedman and Drouin to sore up their line-up, is that bad? I'll gladly watch this line up all year long, especially seeing kids like Leivo, Percy and Carrick developing and with the end result of Mcdavid in mind.

@Cameron19 @Fish Head @DIGGLER _69 Ok, I was referring more to how during his tenure he stocked up the prospect cupboard for them and as we witnessed their Farm team dominated this year and probably next. Jim Neil made these great trades with assets Joe obtained and Joe is a proven winner wherever he has gone. Everyone is allowed a mulligan right? Just IMO.

I wonder if there is any interest by Shanahan to bring in Joe Nieuwendyk as well for one of the vacant managerially jobs? If Nonis is let go, there is no way a 28 year old (even though I'm close to the same age bracket and can only dream to) could manage the Leafs. Joe did a good job with Dallas in his small tenure and now Jim Neil is reaping the benefits.

@MaxwellHowe Lets see how Buffalo looks like in 3 to 4 years. They have enough high picks between the last 2 years and this one to form a descent team.

@Pent_House What do you think of Steven Trojanovic? The few games I watched he was paired with Finn on D. I thought he would be an interesting pick up for the Leafs, along the lines of Muzzin and Giradi. He is an overageer now and could be signed.

@Bruffins @Loric76 @TheCanucksnaphook I wouldn't mind Del Zotto as the 6th or 7th D. See if he can get back to form. Sign him to a 1 year 2 mil show me contract type like we did with Franson.

@Bruffins Where is Granberg? Hopefully Holzner does make the team if not he has to go through waivers and will most likely will be picked up. I wouldn't be opposed to trading him for a pick just so we don't lose him for nothing.

Anyone think Leafs will offer Matt Mancina (goalie invitee at Leafs prospect camp) an ELC? Leafs are so weak in the goalie depth and prospect department.

@Cloud09 I think we could get a better player than Couturier at 8th. I see Couturier as a tall Andrew Ladd. Peter Holland has untapped potential, he hasn't even played a full season. I wouldn't think about trading him until he played a full NHL season. See what he has. If it was Franson and 8th for Couturier plus 17th than that might make sense.

My top 3 picks, realistically, is Ritchie, McCann & Fabbri. 2 safe NHL picks (varying potential from top 6 to bottom 6) and 1 wild card. Leafs need to draft a safe pick because their prospects are far from many. Even if their prospect this year becomes a bottom 6 player, its their prospect and they won't have to trade for a player to fill in that position. Like our bottom 6 this year will be mainly Marlies, I hope. If Leafs can get another mid 1st rounder this year it would be crucial for their prospect pool. The very least a 2nd rounder or 2 with trades of Franson and maybe Reimer or Gunnarson.

If leafs trade Dion, they might as well trade Kessel too. Fastest rebuild. Trade Kessel to the Ducks for their 2 - 1st this year and next year's 1st. Kessel becomes the missing piece of the puzzle for the Ducks next Cup run and we only see him twice a year.

@MaxwellHowe I like that. If Leafs trade down with the Ducks or Yotes and get their second and draft Eric Cormel or maybe Alex Peters, I think that would 2 descent prospects in the system.

@MaxwellHowe @Burtonboy For the sake of conversation; what would the likes of Franson, Gunnerson, Phaneuf, Kessel, Lupul and Reimer fetch in value of trades, hopefully compared to recent ones of similar ilk. I'll assume Kessel would garner 2-1st and a 2nd again maybe more? Reimer a 3rd? Gunnerson 2- 2nds (I wish); something similar to Douglas Murray.

If JVR was to be traded the only offer I can see accepting other than a proven player of the same age would be a package like Kessel cost 2x1st plus a 2nd. Trade to a team like Buffalo or NYI for their high picks.

Its not that weak of a draft. Its weak in depth. Anyone in the top 15 can be top 6 forward and top 4 D. Gardiner has flaws to his game that won't help us to be a cup contender. Leafs have Morgan Reiley who in my opinion is better in every category than Gardiner at a younger age. If Leafs can aquire a player to fill a hole of weakness with Gardiner they shouldn't hesitate.
