Great article AP!!

Great deal for Gards. Could be a steal of a deal as soon as this season

Komarov Holland Winnik

and you'll have the exact lineup I think we'll see on opening night

Seems to be consistently at or on pace for 25-30pts which is solid production for a bottom 6 guy that plays a lot of PK minutes. I like this deal. I'm really starting to like this team.

@WesternDP @4evrblue @Jay_Berg  Congratulations. You have successfully made a case for a guy that historically fights heavy weights to not be considered a heavy weight fighter in this league. You have also successfully taken one name from an entire discussion and discredited every point I was trying to make. You the man

@Burtonboy @4evrblue @Cameron19 @Jay_Berg  I agree, staged fights should be a thing of the past. There were a few fights in the playoffs though. 9 according to hockeyfights. http://www.hockeyfights.com/fightlog/1/pos2014

The pure fighters usually sit down in the playoffs and rightfully so. I'm not preaching having pure fighters on the team though.

@Cameron19 @4evrblue @Jay_Berg  I could sit here and poke holes in all of these examples all day, as can most of us on here. The point is fighting is shifting away from guys like Parros, Orr and Scott. Fighting still has a place in the game though and I think a good team should take advantage of the effects it can have on the game. Broll could be our guy that plays a 3rd line role and takes the big assignments in the future but he isn't ready yet. In the meantime Bodie is a great guy to have as he can play fairly well. I'd love to see a few more of these guys targeted in trades or later rounds of the draft.

Edit: I will agree on Clarkson, he's done well with standing up for teammates.

@Cameron19 @4evrblue @Jay_Berg  Some will be more skilled than others. It would be ridiculous to think all teams would have a guy like Lucic. A Kassian or Roussel though? Not out of the question

5 days, 1 hour ago on James Reimer Signs for 2 years, $2.3 million per season

Reply

@Jay_Berg  Clowe is washed up yes but that doesn't mean he wasn't a solid heavy weight in his day and no, the time of the heavy weight isn't dead. The future of the heavy weight lies with players like Lucic, Roussel and Bollig...... the heavy weight that the hawks have.

The Habs may have gotten rid of Parros and White (who is a shitty version of a heavy weight) but they still have Prust and Moen. They have guys that will answer the bell.

@Burtonboy @4evrblue @CanuckUKinToronto  I should add that I've been preaching this for years. I wanted Clowe for a long time, wanted Engelland before he was overpaid, have always said Kassian would be a solid addition and even said I would settle for guys like Stewart even though he doesn't fight often and Maroon even though he was unproven. A lot of teams are trying to go in this direction. The time of the heavy weight isn't dead. Teams just want a heavy weight that can play.

@Burtonboy @4evrblue @CanuckUKinToronto  At what point did I say I wanted pure fighters? We've had this discussion before BB. I want skilled players that can fight. Its why I literally just said if we could get a version of Bodie thats just a little more skilled I'd be thrilled. I believe if he had just a little more skill he could be a 20-30pt guy. Its also why I look forward to Broll making the team someday. He can fight fairly well but can play the game too.

@dlb Mad @4evrblue  you think this entire conversation is about how Holzer sees things? How he sees things means nothing.

What matters, and what I've been trying to say, is its unfair for management to throw him in over his head and then judge his NHL chances based on that alone.

@dlb Mad @4evrblue  Connor Brown is a bad example. If Connor Brown was thrown into the AHL on the top line and then returned to Jr. because he didn't produce enough and was looked at as never being able to grow into anything more than a OHL scorer then we'd have a comparable

@dlb Mad @Cameron19  You're pretty much reinforcing what I'm saying. It doesn't seem fair to the guy to be labeled an AHLer judged only on his one stint as a top pairing guy. Seems he should have gotten another chance on the bottom pair to build confidence and work his way up. Seems like bad development practices

@dlb Mad @4evrblue  He hasn't gotten a sniff since. It seems management has judged him based on his time playing against very high competition. That doesn't seem fair.

@dlb Mad @Cameron19  He's a guy that has outgrown the AHL and we won't know how good he can be until he gets a little time in the NHL without being thrown in over his head.
