Nobody will trade out of the mcdavid pick for literally anything. Nothing.

Would Pitts trade Crosby for Kessel and the 3rd? Not a chance in hell.

We don't need a "shutdown" centre we need a #1 centre. Good teams use their best on best

Chris Stewart being shopped already. You know where he could be scary good? Boston. Would be like getting a younger, healthy Hornton to play with Lucic again.

Considering the threat hasn't even been stabilized yet it would be completely wreckless and irresponsible to play a game that nobody, including the players want anything to do with

Solid game last night and it was nice to get the win but we still aren't playing a winning brand of hockey. That was another wide open game with chances galore. We need to lock it down.

Our young guns (kadri, Rielly, gardiner) all need to step up big time. None are playing even close to what they are capable of.

Love the clarkson line, by far the biggest bright spot of the season.

@gottabe_KD @Jay_Berg how?

how many north american sports teams generate the type of revenue the leafs do, have the same access to resources and a massive fanbase and accomplished less in the last....10-15 years?

@gottabe_KD @Jay_Berg right but you cant penalize Winnipeg for taking over a joke of a franchise. They basically started fresh.

Look what you are arguing? you are basically saying "ya but theres worse teams...." maybe? The fact that we are in the conversation should say enough. I always find it interesting when people defend this franchise which has been without a doubt one of the biggest jokes in professional sports.

@gottabe_KD @Jay_Berg Edmonton was in a cup final. Winni has barely been around.

Those teams dont generate hundreds of millions of dollars and have unlimited resources.

Not to be a downer but every time we make a move like this everyone is happy/excited and then its the same old result. Nobody deserves any sort of praise in this organization until we actually start to see progress. This is a results driven business and nobody has produced worse results then the Leafs.

@dlb Mad @Jay_Berg Hall on Boston would be pretty deadly. Seguin on Edm probably makes them better too because they'd have RNH and Seguin down the middle although they still cant defend anything.

5 days ago on Leafs Notebook – October 20

Reply

@gottabe_KD @Jay_Berg @T K O ya for sure but when it comes to CORE players they come from the draft. I'm talking about your 2-3 franchise building blocks. For example, good teams have a franchise centre. Teams very rarely trade franchise centres and they certainly dont become UFA's. You have to draft a franchise #1 centre. Always

@gottabe_KD @Jay_Berg @T K O again hardly ever happen where significant young pieces move

5 days ago on Leafs Notebook – October 20

Reply

@T K O there are hardly ever significant free agents anymore and if there are you have to overpay for them. This is why you pretty much have to build through the draft

@TorontoMapleLeafs @Jay_Berg @Yaknowwhat I thought that Holland played really well in his limited minutes last year. He was able to be somewhat dangerous offensively and could cycle the puck fairly well. I think he can play better which is why I'd prefer to leave him in the lineup.

Carrick has so much grit and energy I think he could spark that line.

5 days, 1 hour ago on Leafs Notebook – October 20

@TorontoMapleLeafs @Jay_Berg @Yaknowwhat I'd actually keep Holland at centre and put Carrick on the wing in Panik's spot.

Is it unthinkably possible that we may have won the Polak-Gunnerson trade? Polak has been exactly as advertised. Playing solid defensive hockey and staying within his capabilities. He is the only dman we have that does what he does.

That isn't my concern. He's had issues in the past with coaches and discipline. Only one good season. I could see him being a guy who shuts it down once he gets his big long term contract. Could be wrong but IMO the risk is too big. Plus he fits the type of team Columbus is building and Phil does not
