@LN-093

I think if Carlyle had been running the men's 2014 Olympic team, he would have had two guys in the doghouse. It seems he picks two guys out of his bottom three on the team and dumps on them. It doesn't matter how good the team becomes, he'll have someone he doesn't like.

Lure Kovalchuk back over, offer him Kulemin as a second line centre :

JvR – Bozak – Kessel

Clarkson – Kuli – Kovi

Komarov – Kadri – Brodie

Ashton – Holland – D'Amigo

Jackets beat the Islanders and Panthers, giving them four more points than now. Toronto loses to Bolts, beats Jets, Panthers and Sens for six points.... ending season one point ahead of Columbus.

Then the Leafs beat the Bruins in six in the first round.

I'm guessing player agents and out of work coaches make up 50% of the viewing audience tonight.

The old Glen Sather – Petr Klima move. There's no defense against that.

For whatever reason I can't post in the new thread, but I'd like to welcome Carter to Thunderdome.

@Wilbur  I don't think a straight cycle game is necessary to win in this league. A team should know how to cycle, but I don't think that's the only path to a championship. Toronto was two minutes from eliminating one of the best cycle teams out of last year's playoffs. Because of that failure, Toronto went with a personality operation and mucked it up. I think the players learned their lesson on how not to lose but management dismembered effective forwards (Grabo and MacAurthur). There was a lot of skill in those two players and they really weren't replaced with something better.

MacArthur and Grabo right now combined for 85 points. Bolland and Clarkson combined for 21 points (yes I know Bolland's missed most of the season). 60 odd points down...

Even adding Raymond to Bolland and Clarkson gets their combined total up to 65... that's still 20 missing points. Add in the better defence of MacArthur and Grabo over Raymond and Clarkson, Toronto's not in this position right now if they had kept them. Added insult is six more years of Clarkson who gives us the same production as McClement.

I just hope Carlyle decides to run four lines and refrains from gassing the other three for the remainder of the season.

@wiski  I'd love to see the Avs run up 9+ goals on the Habs.... Carey Price quits the team and ends up traded to the Avs where they go on to win two Cups.

@Jon5200 @Xxxxxnew  The blood flow in a tendon is far less than muscle, it doesn't matter if you're a pro athlete or not. Tendons take far longer to heal because of that.

@hoolihan  The third goal Boston scored in that game is a perfect example. Not only was he prone, he pushes the puck out away from himself instead of pulling it back in. He fed the puck into the slot while lying on his stomach. Last night's scramble with about 40 seconds left in the game... no goal that time but he was completely out of the play. I don't see any other "#1" goalies in the league who do this time and again.

Reimer spends far too much time on his belly for a pro goalie. When I taught Novice and Atom kids in net, one of the first things I'd teach them was if you end up on your stomach, you better have a 100% chance of covering the puck. If not, you're in big trouble because you have no mobility whatsoever to make the next save. I can't believe how much time Reimer spends prone... more often than not it burns him.
