@Rick K. I agree. I think the Angels blogosphere has overvalued a ton of our prospects. Sure, we've produced a lot of major leaguers, but the haul we just surrendered aren't all going to be future all-stars. Rondon has also taken a few peripheral steps back.

Makes me think that Skaggs' hamstring issue, though probably a real thing, was pretty minor and was used by the Angels more to help limit his innings this year.

Can't Grant Green fill out the right-handed portion of the DH platoon? Gives him a chance for at-bats, while spelling Kendrick/Freese a couple times a week. There's potential in his bat, and though I haven't studied Green's platoon splits, it should be a mutually beneficial thing?

@ScottyAllenLAAI oh gotcha. That makes a lot more sense! haha.

Normally a fan of your stuff, man. But wow, I have some problems.
- I would not give up Green for Kelly. Kelly is more of a reliever who I think outperformed himself in 2013. Trading a possible future top-of-the-rotation arm and an elite center fielder in Bourjos for a no. 4 and an injury-prone 3B sounds desperate.
- Michael Young has provided negative value for the past couple years. We can easily fill that with an affordable farm-hand, maybe even Cron. Giving Young that much money to suck is such a bad idea.
I know it's impossible to say at this point, but what's a reasonable bid price for a guy like this? Darvish was at $51 mil+.... $35 mil to talk to Tanaka?

Great piece. I think at the age and the potential, a gamble on pitching might be necessary. Halos have proven they are willing to spend big, but have locked up aging assets (Pujols, Hamilton, Wilson, Weaver, etc.)
If they can get 26-year old potential no. 2 at the price we're assuming here, it'll be worth it.

Definitely encouraging. Isn't it also the case that Angel Stadium guns run a little slow from time to time? I seem to recall that being the case over the years.
