@Yaknowwhat @peterbleafs @B_Leaf Yes he was...now if we were in a playoff series with Anaheim I think Id rather Gardiner sit and Holzer and Polak be in. Heavy up the D because that team is tough.

The weakest player IMO was actually Clarkson. He just lacks the talent to play even in the top 3. So many small plays he makes and I sat wondering, why would you do that? Or why didnt you see this?...
@Yaknowwhat @B_Leaf I think Gardiner is coming around again, but now he is taking the body more with some authority. He is starting to mature his game.
@Yaknowwhat @peterbleafs Ah yes, that would be the weak point.
An excellent game.!!! This is not a team what will wilt, simplly because we are now so deep at every position, even injuries should not derail us. It used to be that if Kessel were hurt we were euchred but now if he was hurt, we would suffer but will still have scoring from elsewhere to get us through.
Nylander better start growing. Looks like Sundins 14 year old son.

@dlb, just dlb @king leary I dont think so...Yakupov was the worst pick of all. It is how they have surrounded these players and brought them along. RNH was put into the NHL when he should have been down in Junior another year at least. Now he has had multiple shoulder injuries already.

@Cameron19 the things the police do to innocent citizens on the streets should blow us away more.
@Brozak @peterbleafs @traNsplantEdneWfie Definitely, I feel good about this roster going into a playoff round. Should be okay.

@Potcy Well as for RC...his line combinations are working and well setup...he has 4 lines all working really well. Work ethic is high. We have essentially weak defensemen yet they play a competitive game. I have to give RC credit for his work here. He deserves credit for part of this. Applause for Carlyle.

@traNsplantEdneWfie We are fragile, no respect until you make the playoffs and can show you have the playoff gear
@Xxxxxnew Yup tell me when that 3rd LA goal went in that you didnt have that awful, could this trigger a train wreck for 10 games feeling?
@Savo43 @Bruffins LA only wants to get into the playoffs healthy...they understand winning so I can see their stars sputtering for chunks of the season...but when they turn it on, no one is better.
@Tim44 @peterbleafs Carolina is as disgusting this season.

@Mcost61 @peterbleafs Also a deal...Id prefer that deal to my own since we have no idea if Nylander has any passion or grit.
Besides this is all moot. Only a joke team will get McDavid...was hoping it would be us but it will not be. Carolina is tanking on purpose...absolutely disgusting..those Staal losers. As is Edmonton now, they will reflect until the end of the season and get the 1st pick. I am certain Carolina and Edmonton have a tank mentality and strategy this year.
@FloorHockeyFlopper @peterbleafs I think its fair...Edmonton should do well from it, but since they have lousy management and thus coaching...they would still suck
If I am Edmonton and I have to trade McDavid or the first pick....and its Toronto...Id want Kadri, Holzer, Reimer, our 1st pick...straight up...Leafs would be forced to do it. I could live with that one since we would keep Nylander and we have Percy as our depth D.
@FloorHockeyFlopper @sniperstar @ProfessorRance @In it to Winnik Id trade: Nylander, Percy, Riemer and make them take Clarkson...for CMcD and a 2nd round pick.
5 days, 7 hours ago on Game Review: Game #29, Toronto Maple Leafs 4 vs. Detroit Red Wings 1
@sniperstar @ProfessorRance @In it to Winnik I actually think he should. He should evaluate the management teams of the shittiest teams...ie Edmonton and simply say...if you pick me I will not sign or report to you...nothing personal but you are not capable of building a winner.
What a win last night, what a strong 4 line performance with our weakest line being again our first line. Man that fourth line and Kadris line look so good. I do think a trade is still needed and once Polak comes back the Leafs are in a spot because Holzer really looks solid out there. I want to see more from JVR who plays way too soft, he has to be the big power forward on that first line and he isnt aggressive enough.
Our team is really starting to look very very deep. Stickgate will become known as the point in time where this Leafs team understood themselves and what they had to do game in and game out.
Well done Players!!!! That was the only time where my blame lay squarely on the players, not on Carlyle at all. They hung themselves and responded just beautifullly.

@Cameron19 @In it to Winnik Id leave Phaneuf exposed because no one will take him, same as Clarkson...then make sure you keep your future assets as locked up as possible.

@Armchair GM I do think Babcock would love to be the lead in directing Kadri, Rielly, Holland and a few others development. To me Kadri and Rielly would be absolute studs under Babcock.
@Armchair GM We do not know to what degree Ken Hollands influence on player development and roster decisions factor into Babcocks success. It may well be that Holland is the one who determines when a player is seasoned enough in the AHL and can be called up or what development activities go into each player. We best not simply think that Babcocks abilities are transferable to the on ice product in Toronto.
@Cameron19 @Armchair GM Well Vancouver should have beaten us badly too. Trend is coming back, but the difference I can see are our guys all work hard all the time now, and we roll 4 lines way more. Will allow us to fight harder as games tighten up.
@DeclanK @MaxwellHowe @Ian from Etobicoke Aspire to be the Joker
@martyzylstra Got you to read the article? I saw that headline and just passed right over the article. Not going to get sucked in.
@Jmessih Yeah noticed that as well. Clarkson just isnt a top 6 forward. I saw many instances where his lesser skill cost that line some opportunities. He is doing well but just not as talented as that position should require.

@mapleaf13 @Alec Brownscombe He played a lot on the PK so he has real value. I have really liked Holzers game this time around. Vast improvement over the past two years.

@DARF24 That is not sheltered. It is more prudent. Why risk injury? You do need a backup who is capable and has game experience in case of injury. Backups should get 25 games or so a season and back to backs are the only logical place to use them.
@TheLoovTrain @Savo43 @Mcost61 Add Lefebrve remember him shutting down guys like no ones business.
@ProfessorRance @peterbleafs This was the first game that I could not sit for the last 5 minutes, overtime and shootout. Finally they brought me to my feet lol
Super fun game to watch thank goodness we won but its all a precursor to another swan dive later this season as our defensive structure remains horrible. Detroit completely schooled us the entire game. What an impressive display of passing and puck control by them. I loved our energy and hustle, but its still nowhere near what it needs to be for a solid defensive effort once the back half of the season comes along.
Felt so good for Reimer, he was truly brilliant!
@Burtonboy @Kadrific I wish they would deal with his injury and force him to take time off if needed. Kessel at 100% with those other two lines make this team really tough to beat...or outscore anyways. But I loved how tough Kessel was taking that empty net goal to the net and warding off that defender. Very determined, loved it.

@Jmessih He has been physical at every opportunity every game he has played. He is a true dark horse who just needs an opportunity to move up the lineup.
@Dangle_My_Berries @Chris Jay It just shows Bernier has no interest in the wider world around him. Must be nice to live in a world of wealth, adoration and be oblivious to all the worlds problems. Weiser clap for Bernier.
I think the Leafs are envisioning a line of Lupul Kadri Nylander next season. Man what a second line that would be.
Santorelli Holland Clarkson as a 3rd line....
@Burtonboy No its not for real...another 6 solid games and it is for real. But must get to SOG parity with opposition as a minimum to be a quality playoff team.
Am sold on both Santorelli and Winnick for next season. Booth I still maintain was never needed.
@.Kong. @peterbleafs Your name is Frank?
Flames are a very good team and were beaten by our Leafs fair and square. Bernier was good, but so was their keeper. The difference is we have a third line with a top level center who creates three strong scoring threats. For the life of me I dont understand why Kadri is on the third line. Everyone he plays with becomes high end all of a sudden.
But that second period was so impressive. Wow. The defence isnt quite where it is supposed to be but wow are the forwards ever working hard and well.
@FloorHockeyFlopper @MaxwellHowe @Cameron19 YOu must have gone to Lakehead then lol

@MikeGartner11 @Cameron19 @MaxwellHowe High Schools in Ontario arent allowed to fail anyone unless they are completely delinquent...so most any hockey player moron gets a high school diploma.
@jimmyg65 @peterbleafs @Burtonboy All she has to do is wind down the Brewers Retail, form a new company and use the same buildings people, etc...and voila profits go back to the tax payers.
@jimmyg65 @peterbleafs @Burtonboy That sucks...Im sure our lovely Premier will deal with that.
@Burtonboy Dont care, I like LCBO and Beer Store setup as it is. Just drink less beer and booze if you dont like it. All their profits end up in the public purse and they fund nice paying jobs for ontario. All at the price of something no one really needs.
@Anthony Petrielli @peterbleafs Yes that part of it is absolutely true. If our coach sat Kessel as a for instance for not playing defence in a certain way....then Id say good for him. But what would Leafs ownership do? What it does do is raise up the flag that significant action had to be taken with a player in the first place.
@Anthony Petrielli @peterbleafs lol well does it matter. We arent allowed to super criticize Murray now that he has terminal cancer and since I dont care about Ottawa...well...too bad for them :) Ive long thought that their owner was as stupid and as ignorant as the Edmonton owner. Notice how I did not bother to include their names?
@Anthony Petrielli Macleans job is to mature those young guys into bonafide leaders and I think he wasnt doing that, instead he was likely angering them, lowering their self confidence. It was likely that Murray knew the methods Maclean was trying on these guys were going nowhere and instead losing them.
