Carolina is terrible. Locked in for McDavid.

@Komas Taberle @Cloud09 @Cameron19 Doubt Holland or Panik were going to be the ones doing that.

So does the quality of your opponent get factored into any of these stats Anthony?? Would have to think there would be more value to a "zone assist" if it was against an opposing teams 1st line as opposed to their 4th. Or is it pretty cut and dry at this point?

@Mind Bomb @Leafs_17 Bozak has zero defensive ability. Should be on the 3rd line, not being matched up against Tavares tomorrow.

@TheLoovTrain @Cloud09 Who is Polak breaking up plays against?? Is it Crosby/Tavares/Zetterberg or Sutter/Nielsen/Sheahan? Having these stats are nice but if the type of opponent isn't taken into consideration you are going to end up creating more problems than solving them. So far Line 1 has faced the best players from the opposition, if you want to pair Gardiner/Polak against those types of players that's fine, I just don't see it working out as well as the numbers would make it out to be.

@TheLoovTrain @Cloud09 Again, worth a shot but I don't give that group much of a chance if they happen to turn the puck over and the rush starts going the opposite way.

@Bruffins They seem to be physically out matched every time. Opponents have no problem muscling them off pucks once they get deep into their own zone.

2 days, 7 hours ago on Leafs Notebook – October 20

@TheLoovTrain That first group is still going to get light up like a christmas tree against a guy like Tavares. Still worth a shot though.

@Burtonboy @TheLoovTrain Might as well roll 7 defensemen. It would get more use out of the roster.

@wyatt956 @Cloud09 Can't say I'm a fan of it. Rolling 3 lines and burning out the top end of the roster isn't something I'm looking forward to if this trend continues.

So 5 games in and back into old habits. I hope the coaching staff realize that Franson has no business being matched up against Zetterberg. Hank's stellar weekend is no surprise considering he was given all sorts of room in both games.

@wendelsfist @Cloud09 @Yaknowwhat In a half season... If the Leafs played a half season last year they would have made it again. Spending money on a data mining team and guys to analyze the data has nothing to do with how guys play on the ice. This team looks a lot like what we had to end the season last year and by all accounts there hasn't been a whole lot of change yet so it's easy to assume Carlyle can't get these guys to play the way he wants to. The coach is always the 1st to go, his time is coming soon.

@.JVR. @Cloud09 He might slow down at some point but right now he fits in quite well and if the goal is to win games he is a better option than a couple of established NHL'ers on the team. If he starts to have a string of poor games send him down but right now there is no reason to.

@.JVR. @Cloud09 I like Percy's mobility. He doesn't need to be a PP force, just be competent. Franson is a liability, regardless how well he performs on the PP.

I'd run

Gardiner-Phaneuf

Rielly-Robidas

Percy-Polak

Rielly-Phaneuf/PP1

Percy-Gardiner/PP2

Phaneuf-Robidas/PK1

Percy-Polak/PK2

@.JVR. @Mitch92 With Franson around he still would get PP1 minutes and takes time away from either Percy or Gardiner.

So if the Leafs continue to be a .500 team, do you still try to keep the course and win with the current roster? Or move some big names and take advantage of a very strong draft? I think it's a tough call that is gonna have to be made at some point this year.

@Burtonboy Or in some combination of that. Franson needs to sit, would only seem fair given the Gardiner situation.
