I don't see a move including a package of Holland+Franson+ . It just seems that Nonis and Shanny saw what happened last year as a true need for depth on the team. Depth such as Holland and even Frattin and Ashton (the two latter being able to be sent down?)

Just got online to see Scott's hit, pretty obvious it was intentional to the head. What I don't get, and probably makes it worse and why Julien was going nuts, was that it was at centre ice! Its not even a battle close to the boards, he was dumping it in... Ugh just makes yea cringe.

Here are my brief thoughts as I am pretty dead from cheering. Wow what a game! It was only preseason but hell the fans ate up every minute of that brawl and continued to cheer and chant every time the big screen showed Kessel or anyone fighting. The brawl aside, which was clear in the video so no need to post about it, here are my notes from the game.

-Colbourne is not ready for a top 9 position in the NHL. No doubt in my mind, but why? He has not picked up the speed at which decisions need to be made. The 'one touch pass', or the pass the puck before the defender engages you for the puck have not yet clicked in all situations. Hes a liability for the Top 9. JVR and even Leivo (more on him in a sec) carried him tonight. If he isn't a Marlie soon, I won't understand what Randy saw.

-I cannot say anything that hasn't already been said for the following: Gardiner, Kessel, JVR, Kadri. All outstanding. The speed they play at is beyond the majority of other players on the ice.

-Lupul, Bozak, Clarkson had pretty good nights. I think its just working their way back.

-Now Leivo. He did not look out of place with JVR, not only speed wise (although a few passes got away from him) but his cycle game was better than I thought. He obviously is a consideration for a call up... eventually.

-Finally, two players I wanna highlight tonight! Ashton and MacWilliam. Ashton showed each and every shift that he wants to compete and hound for the puck. His speed isn't amazing (noticeably slower than kessel) but his positional play on defense makes up for it. He laid down the body a few times and dropped the mits for the brawl. He did well tonight. MacWilliam was in my opinion the most steady d-men of there for most of the night. He is a horse in pursuing the puck and attacking the body. He isn't actually a skate at will d-men but he made me watch him every time Buf was in the offensive zone. My depth chart ? MacWilliam is ahead of Rielly, who didn't show up for me until after the line brawl and the rosters were cut in half basically. Sorry he needs to go to junior.

Shit sorry men. It was an amazing game

I find little surprise here. The roster is just too competitive at the moment for D'Amigo and others to get a look. I expect injuries will change this through out the season. AKA everything we already knew.

@Irishfanman @Leafs rule @leafscapguru Probably one of the most forgot aspects of this line-up - the end of games do not have the same line-up as the beginning. The shuffle of players for certain roles is the whole point of getting versatile players in the first place!
