I know its a win and I always want my leafs to win but this win against the buffalo McDavids doesn't leave me feeling elated. We could be right back in the shitter by the week's end.

I'd throw Leo on the first line just to wake Kessel and Bozak up a little.

@peterbleafs @darthNihilus Sad but its the reality. You want him learning the habits of Dion and Co?

@peterbleafs @darthNihilus I think you are wrong. By playing with the big club he just gets ruined. Why dump him into this shitshow in his second pro season? Dmen take longer to develop too.  Let him be a force in a  couple of years with a better coach and better team.

I like how they sent Percy to the farm - Dubas said its better for his overall development to play 20 mins a night in all the right situations with the Marlies than 10 minutes with the Leafs sparingly. A wise decision.

@Potcy @darthNihilus @mike_84 Maybe we are not going to get the type of rivalries we had years ago. There have been some good games with hate full on displayed by Chicago and LA, some doozys between the sharks and kings, ducks and a few others.

@Shafty Lets see what the next coach gets out of him. I don't like him paired with Gards or Franson so far. If Robidas can pick up his game he is a better partner for Dion.

IN order to trade everyone (for a decent return) the Leafs need to go on a 10 game winning streak so that they can trade from a position of strength. Then it is time for the rebuild that should have started when Burke was hired.

Another thing that drives me nuts is bringing analytics into every single debate and blaming the current clusterfuck on the analytics proponents and the analysts themselves. Who in their right mind believed that the hiring of Dubas and Co. would yield immediate results on the ice? The kings for example did this for 10 years before the results were seen on the ice. I do not expect to see the full fruits of the analytics labor for another 5 years or so, with some intelligent and fact based decisions during the process in the meantime. But to somehow blame the proponents of analytics for the poor play of Kessel, Dion and etc is just absurd.

a problem with trying to make trades at this time is that from a position of weakness you rarely get a just return. Teams know that you are hurting and are looking to rip you off. When your best players are Komarov, Santorelli and Winnick your team is in deep shit. Add Reilly and Bernier and the rest of the team could go as far as I'm concerned. I opined early last season that the problems with the team went deeper than just Carlyle and I am even more convinced now that after he is fired we will need to clean house-does not matter who the new coach will be, because some of these players are just incapable of producing quality NHL minutes.

If we go 0-10 Randy will be canned first. Then the players will have one final chance to show that it was the coach or his systems that screwed the team over. If we still suck after that I expect the blow-up and rebuild.2 games into the season though is not enough time to gauge the adjustment to whatever the Leafs brass have Carlyle and Co doing. I prefer this honest mistake prone hockey that doesn't deliver a false sense of "everything is alright". Lets see if the big millionaires come out tonight and earn their paycheques.

It seems as though while bodies may have changed the style of play remains the same. I know its only preseason but regardless of the winning record all the troubling signs from last season's meltdown are apparent again. Now that the Leafs brass knows a bit more about possession and zone entries I hope they make the right decision early in the season otherwise we will be competing for the #1 loser in the McDavid sweepstakes.

It will be interesting to see who will replace Lieweke.

I like the hiring of the Darryl Metcalf, Cam Charron and Rob Pettapiece. The stats are never going away its time we embraced and used them to our advantage (the Leafs').

I can see Nonis and Carlyle getting canned before Tim L. leaves.

Aside from the Komarov addition (too much money though), the Leaf's off-season moves have been completely pathetic. The team is worse than last year and worse than it was 2 and 3 years ago. We did not add secondary scoring, we added no forwards with capability for a 2-way game, we added no workhorse to help Dion's game, we added no center help (I wont talk about the Finn cause I've heard this story before - most recently about Gustavson who "was the most coveted goalie not playing in the NHL").

The Toronto Maple Leafs management including Tim Lieweke have absolutely no clue. They are still talking grit and heart but not about skill. Heart and grit need to be coupled with ability. The signings and moves thus far show they have never consulted a stat sheet to see who they were acquiring. The Leafs are the richest, highest ticket price and most glorious NHL team in the league but make moves like an expansion franchise (even those were better). The inability to make a decent trade and the condescending tone in interviews make teh organization even more pathetic. They sell us a bill of goods and expect us to cheer but we can see with our eyes and are capable of simple maths that show us who a player is. The pathetic roster filling for next season is a disaster in making - which most fans would have been OK with had they come out and said "look, we are going to try this rebuild thing, we are not going to add any expensive free agents, we will try and improve our drafting so bear with us while we go through the growing pains". Instead they are telling us that this team is built for playoff contention. Really Nonis? Do you think we are that dumb? Being Leafs fans we hope that we are really that stupid and that you and the rest of management are really that smart but I just don't believe it. We'll see if 20-25 games into the season we are cheering or booing. But all your jobs will be on the line if you were wrong.
