@wendelsfist @theacs1966 Could Franson and Bozak get you one of the centers in Colorado.

I'd add to that to get Duchene.

@AdamWolfson @Mitch_S2 Also Lupul spent one year with the team before Carlyle. Penner never played a game on the ducks without Carlyle.

They won a cup, Getzlaf had a 90 point season, Perry scored 50 plus goals.

Hell even Kunitz played his developmental years with Carlyle….

@DeclanK @Mitch_S2 @Anthony Petrielli I was trying to decide who drives the play on each line. That third line is tough. Kessel is obvious, I believe it's Kadri on the second line.

Tough to say on the third line, I would want to say Komarov but I also see him as complimentary.

@AdamWolfson @Mitch_S2 Getzlaf and Perry were dragged down by Carlyle, thats asinine.

They played like the first 6 years of their careers with Carlyle and were dominant players.

Getzlaf, Perry and Ryan spent zero time on the team before Carlyle, that couldn't be more wrong.

@vinoa @Mitch_S2 @Mind Bomb Yes he would.  For example Kadri has the great possession numbers but he's not producing and we aren't winning games because of him.

Maybe that means he just holds onto the puck for to long…

@vinoa @Mitch_S2 @Mind Bomb I never said Stats have no value I'm just saying they are all over valued.

For me the easiest way to scout is playing. You know who's hard to play against.

I believe it was Glen Sather who would have his players make a list of the 10 guys they hated playing against the most, and at the end of the year he would target all of them.

@Mind Bomb @Mitch_S2 To me there is just too much going on in a hockey game to let stats sum it up. Regardless of how "all encompassing" these advanced stats are, to blindly look at them is ridiculous.

You don't knoq how many times just sticking my ass out in front of the net has led to a decent scoring chance.

Or even ripping a shot wide, that wraps around the boards and leads to an offensive chance for the other team. For me as an individual it was a scoring opportunity (attempted shot) but it had no chance of going in, became a turnover and led to a scoring chance for the other team.

@vinoa @Mitch_S2 @Mind Bomb Because we want the first spot?  Wouldn't Detroit be challenging us for that 2nd spot.

Do Kessel's 80 points a year mean anything to us if we aren't winning a cup? No they don't.

When you win, anything that contributed to it was a positive, otherwise it's isn't worth squat.

@Mind Bomb Every stat is over valued, at the end of the day the only stat that really matters is the number of Stanley Cups.  Goals mean nothing without wins, Wins mean nothing without playoffs, playoffs mean nothing without Cups.

Surprised you didn't touch much on Hollands play.  I really think this is Spott's influence we are seeing here.  Holland has been very responsible defensively, hopefully that can turn into some trust and allow him to open up more offensively because the kid is talented.

@MikeGartner11 @Mitch_S2 The competition is definitely worse over there. Seems to be a large talent gap between all the kids but there is no denying this kids skill. Skates with his head up stick handles while keeping his feet going. He looks like a little Crosby.

@MikeGartner11 @Mitch_S2 @Burtonboy I wouldn't argue that, they are a very similar player though when you consider their offensive style/ abilities and defensive attributes. I don't think they would both be effective as a team's top centers.

@Burtonboy @Mitch_S2 I'm merely commenting on the fact that there are a similar player and Kadri's contract status could be affected by Nylander's play and developmental curve.

@MikeGartner11 @Mitch_S2 Dependent on Kadri's year obviously but if Nylander is ready to play in the NHL it would be tough to have him and Kadri in a teams top 3 center spots.

With Nylander playing center and producing and Kadri looking for his big deal, does this mean the writing's on the wall for Kadri?

@GLG  Not sure you need to give up Kadri to get Couturier. I'm a big fan of Couturier but at this point kadri has alot more offensive upside.

Thoughts on a trade like this

To Col: Kadri, Gardiner

To Tor Duchene

Colorado want's MAckinnon to be there guy, Duchene is a much better two-way player and a great talent. They get worse at center but better on the backend. Thoughts?

@Cameron19 @vinoa If you look at the last three games we were supposed to win the first two and Carlyle's guy got the start, the one we are not supposed to win Reimer starts. To me its just Carlyle giving his guy the right opportunities.

If he starts Reimer against Columbus and we win and Bernier against Chicago and we lose then there's no reason to keep going back to Bernier in the short term.

All that being said Randy is fighting for his job, above he I think he's just doing whatever he thinks is best to win.

Last night showed more than ever our need for another quality centerman. As of right now I'm not sure there is a huge difference between Kadri and Bozak as an impact-full player but it does show how much more talented Kadri is.

That pass where Kessel gave it to Kadri a couple feet behind him and Kadri turned it into a toe drag around the dman (Myers I think?) and a great scoring chance. Kadri's issues are between his ears everyone knows that by the time he's Bozak's age I'm willing to bet they are irrelevant.

We still need to capitalize on Bozak's value as of right now.

To Arz: Bozak, Gardiner

To Tor: Ekman-Larsson, Samuelsson

To Phi: Phaneuf

To Tor: Couturier

Add and Subtract to make it work.

Lupul - Kadri- Kessel

JVR- Couturier- Leivo

Komarov- Santorelli- Clarkson

Winnick- Holland - Frattin

Ekman-Larsson- Rielly

Franson - Percy

Robidas- Polak

I don't see Carlyle fired this early if the Leafs lose.

The teams record under Carlyle is pretty similar to Wilson's with the vast majority of the core still intact.

If upper management has seen enough the need to make a big trade.

I can't see them firing him after such  a small opportunity to turn things around.
