Why I like the Holland trade. This kid is big and can move, makes him hard to play against.
Likely the biggest knock on Bozak is that there is no aspect of his game that makes him difficult to contain. With Kadri you know you can get burned and Bolland is a prick. Similarly with Gauthier and Rupert they don't necessarily create offense but they are tough to play against.
Hopefully Holland can turn into something decent, a 50 point player between Kessel and JVR ins't too much to ask for.
If Holland looks good near the trade deadline I'd like to see Nonis make a play for a top defencemen.
Dan Girardi - pending UFA, hopefulyl he wants to come home, munches minutes and is exactly the type of player we need.
Brian Campbell - Old yes, Overpaid yes, but he can still play and if Florida would be willing to keep some salary I would be interested in seeing what he could do. Only two years on his remaining deal.

@Burtonboy @WendelGilmour Fraser really seems to have a calming effect on whoever he plays with. Not that Phaneuf played bad but why not give him a couple games up there to settle things down.

@Greg Fenton @Mitch_S2 @Burtonboy @Murph2417 Giroux is a player you build around. If anything it makes more sense for philly to sell everything just to make a team around this guy half decent.
They have more forward depth around him too. A goalie, a couple top 4 dmen and a coach make them a decent team again.

@Dan39 @rickpearce76 @Greg Fenton @Mitch_S2 @Burtonboy @Murph2417
Giroux is a 4 first round pick type player. Kessel got two and he only had what 60 points as a career high, Giroux was like 97 if I'm not mistaken..
@Greg Fenton @Mitch_S2 @Burtonboy @Murph2417
No you misread, I said they would want what we gave up for Kessel, but more.
Kessel was a 60 point player when we traded for him, Giroux has flirted with 100 points. I don't see why they wouldn't get at least 3 first found picks for him and more.
And courturier is far more likely to leave the team over Giroux who is signed for another what 8 years? Courturier has many more options to leave.
Not to mention the cap and how a cheap talent like couturier would actually fit in toronto. Giroux has no chance in hell
@Greg Fenton @Mitch_S2 @Burtonboy @Murph2417
Philly sucks right now. They only player they won't move is Giroux, he's an elite talent and young enough to go through a rebuild.
They only way philly moves Giroux is for a package the like the leafs gave up for kessel if not more.
Couturier is going to be astronomically cheaper, I don't see why a guy like Finn and a first couldn't get that done.
@BPsotka @HeatherRickAkin @Xxxxxnew Duchene is the best play on that team by a long shot. Also starting to think Stastny resigns.
O'Rielly is the odd guy out and they are dying for anyon who can play defence.Not saying getting rid of Gardiner is a good idea but if it makes sense its solid.
Keeping in mind within a year or so we could move Bozak and one of our goalies for a pretty damn good dman.
@Burtonboy @Murph2417 Gotta wonder when philly makes a move. Couturier would be ideal. HE could play shelteed minutes behind Kadri and Bolland eventually settling into a 2nd line role.
His value is likely at an all time low, good time to pounce.
I'm still convinced Nonis wants O'Reilly but given the timeline of these injuries it may have him go in a different direction if he still covets that big number one guy.
Hard to believe they still want it given what the gave up to get Bolland and the fact that they gave bozak some sort of NTC.
Bozak still seems moveable for the right guy. Jordan Staal is struggling mightily and doesn't seem to be a fit in Carolina.
@B_Leaf @Mitch_S2 @dlb eh Kulemin is paid like a top six forward. Even if Leivo or Broll aren't as effective which I would argue at the price, they make way more sense.
We are cash strapped re-signing Phaneuf and hoping to add another top defender.
Kulemin wouldnt' get you Girardi even as a pending UFA.

@ConnorCrisp @Mitch_S2 @Dan39 @TheCanucksnaphook For sure, but also another guy to replace Kulemin.
The leafs likely have the strongest group of top six wingers in the NHL potentially top 9.
@Cloud09 @Dan39 @TheCanucksnaphook @ConnorCrisp Thats literally his only move.
@Dan39 @TheCanucksnaphook @ConnorCrisp
Leivo made Frattin expendable, same with MacWilliam and Schenn. With an opportunity to improve your team you look down the pipeline and see if there is something to fill the hole your making.
@B_Leaf @Mitch_S2 @dlb eh I agree he has value to our team but lets not overate this. I'm definitely a Kulemin fan but a guy like Broll is more than capable of growing into that role, as well as Leivo. On top of that Kulemin makes what, 2.8 million? Grossly overpaid for what we get out of him. Im a fan of his play but he's overpaid.
Ideally we use him and Gunnarson to target a guy who can play top 2 minutes. Dan Girardi is a pending UFA and from what I understand New York may not have the space to pay him.
And I wouldn't say we are desperate for him. We have a winning record regardless of how you want to spin it.
@dlb eh Does Kulikov improve us over Gunnarson? Likely no. Obviously there is some pedigree there and Ill admit there is a good chance he could be slightly better than Gunnarson but at the price your going to pay to get him it doesn't make sense.
Our most valuable piece of trade bait is probably Kulemin, I really see him going to a team that is alot further along than Florida.
When did we pick up Stefan legein? Kid was pretty highly touted good signing, a lot like the gibson one anda brennan.
All really low risk high reward and at worst have played themselves into some trade value.
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Game Preview: Leafs look to keep winning while also playing better vs. Canes
Gautheir looks to have picked things up, if I remember correctly he had no points through the first 4 games, which means he has 5 assists through the last 3.

The fact that it's testicular cancer at 19 is even more commendable
@TMLfan_15 @Mitch_S2 Gardiner hasn't looked to hot lately. Giveaways don't help
@TMLfan_15 We still have some solid puck movers one their way up. Merely just asset management if you can improve somewhere else it makes sense.
Same with having two potentially elite goaltenders, you can only play one at a time. If you can get a player that will have a bigger impact and role than Gardiner regardless of talent level it makes sense.
