The conversation was about tanking. Mtl didn't tank to get Lafleur

Islanders didn't tank to get Potvin, they were an expansion team. They were what they were

Buffalo got Perreault , all time great, no cup

Vancouver got Dale Tallon, enough said

After Yzerman Detroit took Sean Burr, before that Dale McCourt ,not exactly HOF,ers

@Greg Fenton @Zep2 So Fuhr and Coffey count , but Kessel and Rielly (5) , JVR (2) and Nylander (8) dont count

Bruins, no

Calgary ,no

Rockies, maybe

Wings 3 Cups no

Just of the top of my head

Fuhr and Coffey were highly regarded at their draft but I don't recall any hype surrounding the others

As much good luck as good management, muCH like the Wings

Since 1967 Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux and Sid Crosby, have combined for 5 SC , the idea of tanking to win the Cup is overrated, some skinny undrafted kid named Gretzky won 4 by himself

@Dangle_My_Berries @Zep2 Yeah that would be a big help. Having forwards that can play in the other teams zone would help too

God, another 700+ days of Stamkos speculation. The Leafs have no control over this process. Getting Stamkos hopefully is plan Z, Tavares plan Y.

The team has gotten incrementally  better since Draft day. Nothing spectacular, but the bottom 6 and D look improved.

Off course you are right. But right from the get go, the MSM is comparing him to BB. you can see Shanny cringing during the interview.

I think this guy is smart as hell, but talk about high expectatios

Out with the old , in with the new.

There is no doubt who is steering the ship now.

But some of the Moneyball comparisons are laughable. Baseball is tailor made for advanced stats , but the more spontaneous and reactive the sport, the less effect it will have

Baseball

Football

Basketball

Soccer

Hockey

The Fucking HAbs made it to the semis for one reason .EFFORT. Not size, skill , or toughness, just effort

Down the stretch they played every shift like it Was their last. By that time the Leafs lack of depth or Carlyles lack of faith had worn out our core players

We can second guess the GUnner trade all we want, but that trade is just one in a series of moves to recast the team

I posted a comment asking why the kid with the most skill (Nylander) who is roughly the same size as the SAMs in considered to be the biggest risk

Personally I think Reinhard could end up being the least effective.

Nylander is the victim of the Don Cherry syndrome.

Not Canadian enough

Not from Ontario

Not from Mimico or Kingston

Sam Reinhard -6'1" 185 lbs , high hockey IQ, average speed

Sam Bennet-6'0" 178lbs, supposed Doug Gilmour clone .Because he wears 93?

William Nylander 5' 11" 179 lbs considered to have most talent in the draft

Which one is cast as the riskier, smallest , weakest , and why?
