With all the discussion here regarding the current state of our beloved Leafs and the minimal improvements made, we hope Shanahan and Nonis do not trade for any player older than 26.

Or rather they played like that for most of last season except that Bernier bailed them out time and time again.

Try to swap Holland for Larsson. We already have a huge collection of Swedish d-men. One of them will be great.

@Anthony Petrielli @Great Dane That is what many say. But can't see any changes for the better since last season. There was nothing in pre-seaon and the regular season is pretty much the same expect for the fact that 1st seems completely lost.

@Anthony Petrielli @Great Dane You might be right, but Carlyle is already down to three line. How many games before they have been ruined.

I find it difficult to see any light at the end of the tunnel.

@Anthony Petrielli AP - I simply can't get my head around the fact that the first and second line are worse than before.

The shooting percentage is back under average at around 8% while save% is 90.6% i.e. a PDO less than 100.

With PDO less than a 100 and getting out shot on a nightly basis with 5-7 counts, playing without a fourth line; this can not be turned around.

We have only seen the beginning of this collapse.

To be honest the effort of the first and the second line is pathetic. If they don't want to play for Carlyle then get it done.

However, if they sack RC then you weed out in the group of core players as well.

@Burtonboy @Bruffins It will require that you redo the foundation of the house, there some basic things that are not in order.

Translated into hockey term, that requires that management change the core of the team, in order to have the right pieces to build upon.

@Luke_R @Cameron19 @Mcost61 Finally Clarkson is not that big a burden for the team and we have a really nice 3rd line.

In the mean time, the 1st and 2nd line are missing in action and the fourth line a basically not allowed on the ice.

@Cameron19 @Burtonboy I fully agree that it is too much of the same. If we just saw the slightest improvement.

There is something fundamentally wrong with the players and the coach, so it has to change. I can't imagine that these changes will be coming from within.

So there is a need to move a lot of players and the coach.

This is just great. We are not even at the end of October and Carlyle is already playing the first line 22-25 minutes per game.

Last year at least we got a good start, we still over using the first line and and not getting any results.

My only concern is that Oilers (the Lord knows why) and Sabres are worse than the Leafs.

@T K O @Cameron19 Yes, Franson must be on the move. I think it was very telling the way Dubas showed his stats to Shanahan, that this is not working.

If you can't trade for a center to play on the first line and a defensive partner for Phaneuf, so the SA/game can come down significantly, then the conclusion is given already:

Management will have to blow this up and rebuild.

@T K O @Great Dane I'm point fingers at coaching after a loss. I have been doing while they where winning as well.

To me there are none that can say they don't have a part in this situation.

Bottom line after 5 games is that not a lot have changed since last season. There were hardly any differences in the pre-season. We have been able to win two games in the regular season, where Lundquist had his worst game in years and we out shot the Avs the only team close to being as bad the Leafs in holding on to the puck last season.

This is system, coach and players and it needs to be cleaned up.

If you take a look at the Game in Six, Dubas is clearly showing Shanahan how horrible the stats are.

We have a new core group of players on the way. They are between18 and 25. Build around them. Move everybody else.

I would hang on to Clarkson (we can't do anything else), Komorov and Santo they lead the way for the young players.  Over fives games they are only line /pairing that have worthy of a Leafs jersey.

@FRyan  That was been my point since last season. 34 SA/game is way too much and 30 S/game is way to little.

If we want this team to win consistently it requires 35 S/game and 28 SA/game

@MaxwellHowe @ProfessorRance In my view it is quite simple. You need to move on from Carlyle, Phaneuf and Kessel. One of the three can stay.

This team needs new leadership on and off the ice.

@Jeff_Mintz @Great Dane It just feels like something is cooking with both the Oilers and the Hurricanes.

We have a huge center problem, Oilers have all sorts of problems and the Hurricanes have no money so they need to draft they next star.

@Leafs2 Isles1 @Burtonboy  I think that you miss a point regarding Kessel and Gardiner. They are not leaders and without leadership and Coach like Carlyle they will float around.

That is why we need someone like E.Staal. He might be declining but he is a star player that has won something.

@Burtonboy @Great Dane  Good one. I actually think that those players would be flipped quickly. Oilers most be desperate and that is always a good time to make a deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs and Oilers are taking. My guess is that they are talking about a package of Phaneuf and Reimer.

The return on that combo would be juicy. My guess a top 6 forward, a top 4 d-man, a top prospect and Scrivens.

@Burtonboy Well - plan the parade, the exit parade that is.

@Burtonboy @Yaknowwhat  Bergeron and Toews are Corsi monsters, while Crosby is less good in that category.

Two factors determine that. First of all Bergeron and Toews are simply better two-way players than Crosby. Crosby is much at scoring and generating chances than Toews and Bergeron, which compensate for the weaker defense and goal tending of the Pens.

Kessel and Crosby would be Corsi superstars on the Bruins or Hawks. Kessel was already in Boston, he only has shitty number in Toronto because the Leafs in general are a defensive nightmare.
