you mean Kessel was actually at practice? What did he not leave the acc last night?
3 days, 18 hours ago on Game 75 Scoring Chances: Panthers 4 vs. Maple Leafs 1
@Yaknowwhat Also with Bernier, he's small in the net and I don't feel that shooters ever second guess with him, they know he's talented, but they don't over-think much, just unload. His biggest asset in my opinion is ability to smother pucks, when he's on, and that's why at times he can be dominant. Though, he still hasn't provided the resume for anything long term, imo
1 week, 3 days ago on Game 72 – SJS 4, TOR 1 – An even worse start for Toronto
@Yaknowwhat Yes, but there has been a lot more ugly goals given up than what has assumed blame for. I won't argue with you though, his teammates share a large portion of the blame. My point is, I don't think he's starting goalie material, certainly no where near the elite class, and I wouldn't invest in him long term.
I really pulled for Bernier when he came onboard because although I really like Reims, I don't believe he's the answer, either, to the most critical position on any team. However, Bernier calling out his team and assuming no blame at any time this season for his role in this debacle is disgraceful. As far as I'm concerned he was a key cog on the tank's track, and on many nights was the worst performer on the team. And frankly, I'm not sure I trust this guy to hold down a starter's job, as I question his durability and despite his many big saves and cool net presence, I feel he's just as capable of allowing deflating type goals.
The goals Bernier let in tonight, Price is yawning as he steers those to the corner

Good to see the killer B's strike again tonight, tank nation thanks brewer and bernier for coming out.
Sure, sit out Naz for being late for a meeting, we don't care if this diseased team wins another game this year. However, this kid has likely been the best player and shown the most desire on the team, all season. So suck it media, the kid gets a pass.

Couturier with an awful turnover on that winner.
3 weeks, 2 days ago on Game 65 Scoring Chances: Lightning 4 vs. Maple Leafs 2
It seems the Toronto MSM takes direction from the hockey masses that loathe the Maple Leafs, and take pleasure in their failings. It's too easy for them to assimilate with this massive base of hockey fans. This is why so many GMs, players, and Babcocks use this organization as a negotiation tactic for contracts, they know that the Toronto MSM are working against the betterment of the Leafs and for the improvement of everyone else.
3 weeks, 6 days ago on Phil Kessel, Kyle Dubas speak out on media treatment in Toronto
@PepTalk @Leafbites I don't think you'll hear another whisper from the Leafs camp until the end of the season, but I do think Nonis is a dead man walking.
4 weeks ago on Dave Nonis Post-Deadline Media Address
It's possible that none of the guys with term contracts were dealt because Shanny plans to can Nonis and would rather someone else do the nuking. The legions of nonis detractors are possibly getting all riled up for nothing with this inactivity.
@mtommy @Leafbites RIght, I should just read your posts all the time if I want to stay informed. Asshat
4 weeks ago on Deadline Thread II: Dion Phaneuf to Detroit Rumours
@djamon @Leafbites Yep, I meant his tenure as a Leaf, not his captaincy
@djamon @Leafbites Gotcha
@mtommy @Leafbites Well, they're trying to deal him, so?
Well, from all of this one thing seems for certain, Dion's days as the Maple Leafs captain are numbered.
Good morning MLHSers, fresh off the collective fist-pump for big ticket free agent part 2, 'release the anchor'.
More deals yet, please.
1 month ago on Friday Mashup: It Really Happened
This blindsided everyone in the media. I like the silence around this mgmt team, quietly going about business and not giving media a sniff.
1 month ago on Leafs trade David Clarkson for Nathan Horton
Hey boys, I don't live in the Toronto area, but will the subway take you all the way to Columbus?
Good deal. Good luck to Winnick, if you end up facing the habs, please feel obliged to run Price early in the season at the Bell.
1 month ago on Daniel Winnik Traded to Pittsburgh
I'd keep Robidas for a vet presence on the blue line over Polak. I'd deal this guy at the deadline if he's garnering the interest that's being reported. Him, Bozak and Winnick should all get new homes by March.
1 month, 1 week ago on Joffrey Lupul: “Who are we going to put on the ice next year?”
Who are we going to ice? The same players that we'll need to fill in for you two out of every three nights, Lupes.
Thanks, AP. I wouldn't really give a damn if we got anything for Bozak as long as it doesn't include a salary dump with term. If we're offered a 2nd, take it and run.

I think the most satisfying aspect of this tank job, even more than the idea of a high draft pick, is watching fans of other teams and media get more and more nauseous with the prospect of the Leafs winning the lottery, as percentages inch up.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Friday Mashup: “If it’s not here, it’s not here”
For a team like the Ducks that have room for Dion's contract, and he'd be a very good fit with them, this injury getting him rested for the stretch may make him even a little more intriguing.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Tuesday Mashup: Reimer to start third consecutive
I just want these boardroom idiots to attain at least one solid asset in return for each jettisoned between now and Bettsy @ the BB&T, and forget this multiple asset nonsense; a boatload isn't the best catch here, but rather a young legitimate(s) and 3 or 4 significant draft positions.

Just caught the Nonis interview on TSN. Wow. This guy seems lost at sea right now, should he be at the helm?

@MaxwellHowe What do you think we're all worried about...we're running out of ways to flukey lose.
Well, nice to see Kessel and his little buddy mail it in again, what a pathetic tandem.
@MaxwellHowe @Leafbites Ok, maybe bad timing right now, but in general and we all know it.
I wish Bernier was as eager to fight through a screen as he is to blame screens for goals. It pisses me off more than all the softies he lets in.
@peterbleafs I would say ride Bernier if you want to finish bottom 6. That said, with a few bounces here and there, these guys are playing well enough to reel off a couple of win streaks to close out, especially now without any playoff pressure. The thought of playing .500 or above down the stretch and this being a Carey Price for the Conn Smyth year are possibly giving me an ulcer.

Welp, at least our Leafs have another 4-point game to play, tonight.
2 months ago on GDT: Game #50, Arizona Coyotes at Toronto Maple Leafs (7:30 p.m., TSN4)
I don't put much stock in the draft at this point, Leafs will get a little healthier and likely won't make any kind of major moves until after the season. They can still be good enough to land outside of the top 10. They might even start getting some consistent goaltending.
2 months, 1 week ago on Game 47 Scoring Chances: Hurricanes 4 vs. Maple Leafs 1
What do I believe? I think the players themselves want this train wreck ripped apart just as much as the fans. Playing on this team for the past few years must be like a nightmare that never ends.
And Kessel, just go get a start on the golf season already, why even bother closing this campaign out. Watching you and your roomie make my eyes bleed. And that's from watching only about 3 of the last 10 games– my interest in this debacle is waning more by the day.
@MaxwellHowe @peterbleafs I wish there were a soccer net behind Bernie and Reims for the rest of the season.
2 months, 1 week ago on Friday Mashup: Slip Sliding Away
@mcloki Not a complete destruction, but trade away the vets all day. Lupul, Bozak, Dion, Phil, Clarkson can all fuck off for starters. It might take a while, but all these dudes should be replaced with younger core assets.
How drastic does the systems tinkering get here in the next little while, with a half dozen real tough games looming? Special teams won't get much change, but I wonder about ES and line combos.
2 months, 3 weeks ago on The Randy Carlyle era is over
'Carlyle canned', not exactly out of left field. But I have to say I'm unimpressed with Phil picking today to engage the way he did, no matter who or how he was provoked (I despise MSM like the rest). This guy has got to pull his socks up and start bringing some urgency to his game.
Could have been called goaltend int.
