What was that call on Franson for?

@Yaknowwhat @sniperstar It makes the fans forget about all our troubles. But I know what you mean. This team would need to take huge steps forward to be a contender.

@dlb Mad Grabbing one of McDavid or Eichel would be good for this team going forward. I just don't know how likely that is to happen.

@dlb Mad @sniperstar Well. It's arguable Kadri is better than B. Schenn at this point in their development so I would say it's a wash.

@TheLoovTrain @vinoa In terms of the market the year Grabo was a UFA. We gave him a contract at market value. Context matters for that. Was it too much? Probably but he was a legitimate 50 point C that played a solid 2 way game until Randy got his hands on him and the best UFA C that year.

@TheLoovTrain @sniperstar @Yaknowwhat Didn't Gerber cause us to draft Kadri instead of Schenn?

@Yaknowwhat I think I'm going to wait 15 more games before I come to this conclusion but if things continue on this trend I might have to jump on board.

Although knowing the Leafs. We'd trade Phil, Ph9 and Lupul and we'd go and win 15 straight to put us back in the playoff picture.

@dlb Mad @Xxxxxnew What he needs to do is make a video package comparing and contrasting the penalties called on us and what the Wings got away with.

@T K O Even Crosby didn't do it single handedly. They also had Malkin, MAF, Staal at the time.

@Omac13 I don't want Brodeur. He is old and looked okay with New Jersey. Not good, just okay. He would get eaten up in Toronto.

@Omac13 I don't trade Reimer or Bernier yet. They still need to battle it out. One good game does not a season make.

@Yan28 @Cloud09 @Bruffins I guess the fear with Gards putting on muscle is him losing his skating ability. Although with how things are... He probably needs to beef up.

@dlb Mad I never thought Gardiner was a swift skater. He has good speed but it's the way he dances up the ice and uses his edges that makes him a great skater in my eyes. He rides on the surface so well and is efficient, which keeps him from tiring easily. At least that's what I see with him.

@gjdevlin I don't mind Yak assuming we aren't giving up anything too big ofc. Edmonton would probably want something big though. Thus no Yak.

@Mcost61 He's a thinker and he knows how the game works. I feel like this has a lot more to do with players being where they need to be and him knowing where they should be.

As well the skill of an NHerL are obviously a lot higher. someone mentioned it the other night but in the AHL if he sent a pass to a player and if it's in their skates it's a turn over. In the NHL if he sent that same pass it's off the skate onto the stick and an odd man rush.

@GreekGod @sniperstar @Dangle_My_Berries @deedrag @Mcost61 Not if you aren't doing it this season. Especially when you have guys like Rielly, Polak, and Percy playing well. Ph9 is the captain and despite some adjustment hasn't been as bad as people make him out to be. I already covered Robidas and Franson came into his first game and was good. He revived the 1st PP unit and was solid in our end. He made a couple of bad give aways but overall wasn't that bad.

@GreekGod @sniperstar @Dangle_My_Berries @deedrag @Mcost61 No. Because Percy has been lights out this far. Gards has not been. Percy was making plays like a 10 year vet.

@Mcost61 @sniperstar @Burtonboy Our team doesn't need to worry about money. Booth could also end up being a 40 point player for us. He has the ability it's a matter of whether he can find it again.

@Mcost61 @sniperstar @Burtonboy But we can let the guys like Leivo dominate the Minors and develop slowly. If he goes down and shows he should be called up i.e putting up a PPG. Then we move Booth for a low pick or something. It's not the end of the world. If the Marleis show they belong here we can make space.

@GreekGod @dlb Mad Out of all the DMan we were going to sit out. It was Robidas or Gards. You don't sit a vet who you just gave the A. They get the benefit of the doubt. So Gards got sat and we won. Franson looked better than Gards in that game.

@GreekGod @Dangle_My_Berries @deedrag @Mcost61 Yeah but JVR, Bozak and Kessel have all got a body of work bigger than half a season. Kessel has been a ppg player for 3 years now. JVR has been good, Bozak looked bad but was still putting up points. You don't sit these guys partly for that reason. But also we don't have the horses in the wings that can take over for these guys.

Percy has pushed Gardiner out of the line up. Franson has been good since coming back in. Does he make his mistakes? Yes, but he at least competes in the corners. Willing to take contact.

@GreekGod @deedrag @Mcost61 It's not about last season anymore. They have looked good this season. Gards has been shady in his own zone this year and gets beat in every board battle.

@LyGuy @Savo43 @T K O Well missing camp can really put a guy a step or two behind to start. But I agree by the time we got to the 30th or so game he should have been back up to speed.

What I think may be of interest is the injury rumor surrounding Franson last season. If this was true it can explain why he looks more solid now.

It's still 2-2.6 million too high but it was fun to try and create. I kept Reimer in there but it could just as easily be Bernier and that would bring the cap up 0.6 mil

@dlb Mad @sniperstar Well in my scenario. Santa and Komarov become our 4th line. Which makes us even deeper. But I know what you mean.

Reply

@TheLoovTrain @sniperstar @Biltmore Yeah. But if you look at my roster we never sign Clarkson because we kept Grabovski around ;). So it's only 7 mil but I know what you mean. It probably wouldn't fit under the cap. I also think if Kulemin stays here he doesn't take 4 mil.

6 days, 12 hours ago on Game Review: Game #4, Toronto Maple Leafs 3 vs. Colorado Avalanche 2 (OT)

Reply

@dlb Mad @sniperstar Well. People expected Kulemin to repeat 30, which was ridiculous. Grabo was still a 40 point player at least with strong defensive capabilities. MacArthur was still a solid 40-50 point player too. I think they would have made for a deep team.

6 days, 12 hours ago on Game Review: Game #4, Toronto Maple Leafs 3 vs. Colorado Avalanche 2 (OT)

@Biltmore Can you imagine if we had kept those 3.

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Kulemin
MacArthur - Grabovski - Frattin
Leo - Santa - Winnik

Ofc idk if that would work under the cap. Probably not if Kulemin really wanted that 4 mil salary he's getting with NYI.

@Luke_R @sniperstar @Cameron19 I guess that can lead one to think he'll be slow. Especially when you mention he's the stay at home type. But all the scouting reports said he was a good skater. I too was surprised by how fast he was b/c i didn't think he'd be that good of a skater.
