The Cup or Bust.
@TorontoMapleLeafs He really loves going short side on goalies. It's quite impressive actually.

@Claymish Talking to an Isles fan they want a left winger. Making JVR or Lupul a better fit.
5 hours, 17 minutes ago on Monday Mashup: Ken Hitchcock Watch, Toronto Marlies take 2-0 lead
Despite the lack of mobility. Franson has always been pretty solid at puck possession.
18 hours, 17 minutes ago on Monday Mashup: Ken Hitchcock Watch, Toronto Marlies take 2-0 lead
@DWCMLHS What 2nd line? They have 2 first lines...
19 hours, 6 minutes ago on Monday Mashup: Ken Hitchcock Watch, Toronto Marlies take 2-0 lead
@skiingallday Gibson, Carrick and the whole PK looked great on that 5 on 3.

@Radar O'Rielly Stefan was still better than 4th overall pick Pavel Brendl!
1 day, 3 hours ago on Monday Mashup: Ken Hitchcock Watch, Toronto Marlies take 2-0 lead
@hometeem @sniperstar I think they are counting from when they are back in Toronto. So from 05-06 to now.
1 day, 4 hours ago on Monday Mashup: Ken Hitchcock Watch, Toronto Marlies take 2-0 lead
@hometeem Well the Marlies are a relatively young team. Also, it speaks to how the AHL is. We haven't had many career AHLers on our teams that stay consistently.
@totalrebuild That is the scouts consensus. I personally think he has more than we've seen out of him. Barzal was a possible top 5 pick coming into the year and he started slow than got injured. He then dropped into the teens and worked his way back into the top 10 conversation.
I could see him being the steal of the draft. His playmaking, skating and IQ really excite me. But I wouldn't take him with our 4th overall. I'd try to grab another top 10 to get him.
1 day, 5 hours ago on Toronto Marlies Open Thread: Marlies score touchdown in Game 1 win; Game 2 goes Sunday
@zoidbergman @sniperstar @Mitch92 @TorontoMapleLeafs @WereRiellyDoingThis Not terrible. It lead to Rielly, Nylander and some guys on the Marlies we are pretty excited about. Biggs was a bad pick.
I honestly think if Burke wasn't fired we'd be looking at a completely different team right now. But Nonis went out and fucked us.
@Jon5200 I want to see Frattin set up on our half wall wiring 1Ts on the PP with the Leafs. He did it a lot in college and is doing it with the Marlies. Could be a legitimate threat in the NHL.
@zoidbergman @sniperstar @Mitch92 @TorontoMapleLeafs @WereRiellyDoingThis Yeah. I'm in the same boat. We gave up 2 picks to grab him... Which Anaheim used on Gibson and Rakell... While we took Biggs. I wish we had left Biggs alone and let Detroit grab him like many thought they would.
@Mitch92 @sniperstar @zoidbergman @TorontoMapleLeafs @WereRiellyDoingThis Then you move him for whatever you can get. But I just don't think it's worth giving up on Biggs quite yet.
@Mitch92 @itsatossup That's seems like a pretty ridiculous thing to do. But if true I'd be quite impressed.
@Jimmie Dorey @sniperstar @TOHockeyNut Well, Marner played C in the playoffs. I honestly think he gets switched to C next year with Dvorak and Domi likely making the jump to play with the Coyotes farm team.
I've watched both Strome and Marner play and every time I've seen them Marner looks like the better player. I've also noticed that Strome often looks like a winger in the defensive zone and less like a C.
Anywho. We can debate this all day but we have no idea with the Leafs management team are thinking.
@zoidbergman @TorontoMapleLeafs @WereRiellyDoingThis He's 21 and big... He might just take some time to develop more. You don't give up on a kid like this at 21...
@WereRiellyDoingThis @TorontoMapleLeafs You realize Marner has blown away Kadri's point totals in their draft year? Hell he even blew away Kadri's totals if you look at his draft +1 year. I don't know where you are hearing Marner will just be another Kadri type. As well Marner is already playing a great 200 foot game as reported by many scouts.
@Jimmie Dorey @TOHockeyNut I still think Marner > Strome.
@itsatossup It's been noticed since pre-season man. Lol. One of the things a lot of people liked about him was that shiftiness
@Burtonboy Keep your head up bud.
@Dogger I can see us giving MacWilliam a long look. Considering his age and what not.

@Hammertownleaffan @Jay31 + Your prospects.
At least Ziggy was good in the dot though.

To think Hossa fell in their laps... Freaking hell
Depends on how the division leaders get knocked out.
Its a great blend of size, skill and two way play.
Frattin is starting to look like a career AHL superstar. I guess we'll see what happens with him next year though.
They've been through it so much. It's a team of pressure hardened vets at this point.
@Radar O'Rielly No McDavid. So Matthews here we come!
3 days, 3 hours ago on Saturday Mashup: Marlies Playoff Game Day
@Jay_Berg If Hanifin is there I'd probably take him too. I think it's Hanifin > Marner > Strome.
3 days, 6 hours ago on Saturday Mashup: Marlies Playoff Game Day
@Mitch_S2 @sniperstar @Jay_Berg Really? I didn't know that. Lol.
@Jay_Berg Same could be said for Strome. Especially with his skating. If you watch Strome play he seems to be a C for the face-offs and that's about it. From what I see, Strome is rarely the 3rd man back and when he is in the defensive zone he seems to be playing more of a wings role. Of course, most of what I've seen of him is in the play offs so maybe it wasn't like this during the season.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krAX-yI4CKY&spfreload=10 Check out Strome in the defensive zone. Usually playing in what would seem like a wingers role.
@Jay_Berg He played C for all of the playoffs and performed well. Of course it's a small sample size but he probably plays C next year for London.
@WereRiellyDoingThis @sniperstar @Mitch_S2 @Archie Vanlanda Well, Kessel has been a PPG regardless of Bozak, JVR or Lupul. Even the year Lupul went down after 66 games and Kessel had Joey F'ing Crabb on his line. He still put up a ppg.
Not to deny that they don't help him. But I think the arrow goes largely in one direction between Kessel and Bozak at least.
@Cameron19 @sniperstar @Burtonboy @Mitch_S2 That's fair, he does have skating issues. I just like what I've seen from him in the few viewings I've had against Florida. Seems solid as a rock. You've probably watched him more than I have so...
@Burtonboy @Mitch_S2 I'd agree. I'd start around a guy like Gudbranson and build the trade from there.
@Mitch_S2 @sniperstar I think someone jumps on Zacha within the top 10. Just a feeling.
@Mitch_S2 @sniperstar There's no one around 11 that I really want. I think Provorv, Zacha, Crouse, Barzal and Werenski are gone by then. Of course if one of them falls then I'm leaning more towards liking this deal.
Not that you can't get a good player like Rantanen there. Hmmmm.
@Mitch_S2 @sniperstar Ohhh I didn't see you included Matheson... Hmmm. It does make it better.
@Mitch_S2 @sniperstar We get a 1st round and 2nd round pick for Kessel and Polak... And a player who we might be able to snag for free in August... I don't like it.
@Mitch_S2 @Archie Vanlanda @WereRiellyDoingThis You can't deny that McDavid also benefited from Strome. Skilled players make each other better. So did having McDavid make Strome better? Yes of course it did. But the connection is a two way street.

@Mitch_S2 The hell...
@Dogger Damn... Thanks for the update on the box score.

@Dogger Not watching the game tonight. Has he looked bad? What kind of goals were scored when he was on the ice?
@jimmyg65 @mcloki I think we take Marner even if Strome is available. How do you like them apples.

@MaxwellHowe Or teams simply aren't asking because everyone knows the price will be sky high.

@peterbleafs This is global warming. Oddly enough it can cause changes in the climate at both extremes. Not just hot but also cold. It's poorly called global warming when really we should just call it the climate change problem.
@Jimmie Dorey @sniperstar @Savo43 Yeah that's true. Nonis should have strong armed Randy in that situation.
