Yeah and Kadri can't play with Kessel.  lol

The idea that someone would enjoy getting a paycheque for doing nothing instead of working at a job they love is absurd and a notion mostly held by schmucks who hate their jobs.

You're the "silly" one.

Felt like a temporary change. Bower and Howe at the Winter Classic. Might not have these guys around for much longer. They were summertime fishing buddies in their playing days.

If it looks like Stamkos is going to test the market, we wouldn't give Yzerman the time of day nevermind that package

Don't recall Burke's exact words. He did say we need 8 NHL capable defencemen for the season but I don't think his intention was to have them all on the 23 man roster at the same time. For most of his time here we were a classic 14 F/ 7 D team with potential call-ups on the Marlies. Management appears to have decided to move on from Franson and use right side callups as injury replacements and try to get one more left side D.

His best chance will be with Kadri. After the stuff that happened in college leading to his suspension I don't think he really got the message I hoped he would.

For all the hits that Franson is credited with he doesn't do much damage. I don't think of him as a feared hitter that makes other players pay. That's what I take from my visual, beyond the numbers.

People generally do not write off 2nd rounders as a waste of time. Most do acknowledge that only 25 to 30% will play 200 or more games in the NHL. And a player can have a 200 game career and not make much of a mark.

But if this is in reference to trading Franson, it seems this team, as structured, would benefit more from adding working pieces, somewhat developed players where possible, than 2nd or 3rd round picks that probably won't contribute for another 4, 5, 6 years.

Haven't heard anything but it always seemed to me it would come down to the Leafs or Sweden even though the Marlies were the obvious popular choice for us. There is still a challenge for him to develop without riding the buses on an ahl salary.

EDIT: He's only played 22 games with MODO.

@Xxxxxnew I see McSorley listed as 235 lbs. at Hockey Reference and always believed there was a considerable difference in weight. I'm thinking the 190 is wrong.

I don't disagree with the McSorley interpretation . With Wendel the first 45 seconds were devastating and that was enough to take out most in his weight class, but as good as he was the heavyweights could absorb that and continue. In those heavyweight battles his stamina was limited and it appeared Wendel sometimes got injured wrestling in the latter part of a fight.

Probably wouldn't take us long to start tearing down Armstrong.

Maybe getting Stastny will mitigate concerns, but if I was a Blues supporter I wouldn't be happy about management electing to take Sobotka, 61.9% faceoffs ( a fan favourite), to arbitration and seeing him announce a deal in the KHL 3 days later. That's a bungled move and the loss of an asset imo.

Blues fans have got to be disappointed going from a high flying team with a strong playoff outlook during last year to finishing off the season on a 6 game losing streak and going out in the 1st round, after trading Halak for Miller. (too much tinkering with a good thing, one move too many?)

The rest of that trade amounts to Ott for Stewart, Carrier (good prospect #57 - 2013), 2015 - 1st, 2016 - 3rd. Not good asset management.

Again Stastny should help there or Armstrong may have weakened his team in other areas that could show up this season.

Arbitrator will hand down ruling within 48 hours.

Team can walkaway from a one year award of $3.5M or over within 48 hours.

If it's player elected arbitration and the team chose 2 years (sounds like the team has to choose 1 or 2 years at the start of the hearing before the award is made), team can walk away from the first year but must sign the player at the arbitration award amount for the second year, then becomes UFA at the end of the season.

Team with only the one player in arbitration must make walkaway decision within 48 hours.

Teams with 2 or more players in arbitration can make that decision within 48 hours of their final arb. case.

Player can be traded after the award.
