Might be good but a lot of people think they could be pro golfers. lol

Reminds me of a story from Dennis Hull about how good Gordie Howe was at other sports.

“Today,” said Dennis Hull, “a guy is 36 or 37 and they talk about the career winding down. Gordie played 15 more years after that. He was a once-in-a-lifetime guy. A beautiful skater, always in control of the puck, in position, tough, and what a wrist shot. He had it all."

“I played against him, of course, but one day in the summer, we were playing golf in Halifax. We were the first ones out, just after dawn, nice course, no practice balls, just get up and hit it. He shoots 68. And [former Major League manager] Lou Boudreau told me in Chicago he watched Gordie hit baseballs in Tiger Stadium and tried to sign him to a contract with the [Cleveland] Indians. “So I said: ‘Gordie, you’re the greatest hockey player of all time, you just shot 68 and you could have played major league baseball. It doesn’t seem fair.’ He said, ‘You should see me bowl.’”

Could be right. I was looking at who might play in the top 12F. Booth seems like the odd man out unless he impresses or Ashton doesn't. Wonder if Bodie would be better as an extra forward than Booth.

Just guessing anyway. Big time watch, wait and see with this roster, for me.

Unless the team has already made up their mind that Ashton will be moved, I could see him sticking if he has a good camp and Booth put on waivers if he doesn't impress. (didn't PK or PP much with VAN. last year)

Good luck. Probably not totally improvised but a nice changed worked in from playing and noodling with the song so much.

Play, play, play.  I read somewhere a player that knew Hendrix, said he had the guitar on 24/7 whether he was going to the fridge or taking a dump.

Back when Meadowvale was a hamlet with a few houses, a gas station and a store on the Credit River, not a subdivision.

Unrealistic.  Clarkson has 79 assists in 486 career games. Don't expect to see 30 in the next 82 games. That's not finding your game that's reinventing it and taking it to higher levels than ever before.

I'll settle for solid play and 20+ goals from Clarkson this year.

No doubt it would be foolish to disregard the possibility that dealing with a Tanenbaum, Rogers vs Bell split became difficult, but I always consider the change in climate and lifestyle for spouse and family of huge importance when someone drops in from the sunbelt.

We know Leiweke doesn't have to do it for the money. With a rumoured 4% ownership holding in AEG, that's approx. $400M right there.

I could see him getting involved with the Clippers especially if Ballmer has offered a ownership stake in that organization and perhaps a better shot at the NFL there.

So who knows, just don't discount location, location, location as a solid piece of the reason and that it affects the others.

Just a little surprised that Leiweke never came up with a "big idea" to improve the business of MLSE. imo

What I didn't like about this Tim period was how so many people misunderstood who and what Leiwkeke is.

All the "Tim's going to do this", "Tim's going to want this (type of) player" was off base. Tim Leiweke eventually did what he should do, confirm he doesn't "know" hockey, hire a hockey guy and get out of the way. Which was all he needed to do as a business man hired to make all arms of MLSE work best.

After I came to terms with the notion that Leiweke is a business executive not a nuts and bolts hockey guy I could appreciate that he might accomplish something for ownership but would not affect the day to day or even year to year operations of the Leafs.

Some people, perhaps including yourself, saw Leiweke as a more hands on guy than he could ever be, or perhaps were enamoured by what one might call inspirational talk.

Tanenbaum seems to be a 'name' people blame for some events of the past. I was out of the country for some of that, perhaps some things are true, but it seems that after a period of time he knew enough to step out of the way and leave hockey to a hockey guy but he then lost power to the unholy duo. It seems lately that when these guys like Tanenbaum and Peddie learn, they loose authority and the process starts again. Personally I don't have problems with Tanenbaum and would welcome his acquisition of a majority ownership.

Nonsense. Dave Nonis didn't keep two guys he didn't want, for 2 years and then decide to get rid of them while waiting an extra three and a half months after the season is over. It's delusional to think that is what happened here..

@ingy56 This part mentions Junior but is for season ending circumstance.

(c) During the seasons set forth in (a) and (b) above, the age 18 and age 19 Player,

respectively, may be Loaned to the minor league team affiliate of his Club when his Junior team is no longer in competition and provided he has been listed on the Club's minor league eligibility

list.

8.7 Age 18 and 19 Players.

(a) During the first two seasons next succeeding the draft of an age 18 Player, the

Club he signs an SPC with must first offer him to the club from which he was claimed before it may Loan him.

Thought i knew that about a month ago and would agree with what Eliot said earlier. Not really sure now.

Make sense out of this,,,, or have another puff.  lol

"(i) In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC with a

Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season

under that SPC, the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry

Level System shall be extended for a period of one (1) year, except that

this automatic extension will not apply to a Player who is 19 according to

Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September 16 and December

31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club

expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an

additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC,

with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary,

games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided,

however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all

circumstances."

Let the Leafs figure it out.  lol

There's a provision in the CBA that says a player must be offered to his pre-draft club if not kept. Not sure if it applies here.

Nylander may have to be offered to his European club (pre-draft team) before he can be sent to the Marlies. Not sure if it applies in this case or they may not request it, especially if Nylander wants to go to the Marlies. Not that I think he does.

I believe the problem with Nylander playing 9 games at the start of the season will be that the team will have to expose one more player on waivers to get down to 23 on the roster. So unless they are sure they will keep him I doubt he stays at all.

This format was adopted because Anthony didn't want to sift through all comments to find the ones that specifically addressed his topics. It's too bad a method like an X in a box to designate relevant comments couldn't be incorporated into the comments box instead of having multiple threads.

While I have problems with how the numbers that gauge quality of competition are arrived at, I disagree with the notion that these analytics people have that the competition faced is basically irrelevant. Seems too convenient to dismiss so easily.
