@Bon Scott was a Leaf fan @skiingallday ah, yea it ain't the prettiest, but I loved the interior more than the others, still got the harmon kardon audio without needing to buy all the fancy nav shit. Also, the sightlines are way better, it feels like you have way more visibility than the other suvs because of the lower sill height in the forester.

@Burtonboy @skiingallday yes, I believe it would be an extremely powerful tool if used properly by them. The difference between a traditional "relational database" and a 'big data database" is that it's not strucured like SQL, its very flexible and each cell of data can be accessed by a keyvalue pair. This allows you to be able to pour massive amounts of data in, that may not be all in the same format, without enduring massive costs to curate it to make it the exact same format (same column names ect...).

Current SQL databases make it really hard to add a lets say a "circle" to a database with a million "triangles", whereas something based on googles BigTable design (accumulo ect..) will allow you to add it as long as it has a defined key value (such as a combination of time stamp, id of circle, permissions for others to view) and it will just store the key value into the table, which is then used to fetch the circle instead of trying to store the "circle" itself in the table.

Kind of a rambling explantion, but its early, and I'm not even sure how many of you care about this lol.

@Burtonboy loved that article, right now I'm interning at a company that is focused on big data in healthcare. It's really fascinating. The term "Big Data" itself is a little misleading, yes you want to be able to store a fuckton of data, but your not going to look at all of it at once. What it really helps with is filtering down to view a smaller subset of data that you might not be able to see with a traditional relational database.

Think of it like google maps, if you search for "italian restaurant" its not gonna show you every italian restaurant in the world. Google, although they have a huuuuge database full of restaurants with a tag for "italian" it will filter it down and provide you with a small, mangagable, but useful subset of data. For ex. it might provide 4&5 star review italian restaurants within 5km of your house.

This is what germany is doing as well, with soccer, which is brilliant, because with big data analysis it's much easier to find correlations between different problems (ex. diabetes & increased heart problems) or (completed passes by Ozil & offensive zone time) which can prove to be extremely powerful. I really hope the leafs trend in this direction.

Big Data is the future of databases (Analyzing useful smaller chunks of data derived from an extremely large set of data)

@Burtonboy @skiingallday but if that's the "high" end from Subbans camp... then I still feel that MTL is lowballing him. Guy should be making at least 7mil minimum. He's one of the best Dmen in the league.

Wow, so looking at the Habs vs Subban they're really far apart. I feel like Subbans camp has more reasonable demands, but I could see him making more than Captain Pylon.
