@Bon Scott was a Leaf fan @Greg Fenton Bergeron too,  I think Charra is more important to the team than him.

@TML__fan The Sabres used to have a very good PK.  They put a lot of pressure on the point men and forced them to make quick decisions.  Often times quick decisions become poor decisions.

4 more weeks.  Things will start picking up soon, maybe once the kids are back in school they'll start skating.  Those that have gone home for the summer will start heading back to their teams soon too.

@Luke_R @Optimustic I'd have to really like him, but I know what you're saying.   I do think that they're gearing up for a cup run, so prospects may not be as important as experience and leadership.

@Luke_R @Optimustic I like it, but if I were them I wouldn't be trading a good 20 year old for a 37 year old too easily.

@Luke_R @Optimustic @Murph2417 @Cameron19 I thought you meant Faksa or Gaunce instead of Faksa and Gaunce.

Just spitballin is what I was doing too.  Trying to drum up some hockey conversation.   Plus I know they're looking for D and we're looking for top 6 forwards.

@Cameron19 @Optimustic True enough, his defensive shortcomings may have as much to do with our systems( of lack thereof) so he may be more valuable to another team who thinks they could make him work in their system.

@Luke_R @Murph2417 @Optimustic @Cameron19 I'd do that deal in a heartbeat, but does Dallas?   I'm not so sure.  I've never been a fan of Biggs though.

@Murph2417 @Optimustic @Cameron19 Leivo has potential for sure, but I like the Centre over the winger.   Like I said, I'm not sure how good Faksa is going to be.

@Cameron19 @Optimustic I don't consider Franson to be that good of a player, and I'm not sure how good Faksa is.  I don't believe he's played much in the NHL yet.  That said, he was highly touted during his draft year, so I don't think they'd give him away for nothing.

I'd think maybe Leivo and Franson.

With the Stars looking to add to their D-core,  and the same being on of our stronger areas of depth, what would it take to get a good prospect out of Dallas for Franson  + ?  I'm thinking of a player like Faksa, though we'd have to add a good prospect I'd think.

@Hmmm @Optimustic @Xxxxxnew Agreed, if the 3rd and 4th lines improve dramatically from last year, it should help the whole team.  It's been mentioned often that the top line was burned out because RC couldn't trust the rest of the lineup

.  That said, RC is still the coach so I'm not going to buy into anything new until I see it with my own eyes.   He didn't know how to fix the problems last year so I'm not ready to believe in him until he proves himself.

@Xxxxxnew @Optimustic Yeah, I wasn't posting it because I'm a Frattin fan, ( though I do like and hope the best for him) but at least it's a story.  I will say that Frattin is the type of player that may be able to play most anywhere in the lineup if he sticks.  Flexibility may be his biggest asset.

@Cali...Leaf Camp opens for physicals on Sept. 11.  24 days I think, with the rookie tourney starting on the 13th and preseason games start on the 22, or 35 days.  It won't be long till we're counting the hours down.  :-)Edit  - the link I just posted was for last season, but I'm pretty sure that the dates of the rookie tourney and the first preseason game are correct.

Good article Dave.  Just pointing out a minor typo after the second graph, Bozak's IPP should read 62nd of 346 instead of 326, to reflect what the graph says.

I don't feel that the top line scoring production was a problem at all last season.  If we can vastly improve our d-zone pressure and spend more time in the o-zone, we'll be much better off, especially if that translates to more production from the bottom 6 \ 9.

Very good analysis Anthony:   You mention that it;s not just the players because "many times we have heard player X has been acquired and he is a good penalty killer (Jason Blake, Colby Armstrong, Kris Versteeg, Hal Gill, Pavel Kubina, etc). Did all these guys suddenly forget how to run a box-diamond PK? " , the same thing apples to our defence in general.

 Looking forward to part-2.

Fabrice Herzog with 3 goals in 5 games for the Swiss.   It may not sound like much, but it's a third of all Swiss goals scored thus far.    Andreas Johnson has 3 goals and 4 helpers for Sweden and is a +5.but the team he plays on is likely much better than the Swiss team. Gauthier hasn't seemed to have had a good tourney at all. 1 assist and a -2 makes me hope he's playing in a total checking role.
