Seriously can't believe this fanbase is talking about tanking. Gzuz lollll. We fell apart due to many ailing factors, one of them being behind our bench. That being said we still have a good team, and a very solid farm waiting to be unleashed in the big leagues. Stay the course, let the garbage walk and continue to plant seeds. A complete overhaul is not in the cards, a couple trades or a serious addition will be. We aren't about to tank, and we never will, we will have to win a cup with our own blueprint, much to the likes of every other team that does it.....differently. We need to quit trying to mimic the pathetic organizations of the league, and operate our own way. Fact of the matter is, we can't sit dormant and let a #1 overall pick go under the radar for half a season like MacKinnon did. If it was us who picked MacKinnon, we would've been complaining 30 games into the season, saying that we should've picked Monahan because at the time he was outproducing him. Thats Toronto for ya.

@Jay31 @Belfour20/JB-45 No we really don't deserve a talent like that. We're talking about trading two players who have helped turn this team around in the last couple of years. Two guys who signed long year deals because they love hockey in Toronto, and they want to win here. But yeah, lets toss them to the wayside, because we "deserve" better talent. LOL. Yeah, no.
21 hours, 30 minutes ago on Toronto Marlies to face Milwaukee Admirals in Round 1
@Belfour20/JB-45 With that logic, Edmonton would be a hell of a team right now. Just because MacKinnon is a beast, doesn't mean McDavid will be. MacKinnon was a memorial cup champion, playing for an incredibly talented junior team, championships were bred into his dna playing with a guy like Drouin and Ehlers. Playing with those guys could only help his confidence and ability to become an even better player. To say the same would happen for McDavid and to trade away your best players in hopes of getting that draft pick, is not only pathetic, but extremely risky. A #1 overall pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs would be way to much pressure for any 18 year old.

@Bruffins @[BBirde] How bout the team thats up 1-0 on them right now? Detroit is a damn good team when they're healthy. Especially with Nyquist and Tatars emergence.

@ShiftyD @~Keon Why are ppl surprised? Hockey players are the mouthiest fuckers in the world. They say shit in the game, doesn't mean they carry that mentality off the ice. I dont know how many players ive played against that laugh at the site of an injury. Not saying its ok, just saying that i'm sure Backes would say the same to Keith.
@ShiftyD @Savo43 Yeahhh, add to that, that they basically found 2 new stars half way through the season in Nyquist and Tatar, and they aren't your typical 8th seed. Seems as though the Datsyuk and Zetterberg injuries were a blessing in disguise for them.
1 day, 16 hours ago on Morning Mashup
@ShiftyD Boston wont get past Detroit imo.
@Jmessih PS: easily a number 2 on our team. Similar to Vlasic.
@Jmessih Hjalmarsson is a hell of a dman. Great number 3 guy.
@Cameron19 So will Crawford.
Good to see the Blues do something against a good team.
So what is the likelihood of us giving Winnipeg a serious run at Kane?
So let me get this straight...we were 3 place for a large portion of the year..but after a coach induced collapse (he doesn't play for than 3 lines, and misuses and mistreats players publicly, causing a disruption) we suddenly have bad management, Phil Kessel is no longer a top 10 player in the league, Phaneuf all of the sudden sucks, and the pieces put in place to move forward are no longer any good? Wtf is with this psychotic fan base. Sorry but alot of you say one thing, than a couple weeks later, are on the complete other end of the spectrum. One circumstance does not define this organization and next year will prove that.

@Mattmark @philthethrill @Savo43 @CanuckUKinToronto Right. Nonis has been GM for just over 1 year. A little early to gage.

@philthethrill @Savo43 @CanuckUKinToronto Oh ok, you have me convinced. hah.
@Mattmark @Savo43 @philthethrill @CanuckUKinToronto Nonis took a risk in a weak draft. If Bolland doesn't get hurt, it isn't a bad move. Mostly because we probably make playoffs.
@philthethrill @Savo43 @CanuckUKinToronto We are?
@philthethrill @Savo43 @CanuckUKinToronto Bolland is gone imo.
@Mattmark @CanuckUKinToronto @Savo43 If anything theres more chance of him leaving. They have a lot of contracts coming fourth that address more of their future. Can't see them handcuffing themselves with a long term contract.
@CanuckUKinToronto @Savo43 not so sure about that.
Stastnys GT and GWG last night probably earned him another big contract somewhere in FA.

Or we could take the best player available

Something tells me Shanahan will be looking at Evander Kane this offseason as a player that reminds him of himself, and encourages Nonis to do what it takes to acquire him. I hope that comes to fruition as a definite possibility, but i'm curious as to whether or not his attitude would be a detriment to the locker room. Also, in an unrelated note, i wonder if having Shanahan in the Leafs organization today, makes Yzerman as GM a possibility down the line.

@Jmessih @Savo43 @loomx @GreekGod Im a smaller guy, so im a little biased towards the capability and use of a smaller, faster player lolll. I understand the need for something a little safer, that addresses more of a need though, ala that top 6 center type with the physical assets more suited to succeed. That said though, i still hope we make that risky/sexy pick that could make us out like bandits at the end of the day. Sick of Detroit making those picks, mind you...somehow they hit theres in the later rounds -.-. Could definitely see Ehlers being a Tatar type though, and that really intrigues me.
@loomx @GreekGod That's the thing for sure, Ehlers could be gone. If he's still there though, that'd be great.
@Jmessih @loomx @GreekGod Drouin is a small kid too, but if he somehow re-entered the draft, id take him. Ehlers is faster, and very similar. I'd be pumped if we took him. Star potential, and he's played with some damn good players. High risk, even higher reward. I like it. Sick of the Gauthier, Biggs and Percy style picks. Its time we swing for the fences. Thats just me though.
@leafersutherland @Savo43 Kessel would score more than 40 points left handed. Trotz wouldn't hinder that. Thats just you hearing that he's a defense first coach, and assuming he doesn't know what offense is. You're wrong. If he can squeeze 20+ goals out of a defenseman, im pretty sure he could find offensive situations for Kessel. Dumb comment.

@leafersutherland If Kessel scores 40 points and we win 50 games, then im cool with it.
Trotz will be our coach i bet

@NotTheCanucksnaphook @Bruffins I never thought Luke was solid lol. Always looked like Aki Berg to me. Granberg played solid last night. That 4 on 1 breakup he did was sick. Pumped that we have a righty in the system that can make the jump next season. Potentially solves an issue or two. Cough, Franson, cough Gleason.
1 week ago on And that’s a wrap
How do you mention Knodel, then say we have no offensive minded righties @Cameron19 ? He's basically Franson with better feet and (uhoh) less strength.
1 week, 1 day ago on Peter DeBoer makes some sense as the Maple Leafs’ next head coach
@LeafsForLife @ShiftyD @Cameron19 Watch him get a hattrick now and a 6 yr deal. lolll.
@17Forever @Savo43 I'd move Gardiner to forward, because lets be honest, the dude gets turned inside out the moment he skates backwards, but he's actually really effective in the offensive corners, can cycle, and forecheck. I'd let Robidas, MacWilliam, and Holzer address the issues we have defensively (Still use Gardiner on the point for the PP). Just not sure the organization wants to take that chance. I would love it though.
To WPG: Lupul, Reimer, 9th overall
To Tor: Kane
Sign: Stastny, Robidas, Elliott
2nd (next year)
@rustynail @Savo43 @loomx ridiculous man...Randy rewarded players in his first year as coach, Nonis brought in names, but to Randy those names brought and apparently came with entitlement. I think Randy made Nonis look worse than Nonis himself did.
@17Forever @Savo43 Gunnarsson makes 3 mill, and is easily a 2nd pairing dman. He imo would flourish there. He's more than likely staying.
@vinoa @Savo43 @17Forever agreed.
@17Forever @Cloud09 @MaxwellHowe Why do ppl shit on veterans here? Having 1 or 2 throughout the lineup is NOT a bad thing. In fact its great, it insures that youth have optimism about opportunity in the system, and its enhances our (dare i say) leadership, something we clearly lacked in our last 14 games of the year.
@17Forever @MaxwellHowe Robidas is not offensive...
@17Forever Gunnar is underrated for what he does. One of our best DEFENDERS, at times. Very smart positionally, he works hard, blocks a shit load of shots, has a good stick, and underrated first pass and offensive ability. I'd hold on to him. I'd like Greene or Ericsson though for sure.
@loomx Not sure about his seasons numbers on the dot, but his faceoffs got a lot better toward the end as well. But yeah he's definitely dangerous on the PP, i think Raymond takes away from that notion though. I imagine Leivo in his place on that powerplay though..now that'd be a nice 2nd unit. Naz should be on the top one for sure though.
Deboer has a similar temper to Randy. Thus the "pistol pete" reference Kadri makes. Not sure that would bode well here, but who knows.
@Jay31 Gaborik-Kopitar-Williams, King-Richards-Carter, Toffoli-Stoll-Brown, Nolan-Lewis-Clifford. Not - That - Worried.
Just a hunch lol.

Gardiner, Lupul, Reimer
conditional pick (2nd if LA wins division or if Leafs miss playoffs, 3rd if LA misses playoffs, or if Leafs make playoffs..3rd if both teams miss playoffs).
Sign: Stastny, Elliott
It would be a green defense with much less offensive power, but WAYY better defense. Gunnarsson and Percy would do decently on PP2 as well, i wouldn't be too worried about it. Losing Gardiner would be bloody tough, but Kane is a beast so..i think we still come out solidly in that trade. Lewis does amazing things for our PK, as does Brown, the promotion of MacWilliam, D'amigo, and Holzer..maybe Kozun as well.

@LeafsForLife @Savo43 @Cloud09 @loomx About as buffa-low as you can go. This shit actually makes sense now that i think of it lol. I don't get why they traded Halak for Neuvirth though..still confused about that. It was a straight deal right?
@LeafsForLife @Savo43 @Cloud09 @loomx lolll, the good thing of all this is that I don't think they give a damn about Barffalo.
@LeafsForLife @Savo43 @Cloud09 @loomx I wouldn't be surprised if Phoenix won the lottery either lol. Wouldn't be surprised atttt all.
@Xxxxxnew Man, Jersey really shot themself in the foot with that Kovie shit though. They could've kept Parise and signed Suter instead of Minnesota and they'd be a lottttt better off.
@Xxxxxnew I think they have something like 2 shootout goals all year or something lolol. I could be wrong but i think thats what i heard on sportsnet earlier. Maybe they said 2 guys have scored shootout goals all year, but i dno. Crazy seeing as they were recently pretty sick in the shootout with Kovalchuk and Parise in their lineup.
