@djamon @gunner_36 Likely. That's why I'm suggesting adding to it. My point was that maybe they happen to survive the year alright (doubt it, but possible)... but that's barring injuries. Our depth at center is terrible, so it necessitates adding guys. Overall, it's kind of looking like we're fuck*d at center, unless Nonis can swing a trade, or we get really lucky and all of our guys take major steps forward.

Mike Santorelli could be an interesting stop-gap solution if we could get him cheap, rather than overpaying for Legwand, Roy, Boyle, etc. He's not ideal and may not provide much of anything if he regresses from last year (on pace for 17G, 47 PTS before shoulder injury), but if we can get him cheap with short term, there would be low risk and we could always dump him at the deadline for a late pick.A center group of Bozak, Kadri, Komarov, Holland and Carrick may not be that bad, but once injuries hit, there would be no surviving it.
@ShiftyD He was very hyped coming into this season, from what I remember. Not sure why he dropped in the rankings (didn't really follow him) but could be a steal for us.
9 months ago on Draft Day Two Wrap Up: Gunnarsson for Polak, offensive focus to Leafs’ draftees
@Cloud09 @MaxwellHowe If we can try and make a solid signing after the initial free agency hype like Raymond last year, or MacArthur a few years ago, that would be ideal.
@Cloud09 @gunner_36 @dlb Mad @Anthony Petrielli Haha thanks... heard about the trade and thought of my username, and figured it was a perfect time to check in
@Anthony Petrielli @gunner_36 @dlb Mad Oh, he was alright. Thinking of Wallin was enough to make me cry.
@dlb Mad @Anthony Petrielli Wallin? No, just no. Or am I thinking of the wrong guy?
@Ydargo Strong dislike.
9 months ago on Maple Leafs Trade Carl Gunnarsson, 4th round pick for Roman Polak
@RandomScrub @gunner_36 Fair enough. But I think we could have retained Gunnar (safety net if Rielly or Gardiner fail playing bigger minutes) and then acquired a guy like Morris or Fayne (instead of Polak). I feel like that would have been the best asset management.Gardiner-PhaneufRielly-FayneGunnar-Franson...or something like that
@RandomScrub Had we not picked up Polak, Derek Morris would have been a nice pick up. But he's nothing more than a 3rd pairing guy at this point of his career (although could fill in on the 2nd pairing if needed). Another reason I don't really like this trade.
@ShiftyD Please not Michalek.
Well, fuck... now I've got to think of something to change my username to.
@darthNihilus People love hating on Crosby, don't they. He complained about one hit. You also do realize that they want to get Crosby on cam, so there's a greater chance you're going to hear him complain about something? Guys are constantly talking to the refs, complaining about something, asking for a call for something. Why call someone a crybaby douchebag when we do the same?
1 year, 3 months ago on HBO 24/7: Leafs / Red Wings Episode #2 (Open Thread)
@darthNihilus I'm sure there's some they kick the cameras out for, but they watch video before/after games and stuff and go over strategy, plus they do that sort of thing in practice. They shouldn't need reminded in between periods a ton.
@dlb eh @gunner_36 Yeah that's what I meant... Gardiner is an effortless skater and can glide and turn so smoothly. He doesn't always seem super fast (Rielly definitely has a higher gear in straight-aways, as do a few other guys on the team- Kuli for sure) but I would bet that he could still be Clarkson. Gardiner's shown some pretty impressive speed at times. Was it against Pittsburgh maybe, he caught up to someone fast rushing the puck (might have been Crosby)... I was pretty impressed.
@dlb eh @gunner_36 Yeah I know, and Dion tried to turn it back on Crosby but I think he had a good point there that he doesn't throw many hits. You can tell Crosby and Phaneuf respect each other, and also love/hate playing against each other. Phaneuf seems to thrive playing against him.
@Knights2Leafs @MaxwellHowe Kadri did embellish that one. He's lucky he missed/Crosby got out of the way. Something tells me if he connected with that hit (he left his feet, led with his elbow, and was coming in high to the head of the best player in the league who also happens to have concussion history) Shanny would have made an example out of Naz. Definitely not what we needed. I like his fire and playing on the edge but he's really got to be careful, because we can't afford him getting suspended again right now.
@MaxwellHowe Might be because it wasn't trash talk?
@Knights2Leafs He's never been a strong skater. That's probably the biggest reason he wasn't drafted. He's gotten a bit better (faster for sure since junior) and makes things work, but he's certainly no Gardiner out there.
@dlb eh @Bobsyouruncle Well you can't give them KD before the bag skate, or someone will have an awful mess to clean up.
Love these episodes. I much prefer the Leafs stuff obviously, but it's pretty cool seeing some of the Detroit scenes too (although I'm glad there was less Krusty in this episode).Hope everyone affected made it through the storm unscathed.

So close by Phaneuf getting it arounf Sutter.
There's a call we don't get too often. Definitely worthy of one though.
Close. Nice rush Phaneuf.
D'Amigo should stay away from Bortuzzo.
B@Cameron19 But Phaneuf still sucks, right?
@Dangle_My_Berries No Phaneuf
How did he miss that?
@Alec Brownscombe Bortuzzo is 6'4'' or 6'5'' too, so the two don't combine well. Watched him play in Kitchener... tough defender and I'm sure he didn't mean to do that (although still worthy of a suspension for sure).
Good hit 10 years ago, definitely not now. He'll get 2-4 I'm guessing.
He got puck first so it's even legal!
Bernier lowers the boom!
@Alec Brownscombe Good kill by everyone.
@Dangle_My_Berries Thought he had it on the rebound.
@NotSince67 I'd like McLaren to do anything.
@mcloki No we wouldn't. No teams get suspensions for that. Kostka punched someone in the face/head on Saturday and didn't even get a call.
@-Keon- That's a pretty big accusation to make. Why would he not be playing right now if he wasn't legitimately affected by the attack?
@Alec Brownscombe @gunner_36 I disagree. I see the same polarizing/center of the universe effect that the Leafs get. Both the Leafs and Crosby get so much attention everything gets noticed. Both have targets on their backs. And both have people that either strongly love or strongly hate them, and creates a nasty divide between the two and blows things out of proportion.
@LeafsForLife @gunner_36 @Alec Brownscombe Same shit, different pot. Anyways, it resulted in "concussion-like symptoms." Wasn't it the same with Reimer? He never got diagnosed with a concussion, just had the concussion-like symptoms.
@Alec Brownscombe @gunner_36 I didn't say it was. Definition of predatory: seeking to exploit others. It's legal for Kadri to hit guys with their heads down/off-balance/whatever, but it's exploiting guys that are vulnerable (hey, I'm all for it-- as long as it's our guys doing it :P). So if a guy like Kadri that hits like that comes in and it looks blindside/high, a guy like Crosby isn't going to like it. Hardly makes him a "fucking puke."
@lukethenuke @Cameron19 I was going to say the ghost of Grabovski.
@Alec Brownscombe @gunner_36 Half of Kadri's hits are predatory. He likes catching guys that are off-balance or have their heads down.Crosby was concussed for the better part of two years thanks to a couple bad hits. He's probably not going to take too kindly to a hit that's even close to blindside and, as Bowen or Millen just pointed out, a little high.
@Alec Brownscombe @gunner_36 No but he probably doesn't want to receive blindside hits from guys with a history of making predatory hits (Kadri). If someone on Pittsburgh tried that shit on Kessel you would want someone to punch him in the mouth.
@Alec Brownscombe @gunner_36 Look again, it would have been if Crosby hadn't avoided. And Crosby is in the box, while Kadri isn't. How is that special treatment?
@Alec Brownscombe Kadri did try a blindside hit on him. I think Crosby would prefer to keep playing for the next 10+ years instead of getting another concussion.
@-Keon- I'd say Letang has an outside chance at this point. He's been injured a lot lately and hasn't played very well this year, plus he's a righty. I think with the other 4 righties you named first, there's room for maybe 1 more and then of course they will take 1-2 lefties out of the guys in your "outside chance" group.

@vinoa @gunner_36 No idea, but you're right so far so good. Things could still go south but got to treasure the good moments :)
