I found the simple life ain't so simple
@Coldincowtown I'd be far happier with a sell off and a rebuild with young players taught the right way to play professional hockey than I would bringing in expensive castoffs from other organizations in a feeble attempt to wring life out of this core group. Time to re-tool and get players with the right blend of character and talent.

@TheLoovTrain @ingy56 @Coldincowtown I'm dead serious, I 'm positive he would. I'd move just about anyone from that core right now, him included.

@Coldincowtown Kessel would sulk.
@wiski @ingy56 @Zep2 @Burtonboy Ditto, I turned of in disgust last night. First time in a while, I generally stick around to see how low it will go but I couldn't even do that.

@Burtonboy @ingy56 @vinoa @Zep2 Didn't know that, like I say I don't follow them that much. Maybe I should, this Leaf team is shortening my life :)

@Burtonboy @ingy56 @vinoa @Zep2 Yeah, it appears they moved out an individual and got back a team player by all reports. It boils down to getting through to the modern multi-millionaire.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 @Mcost61 @Armchair GM It is, I guess as fans we are discouraged by what appears to be either a fact-finding season or a lost season. Too many years of false hope have taken its toll.
@vinoa @ingy56 @Zep2 @Burtonboy I'd have to agree, I rarely follow B-Ball but when I do see a Raptors game I love they way they play. I'd love to see Casey coach the Leafs even if he knew nothing about the sport. He gets through to them.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 @Mcost61 @Armchair GM I still say they fiddled this summer when they had a chance to really enact some change. Comes with having a novice at the wheel I guess.
@Zep2 @Burtonboy It's funny how so many of us are of the same mindset. I refuse to become engaged with this outfit until real change happens.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 Pretty easy to design a game plan against those wingers really. Pinch and engage, they will either lose the battle or won't engage.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 @Mcost61 @Armchair GM Puzzling how the powers-at-be can't realize it.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 Again true, but the times the D is under pressure and have no other option than to go up the wall it's a disaster waiting to happen if certain wingers are expected to be there. It's been said more than a few times here that if you fix the forwards the D looks a lot better.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 @Mcost61 @Armchair GM The combination of players and Carlyle isn't flattering , gets to your chemistry analogy for sure. It's just that I and many others are very frustrated with the same group of players. I'm in favour of changes in both departments.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 True, but defensive zone coverage is pretty standard still. I see Leaf defencemen chipping pucks up the wall in the Leaf end and Lupul, Kessel, JVR are all on the wrong side of the puck cheating for an early exit from the zone. No commitment to engage in a puck battle and therefore a lost possession and increased D zone time. Led to three goals at least last night.
@Mcost61 @Armchair GM The man speaks the truth.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 Problem with chemistry is if the mix isn't right it can blow up in your face. Witness these last two games. It isn't going to be pretty tonight.
@Burtonboy @ingy56 I wish I had the answer, they have changed over a large part of the roster. I think it's entitlement and lack of accountability. After those first two goals against that first line should have had a view from the bench for a while.
1 day, 12 hours ago on Game 33 Scoring Chances: Flyers 7 vs. Maple Leafs 4
@Burtonboy @ingy56 It is, because he had far less to work with. It boils down to work ethic mostly, when they don't have it they are easy prey for teams that are willing to work. Two quotes from last night that just stick right out:
We thought it was going to come easy to us again,” Peter Holland
“They played, for the last 50 minutes, a lot harder than we did,” Dion Phaneuf
Enough of these excuses already, if they haven't learned that lesson by now they aren't going to.
@Burtonboy The same crap just keeps re-surfacing with this group. It just never sinks in.
@Mcost61 @Armchair GM @GeorgeCastanza Why does Carlyle keep sending out that first line?
@Mcost61 Can't like that...sorry...just can't. Good to hear though.

@LyGuy Traded for Jason Smith
Jonas Siegel @jonasTSN1050 20s
Gardiner indeed scratched. Holzer back in.
Doesn't look like Jake Gardiner will play tonight based on warmups.

Projected Leaf defence: Phaneuf-Franson. Robidas-Polak. Rielly-Holzer. Goalie: Bernier.
Projected Leaf lines: van Riemsdyk-Kadri-Santorelli. Lupul-Bozak-Kessel. Winnik-Holland-Clarkson. Booth-Smith-Panik.
@wendelsfist He could also be playing tonight, I'm not convinced yet.
@philthethrill @ingy56 I'd prefer not to.

@philthethrill @ingy56 But no 2 on 1?
@philthethrill @ingy56 Ahhh one of those staff parties.
@philthethrill @ingy56 On the IR?
@philthethrill Did you get a 2 on 1?
@Burtonboy I beg to differ.

@Cloud09 @ingy56 Holzer?
Chris Johnston @reporterchris 5m
It looks like Jake Gardiner will be scratched tonight for the #leafs.
@Dangle_My_Berries @ingy56 That was kind of my answer, I just can't get aboard the basketball train yet. I admit I watch around playoff time but that's about it. I like the way they play though and their coach is awesome.

@FRyan @ingy56 @Mind Bomb I agree, but they have to escape that 80's Oilers mind set first.

@FRyan @ingy56 Oh probably.

@Mcost61 The game of hockey is the loser no matter what the outcome.
@Yaknowwhat @dlb, just dlb He was thinking offense first, you could almost hear his brain thinking " If I intercept this pass I have two Canes trapped and I'm gone the other way." Only problem is it didn't work out.

@dlb, just dlb @Komas Taberle He totally made himself vulnerable to injury. There better not be any discipline for Stoner.
@Komas Taberle @Mcost61 That dive by Soupcan with two minutes left was a disgrace to the game. Thankfully the ref saw through it and sat his ass in the box.
Tough luck Scabs, no magic tonight. 2-1 Ducks final
