@Mind Bomb @Forever17 Ill take one good match up centre for now. We probably won't get an elite 1c through a trade.

@dlb Mad Three players I really like are nick bjugstad, zemgus girgensons and boone jenner. Young guys, and I really like their style of play. Unfortunately I doubt they are for sale.

@Cameron19 @Mind Bomb How does it matter that the fan base is terrible at talent evaluation. It is management who moved on those players.

@Optimustic @Archie Vanlanda @peterbleafs @wendelsfist @TorontoMapleLeafs No doubt we have some talent. I don't think this team is built correctly and by that the talent is not in the right positions. We need better centres period. Im not saying a coaching change isn't needed. I just see the problem as being bigger than that. Why can't we have both a coaching change and some player changes?

@Cameron19 @Burtonboy @DeclanK Truly good centres are so rare. Teams that have a few are in great shape. If things are working you shift around other pieces to get a new look. It is just so difficult to bring centres through trade or FA.

5 days, 1 hour ago on Tuesday Mashup: Preds in town tonight

Reply

@Burtonboy @DeclanK I really like his game. He is hard on the puck without taking a lot of penalties. That is a rare skill in the game today. But in no way do I see him as a #1C on a contending team. Maybe if you surrounded him with great wingers but I am on the side of having strength down the middle over the wings.

@Burtonboy  I am not sure it is possible to build a successful team by trading for your 1C. Are there any recent examples? I think you have to draft that position. Other wise you just pay so much whether in assets or cap space that you will have trouble building around it.

@MaxwellHowe Why does someone have to jump in after a clean hit. Get the guys number and hit him back on the next shift. FIghting should be used for the players to police illegal things not perfectly clean hits. I hate that so much.

@Jmessih If continues to play centre then yes maybe. But if he moves to the wing probably not. Winning teams are built down the middle.

3 weeks, 6 days ago on Monday Mashup: Picking up where they left off

Reply

@Tim44 @Cameron19 @Burtonboy @Archie Vanlanda Cam can lay out all the trades he wants and some of them even make sense based on Cap and NTC but they are still so unlikely to happen. Nonis is not a risky GM and big shake up trade which are rare to begin with are even more difficult when you have a GM like Nonis. Further more trading strength on the wing to strength in down the middle is even more difficult because centres are move valuable. There are  a lot of factors stacked up against the Leafs getting significantly better through trades.

Reply

@Cameron19 @Burtonboy It fair to say that even tough Burkie has is good ideas as a GM he also had some idea that haven't turned out. This is like all GMs. He didn't get to stay to see things through which probably hasn't helped. I don't think Nonis has really done anything great with what he had. I think I am on the full rebuild wagon at this point. Not judging this team based on the games this year. Simply going by what I think this core can do. We need to be built down the centre. It is the only way to win.

@dlb Mad @wendelsfist Or trying to get both Couturier and RoR. That would change this team dramatically.

@MaxwellHowe @DeclanK If my team as bad as the Leafs are in their own zone I would stop play as much as possible as well. At least then you give your team a free pass to get back into proper position. It would be nice if they could play the puck (JB is quite good at it) but they need options to move the puck to.

@Yaknowwhat @Mind Bomb Seems to be how a lot of goalies are playing those really wide angle situations these days. It also makes it so you can't get a strong push of the post if you have to go east west. I don't like it at all.
