@dlb Mad @wendelsfist Or trying to get both Couturier and RoR. That would change this team dramatically.

@MaxwellHowe @DeclanK If my team as bad as the Leafs are in their own zone I would stop play as much as possible as well. At least then you give your team a free pass to get back into proper position. It would be nice if they could play the puck (JB is quite good at it) but they need options to move the puck to.

@Cameron19 It would also help for the "Toews" player to be a centre. Its tough to lead defensive play from the wing.

@Yaknowwhat @Mind Bomb Seems to be how a lot of goalies are playing those really wide angle situations these days. It also makes it so you can't get a strong push of the post if you have to go east west. I don't like it at all.

@Burtonboy @Archie Vanlanda Agreed if he keeps playing like that he has to be in the line up. I really liked his game. For his first NHL game he showed lots of confidence and poise. Reminds me of when Olli Maata made the jump. Same kind of calm style.

@Burtonboy He should certainly be given another game to see how it goes. It won't hurt Frason to get a little more healing in. Its great that Percy played so well but it was only one game.

The problem is one year and one high pick isn't going to do it. (Gross that sounded to much like Fenton)

@Dangle_My_Berries @Archie Vanlanda You don't need a doctor referral to get an appointment with an audiologist. Depending on where you are I could recommend one if I know someone in your area. It won't take more than half an hour and it will give you a baseline to go from as you get older. Everyone's hearing get worse. Age sucks and its tough on all parts of the body including your ears and your brains cognitive ability to interpret sounds. Protect it as long as you can.

3 weeks, 2 days ago on Tuesday Mashup: 3 Days Off

Reply

@Dangle_My_Berries @Archie Vanlanda It can be. Have you ever had your hearing tested? Its usually free at your local audiologist clinic and it will set a guideline for your hearing. From there if you notice something and you get tested again they have a baseline to reference from.

@Dangle_My_Berries @Archie Vanlanda Over time concerts can cause serious damage, just like any noise can. It gets exponentially worse the longer you are exposed. Worst comes to worst get some of the cheap foam ear plugs. If they are put in right they do a pretty good job and can save you issues in the end.

@Dangle_My_Berries I manage a group of audiology clinics in SW Ontario. It is unlikely that you did anything permanent. You just have a temporary threshold shift which will go away. Basically during extended periods of loud noise your ears try to protect themselves. The ringing will most likely go away. However if you continue to go to concerts please use hearing protection. There are lots of custom made devices that are designed for musicains that don't mess with the sound they simply lower the volume.

Every one use hearing protection! Once you damage your hearing you can not get it back.

Carrick played really well last night as well. I hadn't seen much of play. For a guy who plays down in the line up he makes things happen on the ice and that is the type of bottom six player you want on a team. The forecheck last night actually had some successful moments which was a surprise to see given it was the Leafs playing. The team was fast and at times it was giving Philly issues.

The Archie Report

I was at the game last night and had a great view of the ice and the assessment above is spot on. It was pretty easy to tell that the ice was not in good shape. The puck was bouncing and rolling like crazy. On top of that it was the first preseason game and one could tell that players were rusty. The game started off very tentative as the players were clearly just trying to get by without making a big mistake that might cost them a job. Morgan had a decent game by regular standards but I was disappointed with his showing. I have no doubt that he will be fine. Holzer Nilsson Grandberg and Percy all played well. Holzer is a much smarter player then I realized and showed a knack for holding at the blue line and even jumping into the play in the neutral zone to intercept a pass. These defense are all intriguing as they have two way games except for Granberg who is solely defensive. Frattin was excellent; fast hard on the puck strong on the walls I was very happy to seem him play like that. Kadri was in and out of the game effort wise but that is understandable. He carried the offense when he had to. Winnik was noticeable at winning puck battles he will be a strong 4th line guy for us and he can skate pretty well. Kontiola was awful. Hopefully its just an adjustment but that is not what the problem looked like to me. Booth was invisible until the shootout.

Glad they pulled out a win. Lots of positives from the game and it was great to see Heeter play well in the shootout.

@B_Leaf @Archie Vanlanda The only tough time Loov had was playing right side on the PP. Picking the puck up of the boards on his back hand got his caught a few times. That is a very difficult thing to do under pressure though.

@Burtonboy @Archie Vanlanda @B_Leaf Agreed. These games didn't show case him as much for whatever reason but having tried to watch Nilsson as much a I could over the internet I really like his game. His hitting is smart and designed to remove players from the puck while leaving himself in good position to collect it.

@B_Leaf His passing is what really impressed me. Yes it was great to see the physical side of his game but some of his zone exit passing was excellent. If he continues to develop that skill it will mesh perfectly with our forwards speed.
