Shanahan is now on the clock.
You mean since Shanahan came down to stir the boys up?

Yes - he was an arrogant piss ant of a man - a complete douche bag..
@mcloki Well said. Let's just get rid of all the high quality but apparently poor character players and over the next 5 years hope we get better players with better characters. Right.

That's true of the entire management team starting with Shanahan. Nonis may keep his job if gets some results in the short term. It's scary how inexperienced our management team is but all we can do is give them a chance.
2 days, 4 hours ago on Game 62 Scoring Chances: Canadiens 4 vs. Maple Leafs 0
@Xxxxxnew Perfect example is the Leafs. They play way too many exhibition games with way too many players. That's exactly how we ended up trading Colborne and keeping Ashton. That worked out well.
If Crosby and Tavares were in the same draft year then no way do I take Tavares plus 2 1sts. I would take Crosby over Tavares + Niederitter + Ryan Strome any day of the week.
2 days, 7 hours ago on Game 62 Scoring Chances: Canadiens 4 vs. Maple Leafs 0
I have no problem trading them but it makes no sense to give them away.
2 days, 8 hours ago on Game 62 Scoring Chances: Canadiens 4 vs. Maple Leafs 0
Your first mistake was giving Ron Wilson credit.
Kessel did elevate his game in the playoffs. Even JVR was pretty good in that series, so if you mean over the last 5 months with the shit show the Leafs management has thrown at the team, well maybe.
Hey, give us a break. : ) The Hunters have been so good for so long that I think we do see the difference. This year is clearly a development/retool year for the Knights after 3 straight years of Memorial Cups ( one by virtue of being host) and I think most of us fans accept that. We hardly expect to get out of the West with Sault St. Marie and Erie but man we've seen some good hockey with Marner etc but even getting to see McDavid Strome and other really good OHL players. Having said that in good years and bad it's always about developing and it's not out of the question for a weaker London team to upset one of the better teams.
The difference is it doesn't usually take long for the Knights or most CHL teams to retool.

So first game Clarkson plays for Columbus and they get shutout. Coincidence?
2 days, 23 hours ago on GDT: Game #62, Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m., CBC)
Holzer is one solid dude - he stays.
a) What if the "best" deal sucks; and
b) I'm assuming you know that ridding ourselves of decent players only gets you to a 20% chance of getting McD. That's like using your last $100 on lottery tickets instead of making the mortgage payment.

Great, so we can expect consistent treatment by posters on Dion, Gardiner, Kessel etc without all the constant denigrating.

I'm no accountant but for those worried about Horton's tax burden can't he just stay in Florida for 7 months and establish FLA/US residency and actually pay less in taxes. Lying on the beach in the sun will be good for his back - just not enough to cure it.
4 days, 23 hours ago on Leafs trade David Clarkson for Nathan Horton
@Dan39 @Knights2Leafs @traNsplantEdneWfie I'm just saying I thought he was closer to generational; even better than Stamkos. He might end up that way but he's got a ways to go yet to catch Stammer.
5 days, 5 hours ago on Thursday Mashup: Final (major) rental sold, Bozak rumours pick up
@Dan39 @traNsplantEdneWfie I kid, I kid. But I did think MacKinnon was going to be closer to Crosby and I'm a little surprised with his production.
@Dan39 @traNsplantEdneWfie pffft - move Rielly up to centre with Kessel and he'd have more points than Mack.
@hometeem @Knights2Leafs Nope - Dvorak has been his centre all year. Domi played LW on a different line with Mike McCarron (scabs draft pick) on RW. McCarron got traded at the OHL TDL and then they move Domi onto Marner's line to create a one crazy beast of a line. Dvorak is pretty good in his own right.
@DeclanK @Knights2Leafs @JWaterdrager @Jmessih I do. I'm getting to about 2 out of 3 games.
@JWaterdrager @DeclanK @Jmessih
Marner has always played right wing but as I've pointed out before he is very fast and is all over the ice after the puck drops. There is no question he could play centre. Great hands, good shot and very quick. I think Strome has real good hands ( only seen him live a couple of times) and he has size on his side. His skating is not nearly as good as Marner's but remember that Corey Perry wasn't the strongest skater in his draft year - that developed later. Hunter is about as good as anyone judging whether or not Strome can be a good skater at the NHL level.
Not sure if this was posted earlier today.
1 week ago on Friedman, Lebrun, Kypreos on Joffrey Lupul rumours
@udlbu @North Kariya
Both Loov and Granberg have decent size and play relatively tough. Loov is better offensively and is actually good at skating the puck out of his zone - not Rielly good obviously but he's not that far behind Gardiner. Loov has the most upside of our prospect dmen playing with the Marlies. I really hope Valiev surpasses him.

@Anthony Petrielli @Jay31
Funnily enough they have Rupert centering him and Rupert wasn't a center in junior or at least did not play much centre.
I'm confused. Are you saying we have to sacrifice Kessel for an elite centre? I'm not sure why we would have to. Trading Kessel doesn't get us a 1C.
@Anthony Petrielli @Dan39 @deedrag Thank you for saying that. The consensus on here seems to be there will be a full tear down. I just don't think that's going to happen. Tear it down and maybe we'll get players as good as what we have now - or maybe not.
@Anthony Petrielli @deedrag
While he has exceeded expectations, he's may be pushing himself from a 3rd line guy to a 2nd line guy.
@deedrag Yes, but think of Kessel as 1RW and Brown as 2RW.
Yes to point 2. X 10. I'd be okay if Phaneuf got traded for some good pieces but I really doubt that and I've been advocating for a few weeks that Rielly and Phaneuf would give us our first true top pairing in a decade.
Nylander, Kadri, Strome, Gauthier and then if Strome proves he's a 1C he and Kadri switch or Kadri goes to the wing and Gauthier moves up to 3C. I want enough Cs so that none have to play above their skill level.
Nylander is showing he's good enough to be a 1C. If we also draft a 1C, then we'd have two and I'd rather keep Nylander away from the wing unless he struggles at centre.
Marner and Domi were on separate lines until after the OHL TDL. (Jan 10 I think). They were on separate lines when Marner put up ridiculous numbers in November.
1 week, 1 day ago on Sunday Mashup: Winnik with the Gordie
If we took Marner I wouldn't count out nylander as our 1C. The difference between Nylander/Marner and Kadri is that Ny/Mar have elite speed.
With Franson gone and Phaneuf out you can see that we don't have great size or physicality on our D. We need to keep Dion, move him back to the right side with Morgan and finally have a true top pairing.
1 week, 2 days ago on Sunday Mashup: Winnik with the Gordie
And another 18 mins a game as our 1C.
Leafs are misusing him. He should only be playing 18 mins per game on defence.
lol - if someone is going to get in the other teams face I'd rather it be Buff than Clarkson.
1 week, 2 days ago on GDT: Game #60, Winnipeg Jets at Toronto Maple Leafs (7 p.m., CBC)
For sure and if the refs are trying to stop scrums you know and they know that it's not the Leafs starting them. Buff had free rein to run around and stick his nose in when a Leaf and a Jet were engaged. Really starting to dislike him - he'll get clocked one day.
They are one big team but I think they were surprised that the Leafs gave some push back for a change. What scares me is that now with Franson gone, and if Dion goes, our only big dmen are Polak and Holzer. We're slowly patterning ourselves on the EDM model of dmen except they don't have Rielly.
Weird schedule. 28 games in 60 days in Dec and Jan with most on the road and including a 5 day Christmas break and 7 day Allstar break. 11 game in 28 days in Feb and 15 games in 31 days in Mar.
The Dec - Jan schedule crushed us, so for all the tankers, have no fear - we'll be lucky to win 2 of 15 in March. Patience.
Winnik was trying to get Chiarot's sweater before the Jets leave town.
Yes, I died 3 years ago.
we have visions of McSugarplums dancing in our heads....
Okay, maybe I was wrong about giving up leads, but we're really good at coming from behind.
Robidas never even touched the puck. But that's not interference.
Hardly ever then...
Well - that's the game. We never give up the lead.
Kadri is 3 months older than Holland. Kadri has scored at a .62 ppg pace over his NHL career playing with some pretty weak wingers with the exception of Lupul. Holland has scored at a .31 ppg pace over his NHL career, but has also had limited opportunities. On top of that, I'd say Kadri has been the better defensive player this year often playing against the other teams better lines. Holland is big but he's not huge or dominating physically. He might weigh 10 more lbs than Kadri.
This team has been so bad I would not rely on anything I've seen over the last 2 months but I'm not seeing what you're seeing anyways.
On the basis of the Steen example alone, Kadri should not be traded unless we have someone clearly better to replace him and he gets us something else that we need. Stop trading away our draft picks unless they're named Schenn.
