Let me know when Randy's fired
Agreed but teams like LA wear other teams down with their size and physical play. It's time for us to start punishing other teams and wearing them down. Both Polak and Komarov throw hits that are often punishing. And the other teams start to hesitate when they're having to anticipate getting smacked.

Polak 2nd in the league in hits and Leo 4th. Dion and Franson in the top 35.
I like this way better than leading the league in fights.

Agreed - standings only mean something if you get way too far behind. See Oilers.

@dlb Mad @Knights2Leafs
I've played hockey for 53 years and at fairly decent levels but there is nothing I've done that I would even begin to compare myself to how NHL players play.
@Alec Brownscombe @dlb Mad
100% agree. With so many young dmen, it makes no sense to keep shifting their partners around. I can see going with 7D if one of your better guys isn't 100% and you might have to reduce his ice time or stop playing him.
@Cameron19 @Zep2 @Jay_Berg
That line had some good chances and just couldn't score. Kadri started a play that Winnik just couldn't finish with a fairly open net. At least they've looked good out there which is a sign the goals will come.

I hope HIckey isn't hurt too badly. I don't know if anyone noticed, but he didn't have his stick and he dove at Winnik as if it were a football tackle. Unfortunate injury, but it should have been a penalty.
I can and unfortunately do go both ways on this from time to time. I'm still convinced that this team is better than Carlyle lets them be, but that aside, one way of looking at this year is with average or below average goaltending early we have managed to stay in decent position. Last year we got off to a ridiculously hot start will stellar goaltending. Reimer has been pretty good so far and Bernier seems to be finding his groove and with all the perceived problems we have avoided an Oiler type start to the season.
Slower start but more potential to move up and NOT COLLAPSE!!
Bernier makes the"easy" save? wtf

lol - you got me.

Apparently it was our goon Bozak who finally had the guts to take him out.
I saw Dion bobble the puck once :)
I really hope Clutterfuck is okay.
Polak throws the most thundering hits the Leafs have had in awhile.
There's no just bumping the guy.
New rule. Opposition drops their stick, blow the whistle
correct - it was Lupul's penalty even with Dion in the box.
do you mean this game or the last 3 years?
Good thing we have 7 D so when Randy benches our forwards we'll have some extra players.

Of course they won't show that replay.
Went back and looked at the Isles first goal in slo mo- definitely offside. Linesmen will fuck us all year long on that after the Montreal game.
Mark Hunter is not your typical suit type guy. He's a meat and potatoes kind of guy and he's all over Ontario all the time watching for potential OHL players. He has a remarkable draft history.

so it shouldn't be a problem getting 3 more for 4th line then?
5 days ago on Sunday Mashup: Not All Bad
Fall of 2011. He was on fire for the Marlies, got called up to the Leafs and had 5 points in 10 games before injuring his wrist. Couldn't shoot after that for the rest of the year.
5 days, 1 hour ago on Sunday Mashup: Not All Bad
He showed plenty when he wasn't playing with a hand injury.
lol - and Carlyle wanted Ashton instead.
Ashton has played particularly poorly so far. Zero points.
5 days, 2 hours ago on Sunday Mashup: Not All Bad
Yes. They meet every 2 minutes during the game to discuss player usage.

I'm sure you are done now that your opinion on him has proven wrong.
Carrick was outstanding in preseason and I would love to see him up. I have zero confidence, however, that Randy will play him any more that he has Ashton, Frattin, Panik etc.
Wouldn't want to blame the coach for dumping Colborne. He wasn't capable of playing on our 4th line last year.
Miraculously he's able to play on Calgary's first line this year.
How do we know that Frattin, Ashton, Panik etc can't play to a higher level when Carlyle won't even give them a chance.
I'm not sure how brilliant it makes him look to have kept Carlyle on. His first big decision ain't so pretty and I'm pretty sure those outside of Toronto know it.

I'm out. The only thing better than talking hockey is playing hockey. Off to Sunday morning hockey where Randy can't fuck with my ice time.

@T K O
k - go check TOI for Detroit. With the exception of Weiss (about 8 minutes) every player played 11 minutes plus. And you should have said our 4th line is not a 4th line when they're not playing because if they're not playing it's guaranteed they're doing nothing.
No - let's applaud his use of Dion of over 25 minutes and the big minutes of the first line. I'm sure they weren't in any way shape or form tired playing the 2nd game of a B2B on the road.
Nitpicking his mistakes? They are the exact same fundamental mistakes he made last year that caused this team to go 2- 12 down the stretch.
And you are right. The Red Wings with less talent are a well coached team. You have described the problem with Randy perfectly.
I know you're not suggesting tanking but as I posted below this team is not bad enough to tank. That's what's really frustrating - we will pinball around from 18th to 24th without changes.
If we are a McDavid competitor, do we keep Randy till the end of the season to give him a chance to accomplish the goal?
The only geniuses that count are Nonis and Shanahan and it worries me that they can't/dont' see that.
Q. Can you prove that you can't win with 3 lines.
A. Leafs 2013/14
This post says it all. What has changed?
5 days, 15 hours ago on Game Review: Game #6, Red Wings 1 vs. Maple Leafs 0 (OT)
Sounds like Frattin accomplished a lot in his less than 3 minutes of play.
guess you're right - the guy that took his job has looked real good. Oh that's right, Randy hasn't played him yet.
@peterbleafs @Knights2Leafs @Yaknowwhat
Set up JVR on a beautiful breakaway from the Game in 6
"everyone agrees" - not true.
Most everyone agrees Carlyle sucks.
90% of the fans on this site are stupid (me me me) and agree with you. What stuns me is the 10% of the geniuses who actually don't see Randy as a problem. I guess Shanny is one of those geniuses.
I said almost exactly a month ago that I was going to try to be more emotionally detached this year. 2 Saturdays in a row where I made other plans. I feel way less stressed.
Having said that I come on my favourite website to find that Randy is back to playing the 4th line next to zero icetime and Dion playing over 25 minutes. And we lose. I can only imagine how pissed I would have been watching the game.
The team in not bad enough to tank so the best I can hope for is the countdown is on till Peter Horachek takes over. If this doesn't happen by November 15th the season will be over and I can make more valuable use of my time.
@Alec Brownscombe @DeclanK
promises, promises...that's what you told me in April
