Kadri is a center damn it. a 1C!!!!
I'm agreeing with you. PPG doesn't mean much without taking into account PP minutes, TOI and even quality of linemates. Admittedly the last one is harder to quantify.

How one can evaluate the roster as a whole or individually while under the reins of Toaster Man is beyond me.
More importantly, it might be beyond Nonis and Shanahan. We'll see, but until drastic changes actually occur I'll assume the first order of business is getting rid of Carlyle. If it were me, the second order of business would be getting a replacement coach (if available in a timely fashion) and then looking at roster changes with input from that new coach.
Trading Kessel and/or Phaneuf for draft picks is simply idiotic and isn't happening.

Since Franson looks as good as gone we need more than another RHS on D.
1 day, 21 hours ago on NHL Playoffs Round 1 – Open Thread
Franson? : )
I've been crazy busy at work. I read below the comment about RC revealing what a young dman told him privately. What was that all about?
@mike_84 @Knights2Leafs @Burtonboy
With NHL guys we get to evaluate them even by seeing a lot of them on TV. With these juniors I've seen so few of them live much less on TV that this is really where the guys making the decision have to rely on their scouts.

Sorry for the late response on Perlini. I was out doing some errands. I only saw Perlini once when Niagara was in town and I was concentrating on Verhaege. Verhaege impressed me and I think of him possibly being a Bozak +. As good as Verhaege was, Perlini was at the next level. He not only looked big he was very fast and skilled. He reminded me of Bobby Ryan who dominated other junior players with his size and skill. Perlini is bigger. Again, I've only seen him once and I haven't seen Ritchie live so I defer to those that have seen those two more.
5 days, 6 hours ago on And that’s a wrap
Great that we got the 8th draft spot wrapped up. If the draft is really weaker than normal and there are no real must have players, then for once I'd like to see them not look to the BPA but draft a forward with size. Not a center that't 6'1' - he has to be at least 6'3" to make a difference. I don't see any of those and failing that we need someone like a Perlini or Ritchie. We need another guy JVR's size in the top 6.
Having said that this team as composed was built for 2014 through 2018 and whatever player we draft will not be playing until 2016/17 at the earliest so is unlikely to have an effect on the team that was supposed to be. So let's make sure going forward that the guy we draft will be suited for the team being built for 2018 - 2022.
I still have not given up on this team. The Toaster Man sucked all the life out them with his ridiculous systems that even a 7 year old would realize couldn't work. The players were forced to work in a dangerous work environment. To me there is still enough of a core of 12 - 14 players that with the graduation of some of the Marlies and some trades and signings this team can compete with a decent coach.

Glad he's going back to the Marlies soon before he learns the RC way of playing D.

Holland should get some good chances with Orr on his wing.
How about if you add Clarkson's and Gleason's?

Alec doesn't have a lot points to spare.
But genius level compared to Healy.

@Yaknowwhat yes but not by these fucktards.
5 days, 22 hours ago on Peter DeBoer makes some sense as the Maple Leafs’ next head coach
And if there's time left over go back to last year.
I think they're going to spend the whole night going over every stupid play by the Leafs this year.
@rustynail @Knights2Leafs @NotTheCanucksnaphook
lol - I said I haven't suffered enough yet this year. I need pure HNIC pain to be me out of my misery.
@NotTheCanucksnaphook @Knights2Leafs You should get to choose an islolated camera for a given player.
I'm going to let the screen go blank and just listen to HNIC. I haven't been punished enough this season.
DC's hair looking extra nice tonight.
Fwiw I was ranting about Nonis in the second week of September last year but even I don't think it's time for him to go. Aside from some bad cap management and the Clarkson fiasco, getting Bernier was good and getting a healthy Bolland would likely have worked out. At least he's had extensive experience operating a hockey club and my real question is what qualifications or experience does Shanahan have that's he suddenly going to come in here and force Nonis to make changes? Or is he simply a figurehead?
6 days, 7 hours ago on The Leafs sit in the 9th overall draft slot going into final game
and who can forget that useless sack of shit Colborne who would be 7th in scoring for Leafs forwards.

Sorry, I was wearing my RC glasses.
Broll, Devane, Biggs, Ashton
Too bad we don't have any players around 6'2" or 6'3" and around 215 lbs who can skate in the system.
Yeah, the odds of him coming are remote even if the Bruins don't have cap room. I just meant a player of that ilk. Clarkson isn't as bad as we've seen, but I've been shocked at how often he gets knocked down. And that's when he's not falling on his own.
1 week ago on Game Review: Game #81, Panthers 4 vs. Leafs 2
We need a bottom 6 and we need toughness. We have most if not all of those pieces in the system to give us a quality bottom 6 on the assumption RC is gone.
The only question is do we allow Clarkson a chance to prove himself at 2 RW or do we go out and get an Iginla to give us a true top 6. The one problem with the Leafs collapsing is finding players that will want to come here.
Sorry, just read your comment after I posted mine.
@Burtonboy From the article:
As one Leafs executive said: “Where are you going to find a better coach? Who’s out there? Name him.”
My question is where are you going to find a worse coach..
IMHO Shanahan was clearly incompetent and/or biased as the league's disciplinarian. Now he's suddenly going to lead the Maple Leafs to glory. If it takes him and Nonis more than 5 seconds to fire Carlyle that will be an indication of what we can expect going forward.
The Carlyle effect. He's taken an offensive juggernaut with poor defense and turned them into an anemically challenged offence with even worse defense. Good work Randy.
1 week ago on @SharkClubDundas Game Day: Game #81, Maple Leafs at Panthers
That's more like it - back to Carlyle hockey.
You mean the brilliant Shanahan that saw nothing wrong with the Rick Nash elbow to the back of the head of a defenseless player.
Finn is really looking good but Guelph is so deep on their back end. Most of their dmen are really mobile and rack up points so it's harder for him to stand out. Guelph's D plays like Chicago. He looks really smart out there with the puck like Percy but seems much quicker.
Rusty and I officially banned him for his absurd calls on the suspensions against the Leafs.
Brendan Shanahan eh?Fucking great. We hire a punch drunk incoherent village idiot as President. I had my doubts about Leiweke but I can really see the Leafs moving in the right direction - right to the top of the heap for McDavid.
Randy Carlyle: Has been part of all 3 collapses although the first was likely a done deal. This year we are 26th GA and 28th PK. So much for defensive systems. We can see for ourselves how disorganized the team has looked under him with the swarm/collapse and his theory of having the forwards stretch out the opposition dmen. This part is easy.
I simply don't buy the our players are stupid, heartless, gutless players. In each of the 3 years that we've collapsed the core has demonstrated for a significant number of games that they can play around the 5 - 8th position in the conference. Perhaps higher. I'm with @Savo43 that now is not the time to blow this roster up. IMHO this has all about the failure of Carlyle to develop a good bottom 6 and we have the pieces to bring in enough skill, size, toughness and grittiness from the young guys. Bring Komarov back and roll 4 decent lines with a coach that has systems that work in the current NHL and see how we do. If that doesn't work, then next year consider making bigger changes.
I didn't see last night's game, but all I have to do is look at the TOI to see that 3 of the Leafs players didn't play 10 minutes and only 1 of Tampa's didn't and their guy was a defenseman. Tells me that RC's systems and implementation of players has been so bad it's impossible to judge the players without giving them a decent chance with a decent coach.

@B_Leaf yes, and stupid too. Give me a break.
1 week, 3 days ago on Poll: Who do you want as the Head Coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs?
And don't forget that he and Lupul haven't a real RW all season long. People bitch about buying out Grabbo. What was his best point production season? 58 points in 81 games.
I love hearing how stupid our players are. Just our bad luck we picked skilled players who happen to be dumb? The only difference between them and me is they take longer to count their money. Way longer.
Ranger and Gleason might work with a Marlie coming into the mix.
1 week, 4 days ago on Leafs Prospect Update – April 6
Iginla is probably the type of guy who could handle TO. Whether he wants to or not is another question. But I would think there could be some real decent opportunities making money on the side.
You just have to wonder why Anaheim got rid of Penner when he was putting up really decent numbers.
Not a chance.
Lol - that's what I keep thinking. It allows us to get Gunnar off the top pairing and Rielly is good enough to play his wrong side.
