@AnnoyingJoe @Gorangers0525 McDonagh outplayed him in every aspect of that series. Subban is still a great player though. I think he had put his team on his back against Boston and had nothing left.

@KevinTheNYRBlog @jasonshyer I agree. You end up coming into the league with no respect and a lot of expectations.

@fs2020 I read somewhere that Point Roberts is a popular place for Witness Relocation. You need to pass through the Canadian Border to get there, so there's an innate security wall. I guess it's kind of a strange metaphor for Torts.

@KevinTheNYRBlog @Say my Name I agree with you, Kevin. Although I do think he had a bit of a setback last year after his near point-per-game pace of the lockout shortened season.
Has anyone mentioned Peter Mueller as a possible FA signing? He seems exactly like Pouliot. Big, fast, skilled high-draft pick who turned into a disappointment but still showed flashes of point scoring. He's had a lot of injuries which hampered his career. I don't know if he's prone or just unlucky. Would probably be cheap since he wants back into the NHL and no one has signed him yet.
@KevinTheNYRBlog With teams like Toronto and Florida and the Islanders apparently living in a different league with their contracts, it's getting harder and harder to figure out what a player's worth is. I mean Brassard could've asked for more than David Bolland who got 5.5 million! for 5 years! in a tax friendly state.
@KevinTheNYRBlog @Wallace1 Cool, thanks.
Are the numbers submitted to the arbiter different from what the player actually wants? Apparently Brassard asked for 4.95 and the Rangers put forth 3.8. I don't know how this stuff works though. According to Elliotte Friedman.
@Bring back Langdon The only problem with that is they tried MSL with Nash and it didn't really work out. Plus don't Zucc and Kreider play the same position?
@SmellyKisio Yeah, it would be nice, though, to have say another 1.45 million to spend...
Zucc signed for 3.5 a season. He wasn't kidding when he said he'd take less to help the team.

Glass Moore Stempniak… The Ivy League Line.
@IhateGaborik @Wallace1 @Josh-CK @betweentheworlds You guys could be right. Just recently the big guys the Rangers brought in-- Richards and Nash--haven't lived up to their contracts. It makes me jumpy getting guys like that.

@Josh-CK @Wallace1 @betweentheworlds He hasn't seen the playoffs since 2009. Back then he was on top of his game.
@Josh-CK @Wallace1 @betweentheworlds He loves to push RFAs till they feel desperate and he can pinch every penny. It's not that odd considering Sather's philosophy. That top three line you've got of Kreids, Staal and Nash looks awesome though. As long as Nash and Staal don't disappear as they are prone to do.
@Josh-CK @betweentheworlds Where are you getting this info though? Is it an actually credible source or an anonymous twitter account? It doesn't sound that believable to me.
@Bring back Langdon Where are you hearing this? Slats would have to give up way more than Staal to get Sharp and Leddy.
I think Heatley is intriguing. On a line with Brass and Zucc he could be deadly again. But it is taking a chance. If you could get him on a one or two year contract I would do it.
@johnAMIRANTESrug But we lost Stu Bickel, so I'm not that optimistic.
@King For Cup Then he better resign for free, since we're paying him so much freaking money already.
@DP_Snotty I'm surprised he didn't break his hand.
@IhateGaborik @JustinRP37 Nash isn't going though. So hopefully he can get it together. He definitely had the worst year of his career. A lot of guys like him bounce back in the next go around. The scariest thing about him is his playoff record. I really can't think of another player who's production has dropped off so dramatically and consistently in the postseason.

Stu Bickel went to Minnesota. Sather's gonna have to work some magic to find a replacement.
@SanjayPatel1 @Wallace1 Yeah, I don't know why I made that comparison. Zucc's the best.
Jesus Tampa. It's not our fault MSL wanted to come to New York. You don't have to take all our players.

I remember Cedric Desjardins kicking our ass when he was with Tampa. Good goaltender depth move if there are injuries.
I love Zucc and everything but he has only had one good year. Ville Leino played pretty great for a time and look what happened to him.
@DP_Snotty @blueshirtscorner Did they ever say what he actually did? Or just behavioral problems?
I'd rather have Moore on Glass' contract and Glass on another team.
I don't think anyone can help the Rangers power play. We got Gaborik, one of the best snipers in the league and the power play sucked. We got Richards, one of the best PP quarterbacks in the league and the power play sucked. We got a coach with an offensive mindset and the power play sucked. We got MSL, one of the great passers in the game, and the power play sucked. It just sucks.
That David Bolland contract is out there.
So is Dan Boyle gonna wear number 22?
@jasonshyer Could be worse, but I still think it's a mistake.
@KarenMaz If he struggles nobody will trade for him anyway.
Statsny to the Blues
MacTavish, this is not NHL '14. You can't reset the game when you wake up tomorrow with a hangover.
Wow…Oilers, you guys are crazier than Slats.
What the hell. Why didn't we make a strong push for Ehrhoff instead of Boyle?
@dcmullets1 There's no way they can afford what he wants.
The idea is to not overpay for role players and then draw from your system like the Kings and Blackhawks. The problem is Sather has consistently traded all his picks away and the Rangers have one of the weakest systems in the entire league with only a few gems that Gordie managed to pull out despite having nothing to work with. Right now JT Miller is the only guy that seems NHL ready. And not a single coach has ever liked or trusted JT Miller. So good job Sather.
Please not Boyle. I don't think he has any interest in winning another Stanley Cup. He just wants to make some more money.
@G His two best years were with AV, which is a good sign.

Does anyone else feel that Moore's contract is not that outrageous? He was getting promoted to the top lines whenever there was an injury. He seems to be able to adapt to any line mates style. And it's not like you're gonna put Lindberg, Fast, or Bourque all on the same line if they even make it to the NHL. They need to play with someone like Moore. I just don't understand why the management isn't even talking to Moore.
@Say my Name Well you're used to seeing Hank who looks like he's in his early forties. And Stepan who looks like he's in his late 60s.

@Say my Name Can we play him as a center?
2 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/59th-overall-rangers-select-brandon-halverson-goaltender.html
@brian2686 @Wallace1 Depth is a huge problem for the Rangers. Gordie's got nothing to work with. And I also think he was slightly hampered with drafting for Tortorella's style. At least that's the only reason I can see taking McIlrath over Fowler.
Hopefully Stralman stays, but if he does it's not going to be a very pleasant contract to look at. Fortunately Klein can play in the top four if Stralman goes. He really impressed me in the playoffs.

So Boyle looks like he's going somewhere else. And the Rangers apparently haven't even talked to D. Moore. What's the game plan here?
@Brukie_ That would be awesome. But unlikely.
I know everyone's afraid of the long term contracts and I am too. But does anyone else think the one or two year contracts have some downsides as well? You wait to see if a player will prove himself and then you can't afford him if he does. Pouliot, Zucc, Stralman, Moore all got sort of trial contracts. And they're all guys you, or at least I, would want back.
@DominickAndreula Gabby already made a ton of money. And I think he's sick of getting bounced around from team to team. Also he just won the cup with them. But I get your point, cause there's no way Cally should get paid more than Gaborik.
