I like that we've becomes so accustomed to Lundqvist that a performance like tonight is only a slight remark on another point. I guess being franchise leader has its downsides.

I agree Brassard hasn't looked amazing but that feed to Pouliot for the breakaway should have been an easy A. Encouraging to see him make plays like that when he isn't at his best.

I would like to see Kreider called up and put on a line with Brassard and Zuccs. Lot's of playmaking, speed and now (hopefully) a solid finisher.

Funny thing about the Europe starts are look at the teams who played in them:

2011-2012: LA Kings

2010-2011: Boston Bruins

2009-2010: Chicago Blackhawks

2008-2009: Pittsburgh Penguins

Guess who won the Stanley cup each year?? It may sound like a disadvantage to start in Europe but maybe it is worth the team chemistry it builds.

So many milestones in one game! 400 wins for Torts, 300 goals for Nash and 250 goal/550 assists for 800 points for Richards! Great game tonight!

I keep thinking the Pen's are weaker this year based on their offseason. Then I have to remind myself that they will have a healthy Crosby from day 1. That is bigger than any move a team could make this year.

Wow... Seguin for Nash 1 for 1 is maybe a good deal... Segiun had 8 more points and was a +34 to Nash's -19 (I understand vastly different team skill levels)... what's next? They offer Tyutin for Toews, Kane and Hossa???

Last year 11 shut-outs..... How can you rank goalies if you don't even know the stats.

The biggest difference tonight for me was knowing what the number one line was. I can't remember a time last year where I felt that one line had enough offensive ability and talent to be considered a number "one" line.

I love the fact that Dan Blackburn is still working with the rangers with his goalie camp. I remember thinking he was the future of Ranger goal tending and I was crushed when he received the injury. Says a lot about Danny's character that he is still out there with the kids even though his pro career is over.

I absolutely love the Ranger's division because I feel there is a great rivalry between all of the teams. Despite their respective position in the division, on any given night it seems one Atlantic division team can beat another. That being said, I hate the Flyer's the most because I still see them as goons. Adding Jagr and getting rid of Richards will probably make them seem really soft this year though. I could see the Islander rivalry really picking up as they begin to look more and more promising.

Quote from http://www.hockeysfuture.com (who have the flames ranked as the worst team in the league for prospects, rangers #7)... " There aren't a lot of bright lights shining on the Flames prospect list, but Tim Erixon is one player to get excited about. He just finished a tremendous SEL season (and a wonderful WJC showing) and should be knocking on the NHL's door as early as next season. Beyond that it is a list that is big on heart, grit and leadership, with a number of blue-collar, character players."

Guess the flames figured they need to get draft picks.

Honestly, I hope that Detriot gets moved into the Northeast. Although I wouldn't want to have to play the Red Wings anymore often than necessary (well they might be on the down...finally), I would love to see the original six rivalries of Detroit-Toronto reignited. I think that maybe they should leave the bruins in the NE, move Buffalo to the Atlantic and maybe (although I'll miss the rivalry) move Pittsburgh to the Southeast. Could you imagine having 4 original six teams in one division?!

No question Giradi is in the Top 10, if not Top 5, undrafted players in the league. Oh and that is probably the best picture of him. I wish I could do that to Hartnell too.

What happened to the Wolski-Stepan-MZA line. A few months ago they were the only line on the team which looked productive on some nights.

I even recall one of them saying (I think it might have been Step) that they had instant chemistry.

Also the Feds-Boyle-Prust line was solid too.

If it comes down to not getting richards or losing one (or more) of Cally,Dubi,Boyle,AA or Sauer, I don't think fans should mind if Sather opts to keep what we have. With the up and coming talent, keeping our players who are currently in their mid-20s should be key so that when the "next generation" is ~25 the leaders on the team (even though they already are the leaders imo) will be guys like Dubi, Cally and AA.

On a side note, Avery is turning 31 this year. This team has time and time again stated it's commitment to youth and playing someone like Wolski (25 years old) falls in line with that mentality. Although I agree Avery has his moments and that he has earned more playing time this year than he has been given, that doesn't change the fact that he has only found the back of the net three times (two times more than the boogey man...). In my opinion, the current lineup (except for missing Staal) is optimizing the Ranger's talent and grit. The results these past two games have shown as such. Why fix what isn't broken?
