Why was Laperriere making chicken gestures at Boyle after second period? Other than being a bitch.

@jmax933 @HobbitLover78 Pierre was a Pens assistant and one two cups with them back in the 90s!  Not sure what Emrick's excuse is.

I just re-listened to the overtime call from MSNBC.  Pierre and Emrick did seem so sad.  Pierre:  "And the Pittsburgh Penguins looking for an opportunity [sniff, sniff] that they will never get."  What does that even mean?  I do give the Pens credit though.  Even with all their injuries, they have been giving Rangers a hard series (although in a different way than expected) and I am sure will come out even harder in game 5.

Zucc, Nash and Brassard were dominant out there tonight.  Too bad they did not get a goal.  I cannot believe I am writing this, but thought Glass played a great game.  It really makes such a difference when your fourth line can eat up some time in the other team's zone, cycle and even create some chances.  Wish we could get that every game.  Girardi solid as usual.  Pierre, annoying as usual although he did give rangers D some credit in the third.  Pens, such little bitches.

@4tonynoluck totally agree.  i think Fast is a great 4th line player and works well with Moore.  Imagine if the person on the other wing had even the slightest bit of skill - like Dorsett or even Carcillo.

@SteveFalcon I know.  In the first period when they were shitting the bed he was somewhat measured, but for the last two periods it was all about how great the Pens were!  At least he focused his praise on people other than Crosby, like Lovejoy, Scuderi, and Johnston.  BTW, is that actually Johnston's hair or does he have the world's worst tupee?  My wife and I had a spirited debate about that.

@Mike Burns1 I did read the post.  I just don't think sitting Fast makes sense.  He is strong defensively and has some skill and I did not think he was any more invisible last game than Glass, who brings no skill and despite his reputation for "toughness" does not seem to really bring that either in that nobody is scared of him.  Now, I know that won't happen because AV loves Glass (or Glass has a picture of AV with a goat), but that is what I think should happen.

Nothing about JT Miller?  Thought he was the best guy on the ice last night.  Throwing hits, making plays and generally seemed like he was all over the ice.  Also thought that Yandle had solid defensive game, especially after Girardi left.  Maybe Sheppard gets in for Glass in game two, but we all know that is doubtful.

Never like losing a game, but I would much prefer playing Ottawa in the first round than any other team that is a possibility right now.  Even without Nash, Zucc and Staal, and with nothing to play for, Rangers played Sens even, if not better.

The fact that AV commented so strongly on that cross check speaks volumes.  He never complains or gets fired up, even when it seems like he should!   What did Sam say about the play on MSG?  I was forced to watch Jets broadcast, and they did not say anything about it or re-show it.

I almost threw my remote through the screen listening to Doc and Pierre perform verbal fallatio on the Kings all night - "they have the heart of a lion" "Sutter is tough, but also a great person" "I heard Drew Doughty has a huge schlong" - okay, maybe not that last one but might as well have said as much.  Don't get met wrong, they outplayed the Rangers but for a second I thought i was watching  Penguins game on MSNBC.

@wherewasi Agree re Glass.  His best game of the season I think.  Even though he did not score he actually controlled the puck a few times and made some passes to teammates as opposed to just skating around the boards and falling down.

It was a boring game to watch, but thought the team played well.  Nice to see they can win some defensive struggles after the past 10 games or so when they were winning despite poor defense.  Hard to see how anyone can defend Glass.  He adds zero value.  Think back to Dorsett and even Carcillo last year, yes they were there for toughness but they also showed skill, particularly Dorsett.  I cannot think of a single good play Glass has made all year.

Also thought Hunwick had another strong game.  In addition to ringing one off the post, also has been playing pretty solid D.  Hard to see John Moore getting back into lineup with the way Hunwick is playing.  Klein has been fantastic.  Even better that we got him for Del Zaster.

Agree there was nothing malicious about Prust's bump on Hank, but still good to see Klein go after him.  This team could be dangerous if they could play the way they played last night with any consistency.  So much offensive depth + hank + a strong defense once McD gets back.  Even though he did not score, really like what Boyle brings to the power play.  Nice to have a point man that can regularly hit the net with shots.

that performance was the definition of lackluster.  no jump.  agree no need to hit panic button, but reminded me of watching Torts hockey (but without the fighting).  these last games show just how much Rangers need McD.

First game I was able to see.  Man they were flying.  Duclair and Haggerty definitely looked comfortable.  Also liked the smile on Glass's face when he was fighting that goon Stortini. Showed some guts. (side note, would be great to get screen grab of him in box drooling into the gap where his teeth should be).

Good for Cally.  Glad the Rangers did not sign him for that much, but no reason he should not get paid.  Between making the finals with MSL, him having only one year left on his contract (I think), and getting back the 2nd round draft pick, seems like it turned out to be a pretty good trade for Rangers.

Agree with poster who said put Nash on the PP and also take Richards off it.  I would, however, keep Richards on 4th line over Carcillo.  He does have a good shot if an opportunity comes his way.  Happy with the win last night although I spent the entire 3d period with my blood pressure likely through the roof.  They (other than Hank) definitely need to play better than that next game if they want to stay alive.

Not looking good, but if you look back at that Kings/Sharks series the first three games where the Sharks dominated you never would have thought the Kings would have come back, so there is always the chance.

Bottom line is that winning the cup requires combination of puck luck, the ability to capitalize on chances, passion, and clutch saves.  The Kings have had all 4 and the Rangers have not had any (other than maybe Hank's performance in period 3 of game 1 (clutch saves) and Zucc last night (passion)).

Very frustrating, but I don't think you can really rip the Rangers for anything other than the perceived lack of passion.

My anxiety level picks up whenever Richards is on the ice.  Obviously huge leader on the team, and did not feel this way in last 3 series even though he was not adding much, but last two games he looks awful.

So who would everyone rather play, Hawks or Kings?  Tough call since both are so strong.  I guess I lean a little towards Kings since Hawks have stronger, more established D and Toews and Kane are beasts.  But Crawford has not been that great lately, and Quick is probably the only goalie in the NHL that is as good as Hank.

If the Rangers play  defense and shoot the puck when they get the chance as opposed to trying to make perfect passes every time down the ice they will win the game.

Also note that when he ran into Fleury, even Pierre or Doc were incredulous about no goal call saying "what could he have done."  The fact that these words were uttered when the Pens were on the other side and when it was "Kristofer Latang" that pulled him down speaks volumes about that play!
