Sadly, do we all now agree that the Pirates will not finish above .500 this year?

The Pirates could easily lose three in San Francisco and then lose the next three at Milwaukee and then lose the three at home to Saint Louis and then lose ONLY 2 out of 3 to Cincinnati. That is 1 out of every 12.

I do not think 5-44 is out of the range of possibility.

You need to post a poll to ask what people think the Pirates final 2011 record will be. They went 54-54 in the first 108 games. So far they have lost the first 2 of the last 54. Might win a couple against San Diego, but still a ton of games left against Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Clint Hurdle might have won manager of the year if you cast the votes at the all-star break.

To me, here is all you need to know about the Pirates: They have no one in the Clubhouse with the clout to call a player's only meeting. Whether the meeting is to address the current losing streak or whatever or whenever the Pirates do not have a veteran leader. Just a bunch of kids who have over performed so far and now have placed finishing above .500 in jeopardy.

The Pirates now have four games against the Cubs followed by three against the Padres -- ALL AT HOME.

The Pirates could easily win 6 of 7 and be right back in first. What scares me though is how many games we have left AT Milwaukee.

First send D. McCutchen to the plate to deliver the lineup until he gets ejected, then send last night's starting pitcher, then send the bullpen coach and so on..... Stand up and make a statement about the unfair and unlevel playing field of MLB.

As has been said by so many others, if this had happened to the Red Sox or Yankess things would be different.

Getting 3 or 4 people ejected at the plate tonight before the game even started would be a great protest within the rules of baseball.

Also, why doesn't MLB remove Jerry Meals from tonight's game? I suspect there will be 1 or 2 ejections tonight before the game even starts.

Hurdle should MF and CS him at the plate before the game even starts until he is ejected!

Why put the Pirates in this position? Get him out of there and avoid the problem. Is MLB asking the Pirates to stay quiet or are they putting it in their face?

For all involved remove him tonight and tomorrow to remove ay issues!

Also, why is no one talking about the DOUBLE PLAY the Pirates would have turned since Proctor fell down? McCutchen is clearly calling for the throw to go to first and it would have got Proctor?

ESPN's highlights last night showed home plate criminal Jerry Meals joking and laughing with Scott Proctor at the plate before his at bat.

Has anyone else seen this?

This may be a subtle issue, but clear;y had it had a huge impact. I disagree that Jerry Meals' integrity "cannot be questioned."

For me, after seeing this vide, it is an open question.
