It can't hurt much to give him a shot.  It won't cost much and he will not see court much anyway.  I'd say he will come in with desire to learn and try to adapt to Spurs structure on and off the court.  Defensively and rebounding he can be a prospect.  Needs to really work on free throw shooting if I'm not mistaken.

RR has to be given some credit for developing on the court.  He has yet to put up consistent numbers for any length of time anywhere up until now.  Sure the league he is in right now is not much, but it does appear that he has hit some sort of stride regardless.  When he last played summer league with Spurs he looked pudgy.  I think he was trying to gain weight to be more of a load inside.  His timing and athleticism were definitely affected.  Physically he now looks bigger and more muscular, but ripped.   It seems he has adjusted to his new weight and physique. Congrats to him for sticking with it.  Hey he is playing professionally period.  That's still nothing to sneeze at.  We shall see in summer if he can do anything over on this side of the pond, whether it is with Austin or in San Antonio.

Splitter and Diaw's play has involved Pop knowing what he already has to a good degree of confidence in these two veterans.   He has purposely tinkered with lineup also because he wants more out of Baynes, which indeed is more from the big Aussie.  Don't be scared for their lessened minutes.  Amare has been real good in the past in pick n roll and more importantly the pick and pop.  He can rebound and defend down low.  With a more limited and focused role he can certainly be the elevated Ayres we hoped or only dreamed of.  I say go for it PATFO !!  I think he would really cooperate and be thrilled to help us even in just a limited role in the Chase for Seis !

Yea playing the un-same Heat from last year seemed to remind us a bit how Spurs are supposed to play ball.  Seeing over 30 assists, Parker revving it up, and Kawhi leading the charge was great.  We need to get consistent for sure.  A possession at a time, a quarter at a time, and one game at a time.  Pound the rock Spurs way.

Cojo embodies the phrase of the spirit of the Spurs, "Pound the rock."Most folks aren't even remotely close to understanding and evaluating players as talent and much less so as persons.  Pop saw the heart of a champion in Cojo shrouded in a "not yet ready to produce" package and pulled the trigger on that draft night.  Pop gives him rare praise.   Joseph reminds me of Avery Johnson when he was a player.   He works and works daily pummeling and ever widening a crack that is starting to crumble that once daunting boulder.  His shooting is improving and is now pretty good and consistent.  His driving and finishing in the lane is becoming excellent now too.  His defense and desire to leave it all on the floor till the final horn have never been questioned.  Cojo is a warrior and a class act all the way around.  We gotta find a way to get another ring and keep this guy too.  One never knows what the future holds and which way the boulder (cookie) crumbles.  Chase for Seis !!!

I fear if Spurs don't move on J-Mike this time our investment in him will be all for naught.  He is groomed in Spurs system.  He can bring in immediate and consistent spark.  He doesn't need the ball in his hands or much minutes to make an impact.  He can bounce outside on offense.  His 3 ball is already developing. He runs the floor and hits the boards well.  Only drawback has been about his lack of bulk down low.  On offense or defense he has showed tenacity with his long arms, timing and toughness consistently against bigger guys in d-league.  I like Daye as a project.  All he needs is time.  Ayers might be odd man out with Baynes developing well.  PATFO tends towards more stability and may prefer Ayers over Daye, even though Daye's ceiling is much higher.  They may be thinking that Kyle A. can absorb and surpass what Daye is presently providing.  Get J-Mike !  Go Spurs !!!

Green for Daye I'll agree on.  J-Mike sounds cool also.  Haha.  He just brings more to the table.  He can slash.  He is effective without the ball and productive for minutes played.  I think he should have made roster from the outset.  I still cheer for Daye and hope he takes next step like Kyle is.  PATFO are intrigued with Daye as a max shooter from 3.  He has yet to be consistent with little minutes he's gotten.

Quite honestly, I am surprised she hasn't gotten more attention locally or even nationally.  Spurs organization has been getting more respect, admiration, and down right copy-catting of how the organization does things.  If she had been hired in New York or Chicago, she probably would have her own talk radio show (kidding...she wouldn't go for that huh?).  I could see a weekly review of what trend setting fashion she is styling (she is attractive...no kidding).   At the end of the day we find ourselves talking about our basic and beloved Spurs in awesome San Antonio, Texas.  I still think she can at least sparkle in more local commercials and hopefully overtake Bonner's semi-fame in his sandwich hunting mis-adventures  (again...no kidding.  lol).  Orale !  Cheers !

Solid prospect.  Davis has a quick silver release.  He has good mechanics squaring up, follow through, etc..  He appears to have good court awareness and a nice feel for driving and hitting cutters or others spotting up.  More aggressive and athletic now.  Will never be a real inside threat.  An outside Bonner type with some ability to put ball on the floor.  Rebounding and defense are definite areas to work on.  Camp invite for next season for sure.  Lots of guys contracts finishing up for next year.

Now all of a sudden people automatically think that the Spurs backup point guard position has to be a "gunner" like Patty Mills ?  NOPE.  Cory has skills and demeanor that Pop truly appreciates. Cory tries to be a complete point guard.  Directing offense, penetrating, defending, and he even rebounds pretty well  for a pg.  He hasn't shot consistently well percentage wise on his jumpers that is true.  He was quoted that this summer summer he did work alot on his shooting.  He actually does see the floor very well.  He is an NBA level talent.  He needs to show that he is not just a back-up pg, but that he can really become a productive and yes more "attacking" player when his number is called.  Pop doesn't handout free cupcakes.  Cory has earned this opportunity to compete again with Patty.   Can he develop and grow ?  YES.  Baynes is still developing too.  Daye is sure trying to develop other parts of his game too.  Avery Johnson improved his game gradually over many years and by the time he was a veteran, he did have a decent outside jumper.   Go Cory !  Get healed Patty !  Go Baynes !  Go Daye !  They all can rise and contribute more.  We need it.  Go Spurs !!!

True Kawhi's demeanor on and off the court does look disinterested.  He does not get very expressive facially, verbally, emotionally, or even physically as with fist pumps or such.  The only thing he lacks  is experience and belief that "He is one bad man !"  I'd say he defers rather than becomes disinterested.  He does need to continue to work on finishing in the lane, but that comes with confidence and more experience, and again when he believes that he is the "Man".  Literally that is still not the case.  TP, and sometimes Manu, and then TD, but Pop needs to facilitate more of the idea that Kawhi is the Man on more occasions, and that is already developing as we all can see.  I only see it as a developmental issue, both team and individual player wise.  Bowen just may be right about him leading us to another title.  GO SPURS !!!

How about record versus teams above .500 and playoff type contender teams ?  I know we got better there by beating the Clips and Portland.  The Heat game tomorrow will be a good test.  Sometimes against aggressive defensive teams, if they know a player is not a triple threat (dribble, pass, shoot), they will cheat over into the passing lanes and tip passes away or force players to dribble and penetrate.  We had such problems with Heat on that last year.  Now we have Boris, who is more aggressive to drive in, Marco, Patty, Kawhi, Danny is a little better, and even Cory is penetrating more aggressively.  That coupled with a somewhat better Tiago, Ayers, and even Baynes to rebound and defend basket, we could have better chances to beat Heat tomorrow.  Hopefully we will continue to build off of that and get more mentally tough for home stretch and playoff run all the way.  I saw too many "scared faces" against Heat last year in finals.  Fear paralyzes, nullifies skill, and makes one make indecisive negative plays.  Patty has no fear, and Kawhi knows he is a tiger now.  Big three are healthy, getting some rest and are gearing up.  Man I'm excited !  GO SPURS !!

Folks are getting a bit too hyped about a guy who won't get that many minutes anyway.  Let's be honest.  Kawhi will play hard long minutes.  We proved that Boris can guard Lebron at times to give Kawhi a breather.  Let's not exaggerate the need here.  A Meta W. P. could be a toughness factor if rejuvenated for a run at a title.  He still has a few tricks up his sleeve if he can get focused.  That I do believe.  Don't know what kind of shape he is in physically and mentally  We can also use the spot to snag and develop another young project type.  Devin Ebanks ?  Fells from the Toros ?

I hope Patty can have more impact this coming season.  CoJo already has Pop's favor with his defense, passing, and offense management style that he already has shown a little during last year's season and playoffs.  Patty is more of a gunner.  Shoot first and ask questions later type at this point.  No doubt he did great in international play for his country, but he had the keys and the steering wheel to their bus.  He will not have that kind of opportunity with Spurs in my opinion with that style.  In any case, I hope they both develop, but it is obvious PATFO are looking for a veteran point guard to backup TP who can drive into the lane and create.  I do think Nando may not soon be around and this may give more opportunity for others too including Patty..

We can only hope.  Europe had no offers or interest in him at all?  I'm not saying they needed to, but offensively at least he could help some team in a better league at this point it seems.  He can still develop.  A stretch 5 somebody called him in summer.  I put on some weight alright and knew how to use it offensively in one game he was given opportunity to play in.  I had hoped him to be a 4 type who can stretch floor and cover some ground too defensively.  He needs interior focus.... more rebounding, defense, closing the lane, and shot blocking.  He seems to want to roam too much on defense and doesn't seem to desire rebounding too much from my small window perspective thus far.  I used the word "seem" a lot.  He has a long way to go if he wants to make the Spurs roster.  Another 2 years maybe?  "Ryan we are pulling for you.  Get to work and ask Spurs for all the help and direction they can give you."

CoJo has made strides certainly.  He showed flashes at Texas, but they had another guard who dominated the ball.  If he would have stayed another two years at Texas Spurs would have had no shot at drafting him in my opinion.  He would've gone much higher.  Anyway, he has a never give up style on offense, but mainly on defense.  even if he gets broken down or passed by an opposing driving guard, he stays in the play and doesn't get deflated.  He hustles and plays with heart.  We are so used to seeing TP's speed, but CoJo is showing he too can drive and maneuver into the lane.  I like his progress this summer no doubt, though I am not too surprised.  He has TP as an excellent mentor and example.  Now he can just visit Austin instead of having to go for work.

I have to agree with your assessment of Baynes.  He already has play off game experience this past season as Splitter was hobbling and Baynes did really pretty good on Dwight Howard.  He had weak side help and team defense helping as LA couldn't shoot from outside, so Spurs were able to sag in and help Baynes on Howard.  Nevertheless he showed good footwork, timing, strength and contesting with his long arms against the best big in the game.  Not a bad calling card so far for Baynes.  He needs to learn nuances, but that comes from being on the court.  I think his pic and roll needs work.  He can pic well, but doesn't have the feel yet for rolling effectively to the bucket for a possible feed and finish like Tiago, who is superior in that regard.  I know he can give a few minutes a game to make us more formidable on the boards and not giving up so many easy inside drives and buckets.  How many minutes?  Ask Pop during season.  Good and fair article.

He does need some physical development and a greater appreciation of defense for sure.  He has too much offense, but is more like a 4.  He needs to develop some 3 game offensively and defensively, which will be his biggest hurdle at least in making the Spurs final roster.  That is highly unlikely this year in my opinion.  I do hope we retain his rights somehow.  Again he is too much of a good raw prospect to let go totally.

Baynes is developing nicely and it is a good contrast to exploit most of the younger bigs that are more like 4's and stretch fours nowadays like Bosh, which is fine, but he can exploit them inside old school style.  It takes a man to be disciplined enough to stay down low and bang and produce.  Young tall and even heavy guys want to dribble and lead the break and swoop in for dunks on fast breaks.  Here again that is fine, but Baynes can be effective to counter that style of player that seems to be increasing Smith, Nerens, and others.
