True Kawhi's demeanor on and off the court does look disinterested.  He does not get very expressive facially, verbally, emotionally, or even physically as with fist pumps or such.  The only thing he lacks  is experience and belief that "He is one bad man !"  I'd say he defers rather than becomes disinterested.  He does need to continue to work on finishing in the lane, but that comes with confidence and more experience, and again when he believes that he is the "Man".  Literally that is still not the case.  TP, and sometimes Manu, and then TD, but Pop needs to facilitate more of the idea that Kawhi is the Man on more occasions, and that is already developing as we all can see.  I only see it as a developmental issue, both team and individual player wise.  Bowen just may be right about him leading us to another title.  GO SPURS !!!

How about record versus teams above .500 and playoff type contender teams ?  I know we got better there by beating the Clips and Portland.  The Heat game tomorrow will be a good test.  Sometimes against aggressive defensive teams, if they know a player is not a triple threat (dribble, pass, shoot), they will cheat over into the passing lanes and tip passes away or force players to dribble and penetrate.  We had such problems with Heat on that last year.  Now we have Boris, who is more aggressive to drive in, Marco, Patty, Kawhi, Danny is a little better, and even Cory is penetrating more aggressively.  That coupled with a somewhat better Tiago, Ayers, and even Baynes to rebound and defend basket, we could have better chances to beat Heat tomorrow.  Hopefully we will continue to build off of that and get more mentally tough for home stretch and playoff run all the way.  I saw too many "scared faces" against Heat last year in finals.  Fear paralyzes, nullifies skill, and makes one make indecisive negative plays.  Patty has no fear, and Kawhi knows he is a tiger now.  Big three are healthy, getting some rest and are gearing up.  Man I'm excited !  GO SPURS !!

Folks are getting a bit too hyped about a guy who won't get that many minutes anyway.  Let's be honest.  Kawhi will play hard long minutes.  We proved that Boris can guard Lebron at times to give Kawhi a breather.  Let's not exaggerate the need here.  A Meta W. P. could be a toughness factor if rejuvenated for a run at a title.  He still has a few tricks up his sleeve if he can get focused.  That I do believe.  Don't know what kind of shape he is in physically and mentally  We can also use the spot to snag and develop another young project type.  Devin Ebanks ?  Fells from the Toros ?

I hope Patty can have more impact this coming season.  CoJo already has Pop's favor with his defense, passing, and offense management style that he already has shown a little during last year's season and playoffs.  Patty is more of a gunner.  Shoot first and ask questions later type at this point.  No doubt he did great in international play for his country, but he had the keys and the steering wheel to their bus.  He will not have that kind of opportunity with Spurs in my opinion with that style.  In any case, I hope they both develop, but it is obvious PATFO are looking for a veteran point guard to backup TP who can drive into the lane and create.  I do think Nando may not soon be around and this may give more opportunity for others too including Patty..

We can only hope.  Europe had no offers or interest in him at all?  I'm not saying they needed to, but offensively at least he could help some team in a better league at this point it seems.  He can still develop.  A stretch 5 somebody called him in summer.  I put on some weight alright and knew how to use it offensively in one game he was given opportunity to play in.  I had hoped him to be a 4 type who can stretch floor and cover some ground too defensively.  He needs interior focus.... more rebounding, defense, closing the lane, and shot blocking.  He seems to want to roam too much on defense and doesn't seem to desire rebounding too much from my small window perspective thus far.  I used the word "seem" a lot.  He has a long way to go if he wants to make the Spurs roster.  Another 2 years maybe?  "Ryan we are pulling for you.  Get to work and ask Spurs for all the help and direction they can give you."

CoJo has made strides certainly.  He showed flashes at Texas, but they had another guard who dominated the ball.  If he would have stayed another two years at Texas Spurs would have had no shot at drafting him in my opinion.  He would've gone much higher.  Anyway, he has a never give up style on offense, but mainly on defense.  even if he gets broken down or passed by an opposing driving guard, he stays in the play and doesn't get deflated.  He hustles and plays with heart.  We are so used to seeing TP's speed, but CoJo is showing he too can drive and maneuver into the lane.  I like his progress this summer no doubt, though I am not too surprised.  He has TP as an excellent mentor and example.  Now he can just visit Austin instead of having to go for work.

I have to agree with your assessment of Baynes.  He already has play off game experience this past season as Splitter was hobbling and Baynes did really pretty good on Dwight Howard.  He had weak side help and team defense helping as LA couldn't shoot from outside, so Spurs were able to sag in and help Baynes on Howard.  Nevertheless he showed good footwork, timing, strength and contesting with his long arms against the best big in the game.  Not a bad calling card so far for Baynes.  He needs to learn nuances, but that comes from being on the court.  I think his pic and roll needs work.  He can pic well, but doesn't have the feel yet for rolling effectively to the bucket for a possible feed and finish like Tiago, who is superior in that regard.  I know he can give a few minutes a game to make us more formidable on the boards and not giving up so many easy inside drives and buckets.  How many minutes?  Ask Pop during season.  Good and fair article.

He does need some physical development and a greater appreciation of defense for sure.  He has too much offense, but is more like a 4.  He needs to develop some 3 game offensively and defensively, which will be his biggest hurdle at least in making the Spurs final roster.  That is highly unlikely this year in my opinion.  I do hope we retain his rights somehow.  Again he is too much of a good raw prospect to let go totally.

Baynes is developing nicely and it is a good contrast to exploit most of the younger bigs that are more like 4's and stretch fours nowadays like Bosh, which is fine, but he can exploit them inside old school style.  It takes a man to be disciplined enough to stay down low and bang and produce.  Young tall and even heavy guys want to dribble and lead the break and swoop in for dunks on fast breaks.  Here again that is fine, but Baynes can be effective to counter that style of player that seems to be increasing Smith, Nerens, and others.

Cory was penetrating and that is what we wanted to see.  Stronger and more confident.  Nando was pretty good. I liked Baynes he was very rugged and not forcing shots too much.  Thomas looked quite comfortable scoring and he needs to work on his defense and his body to chase 3's instead of fours.  Richards looked thicker and confident.  His shot will fall if he calms down some.  Thompson was interesting.  I wanna see Pitman.

I don't believe Spurs are through.  We have too many guards.  Oden is more of a reach at this point than Richards, but with hard work this summer, positive attitude, and good production, RR could earn 15th spot and do what Baynes did this past season going back and forth from D-league.  It can be a humbling experience when you are getting your butt kicked, but it makes you decide if you are willing to do what it takes to make it or not.  He does have some tools and ability that could translate to NBA. Interesting article.  Thanks.  1. Belinelli appears to be a better bang for the buck in Spurs situation at present moving forward with Ginobli's declining ability to drive and finish consistently.  I could not have said that before.  I really like Neal.  Ginobli served Neal very well before when Manu could create and kick to him.  We wish Neal all the best far away from our division and conference.  Would hate to see Neal with a close rival.  Belinelli wanted to be a Spur, which is great.  He will have less burden to create on the floor out of necessity.  His efficiency will increase shooting wise and his skills to create will serve us on the second unit immensely.  Certainly a triple threat type of player unlike Gary for the most part, but Gary was developing even in that area.  We wish you all the best Gary far far away.

2.  For Ginobli to continue to be effective for the Spurs, he, in his own mind, must step back and relinquish his role as a main creator and increase his role as mentor and 3 point shooter.  For Pop this is already a process that has been started and Manu's minutes must also decrease for the team's success and also for his own personal health and longevity for a long up-coming season.  It's good that he will take the summer off If I understood correctly.  Maybe he can take Tiago an drink chocolate protein mootopia milk and lift weights with the coyote and become the Spurs version of "Burly men".  Just messin there!  More on Tiago in a minute.  Ginobli is a local favorite no doubt, but certainly Argentinian through and through wanting to play for his country most every summer.  This did wear on him over the years.  Hope we can get a ring with his more diminished, but more effective role.  He was significantly overpaid. I thought 2 year for 8 or 9 or 10 tops would still have kept the deal "dignified" for his legacy and bank account.

3.  I have been a fan of Tiago from way back, and my thoughts are biased and less bottom line business.  Most of what I have projected of him has come to pass.  I felt he would take next step and contribute more as he most certainly did this past season.   Without him we definitely do not go to the finals or maybe even western finals.  You can read those stats on your own.  I believe he has a superior basketball mind, and has decidedly adapted himself on the court as a "complimentary player"  alongside TD.  He is definitely one of the absolute best at pic and roll offense.  His low post defense is also way up there.  For the most part he "complimented" very well.  Goin again on my bias, hope, and decent track record of his progress and development, I project he will be directed and accept and assume a more assertive role down low on offense and a greater focus on rebounding.  I felt if he was more able on the hi-lo against Heaters we would have another banner hoisted.  He needs strength, confidence, and skill to have pinned smaller Heat defenders down low receive ball from TD or Parker and with a decided and quick turn into the lane quickly shoot a high release hook from point blank range.  Instead Heaters cheated off of him and wouldn't come in to help against him, as they quickly learned that he wouldn't shoot, but only quickly pass the ball out and often get his pass stolen.  I project he will work on this all summer and indeed rise to the occasion to be a "go to guy" at times as he proved to a lesser degree and much lesser spotlight in some games during the season.  At this stage in his career, I still believe he can still take it to the next level.  He, as I mentioned earlier will not play for Brazil team this summer and play hubby and daddy, work on his game in the gym, with Chip, Chad, and also in the weight room with Manu, Coyote, and mootopia protein milk...... chocolate flavor will be optional.  GO SPURS !!!
