Hope Rangers sign this dude. We still have to keep trying to make up for those 1st round picks we traded.

Torts on the run from New York.lol.

Point Roberts is just a little village.Vancouver is a beautiful exciting city that everybody loves.Rather odd choice, but I guess Torts has his own thing, just like his coaching.
He was the Ranger coach for one season too long, if you ask me.

If Oscar Lindberg did make the team over Miller and Fast, it would be interesting- it would mean he played fantastic and had an outstanding camp.because JT and Jesper are both very solid prospects. It'd be great if we had a faceoff artist with good scoring and great playmaking skills playing on our third line-at a cheaper price.

Good signing.Brass is a solid all around forward who is going to play well with Zucc, who we should also lock up long term.New York Rangers are a stronger team with the signing.

Brass has nice skills and I am interested in seeing if he can raise them to the next level.Once he signs,I'm really excited about this particular team going forward. If we go real deep into playoffs next year, then I want the team to stay intact.
On the way we have a few players with excellent upside to help replace any older vets we lose.We don't trade any more first rounders hopefully.
Really love this team, with a higher cap hopefully we can keep most of it together and it's no longer a work in progress but a real solid NHL deep playoff team -one of the top 2 or 3 in the league consistently in the final.
If we get Brass for 4.5 for one -not bad then make that longer term deal.At least we can see how he does first.

OK with the 5.2 /4 years.you don't' pay for potential, but it is a consideration. He realizes he has a chance to improve his play with his Ranger's current situation.Hope he signs.Once we get Brass signed, really looking forward to a powerhouse season from this team. The team is really unified-some of the players playing together in the organization for many years-and the great camaraderie you can see on the ice.Can see why players want to be a part of that.

I think either MSL or McDonagh are good. McDonagh is on the ice more,so he has the edge.

@AveryYesBettmanNo @ObviouslyWeHadAGoodRun I agree that they don't deserve the big bucks right now , but Brassard and Zuccarello are not mediocre in any NHL sense-they are both what I would consider good NHL players.I would consider Girardi mediocre but that's just me.

just a hunch.I remember Sather tried to trade for him when he had a terrible sophomore year but wasn't able to make the deal.
We need Brass this year.He has upside. If he reaches his potential then he is worth it.Other hand.his play right now is not 5.6 mil.If he doesn't reach his upside such a deal is a joke.We could eventually sign stamkos Lindberg Miller or Fast could reach THEIR upsides,Lots of possibilities that a 5.6 deal hinders.Sign him for 5 or slightly more.He is a good player and UFA is simply crazy now.So bite the bullet but don't mortgage the farm.
I like the idea of signing Danny Carcillo if there's extra cash.I wonder if the Rangers are considering that.

@scrangersfan @betweentheworlds There was a point when I was watching Zucc when people were still critical and negative towards him and I realized he was awesome. There is a point now where last year I was watching him and people were saying how great he was and I suddenly realized he is scary. He could be a historically great player.I hope we see him achieve that this year.
@Gorangers0525 Watching him compared to other 2nd or third liners , i see flashes of brilliance, lightning quick and correct reactions and the ability to read plays and make plays quickly and accurately. His shot is very good, fast and powerful. He can skate and play 2 way hockey. With Zuccarello he has developed a great chemistry and together the two are dominant against all most all teams in the league .
these two points- Brassard's skill set and his chemistry with Zuccarello allow me to apply the adjective to him.
He has some consistency issues -if you can call them issues-because they haven't severely impacted his overall contribution to the club.
Re-sign Brass.I hope they keep in mind that Zucc benefits Brass more than Brass benefits Zucc.Brass is a good ,actually outstanding, player who has found his optimum spot on the team.So I hope they can get him to sign accordingly.Keeping in mind that Zucc helps his game.Anyways Brass is good, has upside, and we don't want to not lock him up. 4.5-5 hopefully.

Zucc is gonna be a mainstay player for the Rangers.Gotta get him signed long term before he becomes UFA.Now he's signed and we have to get Brass signed -the dynamic duo.
JT Miller can fill a roster spot and that's a good thing.Give the youth a chance and now's the time for Miller to step up be the same solid physical playmaker and scorer he has shown at AHL and junior He has to boost his skills up for NHL and good luck to him.Rangers have two other forwards who are NHL ready in Jesper Fast and hopefully Oscar Lindberg.Having three new quality roster players at their cap hit and potential is an ace up the Ranger's sleeve for next season.

Good luck to him.Time for him now to fill in the missing places in his skillset. Two way hockey players are a major part of forwards in the NHL and on the New York Rangers especially.Good luck Danny boy, time to step up to the plate and give them what they require.

@Rangers_54 @fs2020 I sincerely hope you're right.Having a good fourth line that could score as well as defend was very important this team last year. For his role, there were a lot of fourth line NHL players worse than Brian Boyle playing in the league last year.Plenty.
3 weeks, 1 day ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Glass won't be able to fill the shoes of Brian Boyle, who had great playmaking skills as well as his excellent defence skills.Boyle is an elite 4th line player in the NHL right now.
That said, Glass could replace Dorsett in bein the player to stick up for teammates.IE: IF Glass had fought Prust in a retaliation fight earlier last season, then maybe Brandon wouldn't have immediately targetted Step.Prust would not have any notice of Dorsett as a threat whatsoever.
If Boyle is right then the Stralman exit is not an issue. He'll fill the bill and add more scoring.Good player. If we keep our team intact and add some players before April. We are set for another deep playoff run.

Great! This means we're re- signing some important components of the Rangers core.looking for long terms for both Zuc and Brass-together they have been very consistent and productive.Krieder is a good playmaker who is familiar with most Rangers.a bridge contract for him.
3 weeks, 5 days ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
JT Miller, Oscar Lindberg, Jesper Fast Ryah Haggerty to replace the scoring of Brad Richards and Benoit Pouliot is a shotgun approach.Just fire and hope it hits something. All are basically unproven as far as scoring.
However Miller and Fast are proven NHL playmakers. So the situation is not dire.
Step is a consistantly plus 60 point player with upside for some serious points. He's good when he's playing at the top of his game.Krieder has to prove himself of course, he just finished a good rookie year. We'll see.
We have a contending team and there is no rush to get someone -there is time to fill holes. No emergency at all.
@IhateGaborik @fs2020 Staal can play outstanding when he is on .He is capable of being elite. We would have to get an elite player back-not easy.
4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Why trade when we can contend for the cup with what we have now?Staal Hagelin are both players that are worfh paying contracts to in UFA if we can .Maybe we make a deal at that time maybe not.but don't wreck the team with a big change unless it's necessary. This is another win now year.
Since Sather hasn't blown up last season's team yet, this is so far pretty great, even though we lost a superb 4th liner in Boyle.Thats about it.The center and scoring issues have to be addressed but this is basically the same team and we have time.Have to sign all our RFA's and Carcillo. Then we're back in deep again, hopefully

@IhateGaborik @GetTheKingACup Nash has to play well next year.If he does that and plays well in the playoffs if we get there, he's out of the doghouse.
@GiveGartneraCup I have thought Girardi way overrated for a long time.Should have let him go, it was a big big mistake to give him a NMC for 3 years.
Haven't seen Tanner Glass play, but he's not likely to be as good a fourth liner as Brian Boyle, and some are whinging about what a crappy player he is, so the three year deal is worrisome.I would still like to see Carcillo back on that line.
We are needing our forward prospects to bring it this year at this point. It's not a sure thing, but it is possible they can.
@NYR 2014 Thats a lot of points for a rookie like Lindberg to replace. However, I think he'll adapt and be better all around on a line, not run out of gas in the playoffs for sure.
@awesome bulldog Agree with most but wouldn't want Dustin Penner-see him as lazy.It would be real nice if Miller/Lindberg/Fast can improve their play when they make the roster.Gonna have to depend on them.
Gotta get our RFA'a signed.
@Josh-CK I think he's still under contract in KHL.
IF Dan Boyle can still bring it, and hasn't run out of gas, then this is a good replacement for Anton Stralman. It also gives our defence prospects MacIIrath ,Allen and Skeji plenty of time to be finally ready for the NHL.
If Danny Boyle can still play almost as well as his prime years, then this is a good signing.
1 month ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/rangers-address-defense-with-signings-of-dan-boyle-mike-kostka.html
Hear that Tanner Glass is lousy player. So Oscar Lindberg, who is a good player will likely be the Boyle replacement unless we sign someone else.Hope they resign Carcillo.
Dominic Moore1.5m for 2 years! Yes!
What's the skinny on Tanner Glass?Good Boyle replacement?
We need most of the team back.No question. We're going to lose some if not most of the UFA's.Not much to do about it really.
RFA's- all back as usual.
Now the thing is this: Rangers have an ace up their sleeve-the prospects trying to make the team.
I'll bet that JT Miller will be training camp ready this year and report two weeks early like all the rest of the Rangers.
Oscar Lindberg is going to make the team out of camp -struggle a little and just improve until the playoff stretch when he turns amazingly awesome.
Jesper Fast is going find his scoring touch and just bring it on offence/defence and two way play.
One or both of Allen and McIIrath will be up at some point and surprisingly be good enough to be decent and steady on D.
Thats what my prediction is-hope that some of it turns out true.If so, losing the UFA's is all in stride.
Sign Dominic, he's the essential fourth liner- a catalyst to make the other players better.2 years - nicee.
Pouliot knows he isn't going to find linemates as good for him as Zuc and Brass. He knows they made him and saved him from going to Europe. He takes the Penguins money and risks sliding back to mediocrity.
Now's the chance for the new prospects to start making a professional name for themselves and meet the crowd they'll be seeing for years.Good luck to them all!
Heart and soul of this Rangers team. He's so talented I can see him becoming a mini-Gretzky.Sign the man, lock him in.He'll be an NHL great for many years.
@SmellyKisio Yeah they found real good players last year , now they absolutely have to repeat that once more.Pouliot for one year is good-there is always that inconsistancy history, but there even may be players in our system who could optimally replace him if they continue to improve.
@Brukie_ @fs2020 Well we're stuck with the guy.And he has a point-there's a cap and the players association basically voted to support it, so they should live with the consequences.
Sympathy for Sather who says players have to"pull in their horns".I guess the only thing to do now is use the last option with every one of these players playing hardball.Replace.This has to be decisive and well crafted.Every one of these UFA's is quality and we must get matching quality to substitute. Not a single mistake would be optimal. So Glen Sather should research carefully and do what has to be done.
Boyle and Moore were the main quintessential fourth liners.Dorset and Carcillo were interchangeable.Boyle has higher aspirations for the third line-we aren't seeing him in Ranger blue next year.He has to be replaced -maybe with an acquisition-another jumbo skilled guy -or from within ie: Jesper Fast for scoring and defence.
Dominic Moore is good in his role and they should try to keep him.If not then Oscar Lindberg is a very good center with great faceoff ability, but Moore would be good to be re-signed if numbers are ok.He is a catalyst.
Overall if we have no other options, Fast ,Lindberg and Carcillo would be a good fourth line. Carcillo would also protect the two skilled swedes.
Wow.Well lets see if the goalies turn out but if one of the two goalies chosen continues to improve to NHL level then this has been a successful draft for the Rangers. If one of them improves to permanent starter status, this could be the most important draft in years.Good luck to both guys.
1 month ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/59th-overall-rangers-select-brandon-halverson-goaltender.html
Like this choice. He could do well in the Ranger's development system.Could turn out good.A big fast gritty power forward who can score some goals and passes the puck accurately and crisply.
1 month ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/85th-overall-rangers-select-forward-keegan-iverson.html
Boyle is probably going to be gone, Stralman is probably going to be gone,Pouliot maybe gone. Dorsett is gone RIchards is gone. That'e enough change. We can carefully replace them with Carcillo, LIndberg, Fast, Miller Connor Allen, or McIIrath and an affordable acquisition or two.
Myself, I only want to see the changes we are forced to make-no more dismantling of a successful hockey team.
In Gordie we trust. His picks are a big part of us playing in the SCF.
