Good prediction.I agree with it, but Duclair may get his 10 games if he continues to shine. However,he still should be sent down coz its a helluva long season with Rangers for someone just out of juniors and he also needs to bulk up some.

Good to see the all the candidates post points.Duclair Wow! However, there's more preseason games on the schedule.Conistancy is needed to crack the roster.

Yeah really, Hayes and Lindberg can bring versatility and skill at least.Pyatt was such a limited player

So no Stepan for the first month and a half.Everybody moves up one and Oscar Lindberg moves to the 4th line if he is ready.plus Hayes is gettin any rough edges polished and is going to be there if need be.Not great but it'll turn out well and we'll start winning.Lindberg and Hayes are both talents.
I would say Staal s a must sign. Staal isn't irreplaceable, but replacing him could take years and likely just as much if not more money. Injuries are not as big a concern the more recovery time he has.He is a core player. McDonagh and Staal are the lynch pins of the Ranger defence. At this time we need him to stay to be an SC contender or winner.Gotta sign the dude.

@leftwingbarbara @fs2020 Hopefully, he has had all his bad luck, he appears to be fully back on the mend.

@Josh-CK When you see what level of of player Staal is likely to be in the future, that Girardi contract really is an irritant.Staal could possibly be playing at the highest levels we have seen him play ALL the time as he enters his prime. That would make him one of the best D in the NHL.Not easy to replace that -pay him his money, I say.
Marc Staal is a must sign. I believe Leetch, he's a smart cookie : Staal is going to move to the next level, and we have to have that on the Rangers.
Just looking back a couple of years in the Rangers prospects some don't find a permanent spot on the Rangers roster, for example Dupont, Grachev,Kolarik,Weise, Newbury,Kundratek, while others do,such as Hagelin, Kreider, and Zucc.
Lots of our prospects don't become regular roster players,it's a real challenge to succeed and become a Ranger, you have to be exceptional and if Kristo can get to that level then its good for him, if he can't raise his game he won't find a regular roster spot. Its the same for all our prospects.

Good signing.Good upside.Have to keep on signing prospects for the next couple of years to make up for the lost 1st round picks. He has his work cut out for him.But he picked a good team.

Sign him if they can.Rangers need good prospects to make up for the lost 1st round draft picks.Hafta think New York is in the mix to be chosen, Original six- SC contending team, good very loyal fans, great city-good money-lots of skilled players on the team-a lot of positives for choosing it.

If McIlrath becomes a truly good top four Dman on this particular team, then that was a good pick with the extras he brings-that is still a debate whether he is getting there but its at present very possible. Tarasenko was a great pick that I was for, but we have Duclair and Buch in the wings who may likely make up for it, as well as future forwards.
There is no one who would be a physical and skilled top 4 Dman.Hopefully Dylan makes it ,fair and square and the Rangers are then not going to have to get a Tanner Glass or Carbomb to fill a roster spot. And hey, can hire another skilled forward.
@TruBluEsp Hags and Lindberg might be a real dynamite combo.A possession duo for sure and Miller can play to the net also-might work.
If he has a good camp I think that JT Miller is going to initially be on the team. But its a big year for him, he has to really raise his play now to stay with the team for the full season.Fast and Lindberg are good, and even Ryan Bourque-who is obviously ready to play 110 percent may surprise when he gets his chance esp with better linemates.Hoping Miller meets the challenge.
Think its possible that one of Oscar Lindberg or Jesper Fast are going to have a strong training camp and crack the roster.
I don't see any problems with him .He improves every year.He has real fast reactions and is always clever-those are two attributes that are are the mark of a top player.I easily expect 70 points plus from him this year if if things are normal.
Keep an eye on Girardi next season.I think you'll notice he is declining deceptively. He's been mediocre for a long time now, and it becomes obvious at the higher level of the playoffs. In my opinion It is costing the Rangers playoff wins.
one interesting thing is that there is going to be a point where say, Dylan McIIrath is going to be Girardi's equal. Is G's contract going to stop his replacing on the Blueline. Is G's contract going to affect us re-signing the clearly superior Marc Staal? That contract Sather gave with the NTC is another Redden -esque move by Slats.

@ATCRyan Skjei is basically unknown and McIIrath and Allen are much the same unproven NHL roster players right now.To count on them is not part of the equation.Staal has no issues other than some vague health concerns, he is one of the two best Rangers D and one of the best Ranger D in a long time. Girardi is not in the same ballpark as those two.Staal should be signed, no question. Defence wins championships. We should pay the man and be assured of deep runs in the playoffs for years.
If they can re-sign Staal, Rangers are in good shape for the future. If not-its a big deal because Staal is one of the underestimated Rangers at some times. He is one of the keys to this team in my opinion. The ONLY issue with him is his past injuries-and it seems (maybe)that is OK so far.If they want to be in the SCF on a regular basis-Staal is pretty much a must sign-I see him as that good. He's not an expendable, as Callahan was.

Hope Rangers sign this dude. We still have to keep trying to make up for those 1st round picks we traded.

Torts on the run from New York.lol.
Point Roberts is just a little village.Vancouver is a beautiful exciting city that everybody loves.Rather odd choice, but I guess Torts has his own thing, just like his coaching.
He was the Ranger coach for one season too long, if you ask me.
If Oscar Lindberg did make the team over Miller and Fast, it would be interesting- it would mean he played fantastic and had an outstanding camp.because JT and Jesper are both very solid prospects. It'd be great if we had a faceoff artist with good scoring and great playmaking skills playing on our third line-at a cheaper price.
Good signing.Brass is a solid all around forward who is going to play well with Zucc, who we should also lock up long term.New York Rangers are a stronger team with the signing.
2 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/rangers-sign-brassard-to-five-year-deal.html
Brass has nice skills and I am interested in seeing if he can raise them to the next level.Once he signs,I'm really excited about this particular team going forward. If we go real deep into playoffs next year, then I want the team to stay intact.
On the way we have a few players with excellent upside to help replace any older vets we lose.We don't trade any more first rounders hopefully.
Really love this team, with a higher cap hopefully we can keep most of it together and it's no longer a work in progress but a real solid NHL deep playoff team -one of the top 2 or 3 in the league consistently in the final.
If we get Brass for 4.5 for one -not bad then make that longer term deal.At least we can see how he does first.
OK with the 5.2 /4 years.you don't' pay for potential, but it is a consideration. He realizes he has a chance to improve his play with his Ranger's current situation.Hope he signs.Once we get Brass signed, really looking forward to a powerhouse season from this team. The team is really unified-some of the players playing together in the organization for many years-and the great camaraderie you can see on the ice.Can see why players want to be a part of that.
I think either MSL or McDonagh are good. McDonagh is on the ice more,so he has the edge.

@AveryYesBettmanNo @ObviouslyWeHadAGoodRun I agree that they don't deserve the big bucks right now , but Brassard and Zuccarello are not mediocre in any NHL sense-they are both what I would consider good NHL players.I would consider Girardi mediocre but that's just me.
just a hunch.I remember Sather tried to trade for him when he had a terrible sophomore year but wasn't able to make the deal.
We need Brass this year.He has upside. If he reaches his potential then he is worth it.Other hand.his play right now is not 5.6 mil.If he doesn't reach his upside such a deal is a joke.We could eventually sign stamkos Lindberg Miller or Fast could reach THEIR upsides,Lots of possibilities that a 5.6 deal hinders.Sign him for 5 or slightly more.He is a good player and UFA is simply crazy now.So bite the bullet but don't mortgage the farm.
I like the idea of signing Danny Carcillo if there's extra cash.I wonder if the Rangers are considering that.
@scrangersfan @betweentheworlds There was a point when I was watching Zucc when people were still critical and negative towards him and I realized he was awesome. There is a point now where last year I was watching him and people were saying how great he was and I suddenly realized he is scary. He could be a historically great player.I hope we see him achieve that this year.
@Gorangers0525 Watching him compared to other 2nd or third liners , i see flashes of brilliance, lightning quick and correct reactions and the ability to read plays and make plays quickly and accurately. His shot is very good, fast and powerful. He can skate and play 2 way hockey. With Zuccarello he has developed a great chemistry and together the two are dominant against all most all teams in the league .
these two points- Brassard's skill set and his chemistry with Zuccarello allow me to apply the adjective to him.
He has some consistency issues -if you can call them issues-because they haven't severely impacted his overall contribution to the club.
Re-sign Brass.I hope they keep in mind that Zucc benefits Brass more than Brass benefits Zucc.Brass is a good ,actually outstanding, player who has found his optimum spot on the team.So I hope they can get him to sign accordingly.Keeping in mind that Zucc helps his game.Anyways Brass is good, has upside, and we don't want to not lock him up. 4.5-5 hopefully.
Zucc is gonna be a mainstay player for the Rangers.Gotta get him signed long term before he becomes UFA.Now he's signed and we have to get Brass signed -the dynamic duo.
JT Miller can fill a roster spot and that's a good thing.Give the youth a chance and now's the time for Miller to step up be the same solid physical playmaker and scorer he has shown at AHL and junior He has to boost his skills up for NHL and good luck to him.Rangers have two other forwards who are NHL ready in Jesper Fast and hopefully Oscar Lindberg.Having three new quality roster players at their cap hit and potential is an ace up the Ranger's sleeve for next season.

Good luck to him.Time for him now to fill in the missing places in his skillset. Two way hockey players are a major part of forwards in the NHL and on the New York Rangers especially.Good luck Danny boy, time to step up to the plate and give them what they require.

@Rangers_54 @fs2020 I sincerely hope you're right.Having a good fourth line that could score as well as defend was very important this team last year. For his role, there were a lot of fourth line NHL players worse than Brian Boyle playing in the league last year.Plenty.
Glass won't be able to fill the shoes of Brian Boyle, who had great playmaking skills as well as his excellent defence skills.Boyle is an elite 4th line player in the NHL right now.
That said, Glass could replace Dorsett in bein the player to stick up for teammates.IE: IF Glass had fought Prust in a retaliation fight earlier last season, then maybe Brandon wouldn't have immediately targetted Step.Prust would not have any notice of Dorsett as a threat whatsoever.
If Boyle is right then the Stralman exit is not an issue. He'll fill the bill and add more scoring.Good player. If we keep our team intact and add some players before April. We are set for another deep playoff run.
Great! This means we're re- signing some important components of the Rangers core.looking for long terms for both Zuc and Brass-together they have been very consistent and productive.Krieder is a good playmaker who is familiar with most Rangers.a bridge contract for him.
JT Miller, Oscar Lindberg, Jesper Fast Ryah Haggerty to replace the scoring of Brad Richards and Benoit Pouliot is a shotgun approach.Just fire and hope it hits something. All are basically unproven as far as scoring.
However Miller and Fast are proven NHL playmakers. So the situation is not dire.
Step is a consistantly plus 60 point player with upside for some serious points. He's good when he's playing at the top of his game.Krieder has to prove himself of course, he just finished a good rookie year. We'll see.
We have a contending team and there is no rush to get someone -there is time to fill holes. No emergency at all.
@IhateGaborik @fs2020 Staal can play outstanding when he is on .He is capable of being elite. We would have to get an elite player back-not easy.
2 months, 4 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Why trade when we can contend for the cup with what we have now?Staal Hagelin are both players that are worfh paying contracts to in UFA if we can .Maybe we make a deal at that time maybe not.but don't wreck the team with a big change unless it's necessary. This is another win now year.
Since Sather hasn't blown up last season's team yet, this is so far pretty great, even though we lost a superb 4th liner in Boyle.Thats about it.The center and scoring issues have to be addressed but this is basically the same team and we have time.Have to sign all our RFA's and Carcillo. Then we're back in deep again, hopefully

@IhateGaborik @GetTheKingACup Nash has to play well next year.If he does that and plays well in the playoffs if we get there, he's out of the doghouse.
@GiveGartneraCup I have thought Girardi way overrated for a long time.Should have let him go, it was a big big mistake to give him a NMC for 3 years.
Haven't seen Tanner Glass play, but he's not likely to be as good a fourth liner as Brian Boyle, and some are whinging about what a crappy player he is, so the three year deal is worrisome.I would still like to see Carcillo back on that line.
We are needing our forward prospects to bring it this year at this point. It's not a sure thing, but it is possible they can.
