To be fair, Paco seems to have refined his mechanics this season (thus far, that is) and Baez could have still been developing.

Yimi Garcia, though; there's no good explanation for that one.

Yeah, that would make sense. I seem to remember his velocity being surprising in the freeway series too, though.

SSS, of course.

Has Liberatore had an uptick in velocity since being acquired by the Dodgers?

When we acquired him, I don't remember him sitting at 93-94 with the four seamer.

@PagansOedipalComplex Difference between zero dollars and thirty one and a half million dollars is astronomical compared to the extra cash Dodgers were offering. I mean, all it takes is some stupid fluke injury before July 2nd and he could have lost it all. Risk aversion was worth the $3.5MM dollars to him, apparently.

@ih8turteam I wanted the dude to get a chance with us, but it seems like a trade has been inevitable ever since his ear got bitten off. First Dee exploded on the scene, then the Howie trade, and now we've got Turner, Olivera (at some point), Kike', Barney, and hell, even Austin Barnes as 2B depth. And of course, the OF is stacked too.

@TellMyWifeISaid Neither one of those. Attempt to resign him on a team friendly-ish deal, then QO him and let him walk when they realize he's out of their range.

That'd be my guess, anyway.

Another added benefit: you can use Zenmate to access Netflix libraries from other countries, which differ from the US Netflix library.

@Casey the DeliMan @Iron Man Returns I think they'd be better off letting him try and pitch. Can't imagine he has any value right now whatsoever as a 36 year old coming off major injury, who also happens to have a MAJOR ($12.5M) buyout for '16.

The buyout assumes he can get through 200 IP in '15, but it still isn't pretty.

@Pimparoo (The Ghetto Wilt Chamberlain) I think the Dodgers made a trade that they feel makes them better going forward. Whether it helps the Padres or not seemed pretty inconsequential.

Also: hella talent; Kendrick's floor is ridiculously higher than Dee's. Also, JRoll, despite his age, has been in the lineup way more often than Hanley in recent seasons.

3 months ago on How Old Is Too Old For the Dodgers Infield?

Reply

This also ignores the fact that three of our INFers are free agents after this year. I mean, sure, if JRoll and Uribe were still under contract for another year or two after this season, it'd be a huge concern. They're not though, and combining that factor with our depth (Kike, Barnes, Turner) as well as having Seager progressing, I'm not all that concerned.

He hasn't shown basically ANY signs of aging. At least, not yet anyway. He's averaged 155 games over the past three seasons, too. Don't think I'd go past a fat one year deal, though.

@DKD That's true in some cases, yeah. There's also instances where, late in a game, a number eight hitter might be pitched around and the pitcher's spot is then pinch-hit for, which creates a much higher scoring opportunity.

@DBrim Yeah, it'd be nice if those guidelines were followed to the tee every single time, I agree. I'd feel better about it if the Padres source simply said that there were concerns about Kemp passing the physical, as opposed to being specific about what frightened them.
