Unless Ventura becomes [some short hispanic pitcher who throws hard inviting to be called Pedro Martinez] I don't know how the Royals replicate this

@Omer (beercoozie) @Lobo @P_F_P but Alabama surely wins with Lane Kiffin

@Omer (beercoozie) has 3 of the top 10 relievers in the AL, uses Yordano Ventura (pitched Saturday) in the 6th inning with 2 men on base

@FantasticFlex it's not like they had any other options, dude

because if you bring in Herrera, who pitches the 7th?

if you put Davis there, who pitches the 8th?

if you put Holland there, who closes?

c'mon, dude

@InsideThePark not really, Shields got Schmidtitis early in his career, and is going to be 34 next season

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @PagansOedipalComplex @InsideThePark how about getting 3 excellent seasons from Scherzer, 2 good ones, and don't care the last 2 seasons from Scherzer than pray that a pitcher who already blew out his shoulder early in his career and is working on 1800 innings in the past 8 seasons to provide you with 400 really good innings, and then 2-3 likely terrible ones?

3 hours, 45 minutes ago on American League Wild Card: A’s @ Royals

@MattinglysSombrero @InsideThePark the draft pick isn't as important this season

but if you're giving it up, might as well get Scherzer

@InsideThePark well... nope

but I hope this is a situation where they follow through with the "no contracts to players where the deal runs over age 36"

Then again, I would like to believe that Mattingly would have Wade Davis go 1.1 innings to the 7th, Herrera the 8th, Holland the 9th but it probably wouldn't have happened, but Yost is so much worse in other areas like lineup construction, bunting (!!)

3 hours, 52 minutes ago on American League Wild Card: A’s @ Royals

Reply

@Tymathee Donnie has gotten way better at lineups, and is nowhere near as bad at bullpen managing compared to Yost

Donnie doesn't bat Juan Uribe second luckily

@exceedingly boring potato @PagansOedipalComplex @InsideThePark I initially thought he could he had on a 3-4 year deal, but I realized that's nearly impossilbe. he's pretty good, and won't take a 6-7 year deal, but he'll get like a 5 year deal and everybody will hate it

I like this because the Royals would get swept out by the Angels, the ALDS is going to be competitive, and dammit it makes me appreciate slightly that Ned Yost isn't our manager

@CaseyTheDeliMan @exceedingly boring potato you think a reliever who has given up 22 runs in 32 innings is above Chris Perez who hasn't given up an earned run since he came off the DL?

(I'm not stating what should happen, only what will happen)

@exceedingly boring potato @PagansOedipalComplex people actually believe Crawford is a regular because of 64 PA's versus lefties this season

/waits for somebody to cite that they wished Wainwright was a left handed pitcher because Crawford hits lefties significantly better than righties
