@MicahStephenson  @LyleGraversen I agree with you Micah. Poe will get the snaps even if he doesn't live up to his potential in that 1st season because the competition just isn't that stiff. I think he'll play well, though. RAC has had a good eye for d talent so far; I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

@LyleGraversen You might be right about Bowe. Pioli is a smart man, whether you like him or not. He likes insurance: Boss for Moeaki, Hillis for JC, Baldwin for Bowe, the rook Olineman for Lilja and Albert...

I think Baldwin is meant to be a potential Bowe replacement in the same way Stephenson is for Albert. Pioli isn't giving up on the current starters, he just wants to make sure he has someone if he can't sign those guys to LT deals.

So, yes, you might be right that a deal doesn't get done and we let Bowe walk (and sign Brees with the $? :) ). But I think he'll get a LT deal done.

Okay, here goes:

1) Lewis will lead KC in interceptions. He's a ball hawk and with Berry in the lineup, he can do more of that.

2) Poe will start and play well. Not supplanted by Gordon.

3) Won't argue.

4) God I hope not, but I can see this, Big Matt's nightmare, coming to pass.

5) Pioli signs Bowe to L-T deal before mid-season. Baldwin might play well enough, but won't let Bowe walk.

6) Matt Cassell will have his best season in KC but won't silence his critics. He will do the things he does well but will also be consistently poor at the things he does poorly. The players around him and his OC, however, will create the opportunity for him to play to his strengths and succeed.

I'm hopeful for ST. We have good depth position-wise (Siler, Brown, Wylie as potential contributor...) and I believe StL's ST was pretty good last season. So glad to see Hoffman gone (and to the Raiders no less...even sweeter!).

Great to hear. Even if the McCoy thing did happen (and I also what the expletive CLE was doing drafting him), people can grow. Let's keep the good mojo rolling.

OMG. I don't know if he'll ever be anything in the NFL, but I have my favorite to win the Zorn trash can drill.

Can't say I agree with him on the JC fantasy discussion. Even if it is a 50/50 split, which could happen, Charles has a tendency to find the end zone with the carries he's given.

@Drew3774 All the more reason to move up and get Cassel's successor. Just because we get a QB 1st round doesn't mean Cassel is gone. He does well, the team clicks, no need to mess with the chemistry. And if the team does well, it means our perception of few holes is accurate and they can make a move in the 1st round. He becomes the backup for a year or two and either replaces Cassel at that point or is trade bait. Good investment. This all assumes none of the other QBs on the roster wow.

@MicahStephenson  @KcNdaRock I don't think Bowe will be an FA; I think he'll get a l-t deal this year. If not, perhaps we let him go and have Baldwin step in. As for the rest, there are younger guys who could step in after a year for all the others except Belcher, and ILB should be a priority next draft.

@KC MikeG  @KenKeizer I think it's because he has been fairly consistent with certain areas whether he's been successful or not.

Upside: he can be very good not turning the ball over; when he has talent around him, he can make plays; he plays with passion, will give you everything he has on every play. He's a good QB.

Downside: he's never been a GREAT QB. He has trouble getting the ball to his 2nd or 3rd receiver; when pressured, he does not always make great decisions; he has had problems with accuracy on his  long ball; I haven't seen him do a great job reading Ds and audibling.

I think KC will have a very good, potentially great season and I think Cassel will help with that. And frankly, I think he'll do better than Orton would have given this team's make up. But I also think he is who he is, and he'll never be a Brady/Manning/Brees/etc. top tier QB.

No matter what happens this season, I want a QB first round next year (as long as we're not reaching). If NT was one of the few positions of need for us, QB will be that next year. Even if Cassel does great. We will at least need a QB to groom for a year or two (since I think the odds of Cassel AND Stanzi shining are low).

I think he can keep it up, yes. A whole offseason with an OC who, as far as we can tell, is not skipping any meds and this kid should have a good season. It's what I expected of him last season before his injury and Haley's lunacy.

Hey Crocker, great analysis. He's an easy man to hate with the secrecy but that doesn't mean he should be hated or is not a good GM. He won points with me when he told on of the writers here (DD?) "Like I would tell you" when asked if he was going to sign LeRon last offseason.

Question: you write the Orton deal has a remote chance of landing KC a QB. Do you mean by getting a compensatory pick in next year's draft if he gets playing time in Dal?

Keep up the great work.

I think Breaston because of comfort level with Cassel. Matt has shown he's slow to warm up to new targets, and given his inability to go through his progressions, it will probably take the better part of the season for Baldwin to develop the rapport with MC.

Good stuff. I tend to disagree with you on #4, though. I think we'll have a good indication as to whether or not Poe will live up to his potential this year. If he's mediocre this year, it doesn't mean he'll be a bust, but if he is going to live up to the potential he has given his physical traits, we should see more than an middle of the road rotational player this year.

If you're 2nd year 3rd stringer gets any attention from another team member, that to me is a good sign. Maybe Stanzi has something he'll show somewhere along the way.

Sign Colquitt and Bowe mid-season.

I'm not sure if we have a franchise worthy talent on the list beyond Bowe. If he steps it up, maybe Albert. If not, resign him anyway unless we're loving Stephenson. LT is too important to mess around with.

Resign the LS.

Try to resign Belcher and Dorsey, but if someone else is willing to give them crazy money, so be it. TJax either lives up to the money, restructures again or is gone. We have Dline depth now, and ILB should be a top draft pick in 2013.

See what you have with Hillis and Siler. We probably let Siler go unless we can get him for a deal or we let Belcher go. Both are likely not on the team next year. Maybe resign Hillis; if not, perhaps Gray is able to step up.

If Stanzi isn't ready, try to keep Quinn. Let Stanzi go and draft a QB (1st round?).

We can let go (replace with): Lilja (Allen), Washington (S from Ala), Horne (kid from Mich), O'Connell (anyone...Maneri?), Dbacks (got the kid from CO, 2013 draft...3rd round? and FA).

I think the Rams' ST coach saw this coming, skipped town to KC before TRich could get in a Rams uniform and push him around, the way he can't seem to with DEs.

@KC MikeG I agree. I think Cassel has a better upside, especially with the talent on this KC roster. Orton is who he is; a good QB who makes bad decisions at inopportune times. That doesn't seem to change. Cassel has proven he can be VERY good about not turning the ball over. A better QB for this running attack and loaded WR corps, imo.

And the guy from Yahoo sports???WTF is HE smoking? Even the mass of talking heads who don't really care or follow the Chiefs much feel that Pioli has put together a great roster...3rd worst in football would have them poised for a 4 win season at best. Wow. I know I'm biased, but that's a hard one to figure.
