Cap hit is high, but salary cap will definitely go up the next few years. As for next year, buying out Richards and dumping Pouliot, Pyatt, Powe, Asham, and possibly Boyle leaves us in a good spot to add some better depth to the lineup. Not to mention losing DZ via trade and Girardi most likely, this should all work itself out.
Key players to bring back are Stralman (the most underrated defenseman on our team) J Moore and Callahan. If Sather can make a deal work with Girardi gotta bring him back in the fold as well.

@mlsranger Obviously every backup wants to start but would be nice if we can keep Cam as a backup after his contract expires. He's obviously going to demand more, but maybe he would be fine in this role with this organization?

@KreiderisTheChosenOne if he scored at the end there we could be watching some OT right now. Open net and everything, doesn't get much easier

@KreiderisTheChosenOne If we cant beat the lowly sabres, this team is hopeless
@KreiderisTheChosenOne @ATCRyan I agree Talbot shit the bed tonight. Not so sure Hank would've had a different result though. It was a very sloppy game by our guys, bad turnovers and whatnot.
Honestly the goalies aren't the problem, its the inconsistency of the team in front of them. One game they're superstars the next they look like pee wee hockey players
@KreiderisTheChosenOne You're assuming Talbot folds under the pressure, just like you assume Lundqvist is our ticket to a Stanley Cup. I said it yesterday and I'll say it again, IF Talbot is able maintain this level of play Lundqvist becomes expendable.
Teams have won championships with a "subpar" goalie, most recently Chicago comes to mind. Crawford is a decent goaltender but nothing special. Just like Niemi wasn't anything special when they won a few years ago. I'm interested in the best lineup possible, even if that means parting ways with the King.

@Rangeranger 12M including the Richards buyout...

Its hard to turn your back on the goaltender who has kept the Rangers competitive the past decade; however, other than an ECF appearance where has Hank lead us? As NYR fans we tend to think with our hearts, not our heads. IF Talbot is able to continue to perform at this level Hank quickly becomes expendable. Again that is a big IF, but this being a business and all do we really want 1 player crippling the team cap wise for the next 8 years? I dont know about anyone else out there but I'd like to see more than 1 Stanley cup championship in my lifetime.
Starting to think the "new msg" is cursed. Rangers and Knicks both having miserable years.

@KreiderisTheChosenOne idk about that. especially after the softies hes been giving up lately.
Games against the Bruins are definitely a measuring stick for us. Time for these guys to look in the mirror and realize they need to be better if they ever want to match up against the "elite" teams of the NHL
Reality is we are nothing better than a .500 team with the current team we have
how the fuck do they blow the play dead when we are possessing the puck?!
@JMK8363 as every game goes on im glad sather didn't give him the contract he wanted
@iwantgaborik probably pretty accurate. glad they blew up the whole team after the ecf appearance.
too late now but bruins had too many men on the ice for that goal
@NYR44 based on what we've seen it doesn't appear AV believes in timeouts
@KreiderisTheChosenOne think his shoulder is messed up still... he wont take the body anymore
knew that was comng...
