This is a pretty good read, well done. At the time I was a strong proponent of moving Anderson while his value was through the roof but who knows what might have come back.

Look, the guy may not possess the necessary verbal restraint but the way the city handled this casino bid is a complete boondoggle. People should be equally if not more upset with the sole sourcing and inconsistent parameters set by council. I believe there is legal recourse for Melnyk and he should take it. Citizens of Ottawa should be more upset about how this project was handled as it was was certainly political pressures informing the decision.

I have a feeling Alfredsson wanted to go to a team where here was no longer expected to shoulder the leadership responsibilities and be the go-to guy for the team. Lets face it, when you hare in the spotlight for years and years, it may be beneficial for him to just play the game without all of the responsibility. This could be a factor in his decision as well, one which many people do not talk about.

I'm not quite sure of your point here. Are you implying that if Daugavins was in the lineup, the sens would have won? Are you implying that Murray should have acquired a high caliber impact player instead? regardless you sample is totally biased, as is your metrics for calculating the value of the trade.

I'm not a huge Kassian fan but your hate for him is a little much. This type of kneejerk opportunism to critique a players worth belongs on a lesser site for simplistic fans, not on this one. Its like HFboards meets the SUN.

While I think Anderson could fetch quite a substantial rebuilding piece and a Lehner/Bishop tandem could carry the team no problem, I would be SHOCKED if BM moved Anderson. From his comments its seems like he is just going to move Bishop. A little disappointing really because, as with Michalek, BM will be failing to capitalize on a short term peak valued asset.

I agree. The guy is a total liability and should have been traded after his 35 goal season. He will never produce like that again. NEVER.

People regularly point to Boston as a team with physicality throughout their roster. While this is true, many overlook the fact that they have shitty old Shawn Thornton whose sole existence is to throw bombs. While I would prefer to have acquired a highly skilled physical player, I won’t hate on the goon.

@Nichols6thSens That's the exact reason I don't see why management doesn't give him another go. Other players who have had a bad season because of injury (regin) or otherwise have been given multiple opportunities. Its not like butler has been a total dud the whole time. His first 36 games were pretty good for a rookie. The cash savings is negligible. Maybe no one liked the guy but I remain unconvinced that this move is a good one.

I find it interesting that management is so hesitant to give the Daug a one year- one way after he played most of the season with the big club. JOB comes along and plays a few games and they give him a two year. For the record we can rest assured that JOBs ceiling will be higher but still it is a noodle scratcher.

It would be fucking stupid to move either of those goaltenders. Ride it out this year with Lehner in the AHL and Bishop as backup then trade Anderson next year opening the door for both of these guys to compete for #1.They are both really good young goaltenders and, in my professional estimation, could run with the big dogs.

@Nichols6thSens  @Danny64 I myself have always though of Nick Foligno as a 3rd liner. In previous years, under Cloustons mentorship,  he was given opportunities to play in the top 6 and never really seemed to develop. I would find myself questioning why he was given so many chances. This year, I found myself questioning why he wasn't given more chances. His point totals are not only higher but his whole style of play has changed. He is much more aggressive, physical, in your face and a huge asshole. Although his Goaltender interference is up, its nice to see him involved. Can Nick foligno become a regular second liner? After seeing his evolution this year I would say its possible.

@Nichols6thSens That's exactly what I'm saying. The "Weber Smash" was a brutal example of targeting an opponents head with an intent to injure. It was even at the end of the game! That is a perfect example of the league not taking head hits seriously enough. I don't care if he is a Norris candidate he should be suspended. If Weber knew he was going to get ousted for 3 or 4 games, he wouldn't have done it. Players know they can get away with that B.S. I'm all for physicality and people will accidentally get injured but all the aforementioned incidents were not accidental. It is these incidents the league needs to really punish.

2 years, 5 months ago on Per MSG Networks: Shanahan To Reconsider Hagelin Suspension? | April

People are acting like they just banned their star center for the series! I for one am fully supportive of the suspension even though all the mouth-breathers are against it. The league needs to bring the hammer down on hits to the head. If they were serious about stopping them they would dispense 5-10-15 game suspensions for blatantly targeting the head of an opponent. Until they start doing this, its going to continue. A 2500 dollar fine or a one game suspension is nothing. If players were getting serious penalties for intentional head hits, there wouldn't be any. The refs also need to start clamping down on all the bullshit. If they had dealt with the Boyle incident properly, there would be no need for vigilante justice. The League needs to stop fucking around and stop the dangerous bullshit
