Maria played great to avoid being routined, so kudos to her! no shame losing 16 straight times to an all time great!
Serena is just a bad match up for Maria in so many levels!

great stuff!!!! so long as he's healthy and motivated he can compete with the best of them, 33 nowadays isn't that old in tennis years; look at Federer, Ferrer, etc, fitness and motivation & love for the game are key to longevity!

"... with Serena the disappointment of losing cuts deeper; it goes against the natural order of the universe ..."
That's Serena in a nutshell, righting the wrongs is what motivates her!! She NEVER forgets her losses ...

Serena is just a bad match up for Sharapova's one dimensional game - which is hit hard corner to corner!

I blame Serena & Caro for starting this friendliness on the tour, now all the pre & post match jabs, snipping, drama and excitement among players is gonna die down.

Berdych's playing inspired tennis I wouldn't get surprised he beats Rafa!
past records don't matter, every match is a new match ;) ...who knew Seppi who was previously 0-10 against Roger would blitz him?!?

@Gimmethajeans "aesthetically pleasing tennis"???? too bad she isn't a hot ticket or big draw during tourneys, just doesn't have the personality/swag to go along with her game!

@et316rapier thank you for asking a good question, took the words right out of my mouth.
...Fresh off #Twirlgate it's just really annoying when men talk about what women should wear because i've never heard any woman doing the same.

@jamesh71955 Gotta agree Roger was outplayed but still was the tactically smarter player throughout the contest! After losing the 1st set, Raonic developed the "I have nothing 2 lose mentality," threw all the chips in & went for his shots. But as we know, in tight matches great players always stay calm and zone in when it most matters, and Roger did just that, cornered Raonic with several of his off pace BH slice shots to break for the win.
Djokovic's charity to going a great job of creating opportunities for underprivileged children in Serbia. Serbia still undergoing post-war reconstruction is experiencing high poverty levels.
So Djokovic's living an affluent lifestyle surrounded by all these poor people, he and his family automatically becomes an interest of criminal gangs which are common in Serbia. He has to be careful because there could be kidnapping of family members for ransom as it does often happen to athletes and their families in Columbia and the Dominican Republic

Raonic who, Kei who, Grigor who, Coric who, Kyrgios who?
The big dogs are still ruling the penthouse; Novak, Roger, Murray, Nadal, Ferrer, Wawrinka will continue their domination through 2016 #boldprediction
She's beautiful, talented, rich & gracious. I love her outspokeness and leadership in the Player Council, she's not a flip flopper and does relate very well to the rest of the players.
I remember she came to the rescue of an Israeli player who was denied a visa to a tournament in an Arab country, and she succeeded! #class

@Patrick of La Verne I couldn't agree more with the weight of expectations placed on her, she has immense talent & skill set, she has a complete game than can excel on every surface, that's how great she is.
Of all the active grand slam winners, only Venus has won more than 10+ against Serena, not even her contemporaries & fierce rivals (Hingis, Henin, Capriati, Davenport, Mauresmo, Dementieva, Jankovic, etc) could win more than seven matches

@Sherry D This this this!!!! She became all time great and entered the conversation of GOAT when she tied Chrissy & Martina, now I expect her to really relax and have fun whether win or lose!
Arguably the Greatest woman athlete tennis has ever seen, she likes winning trophies and hates to lose, that's pretty much her motivation to stay fit and healthy and hungry. Once that hunger is gone, she will call it quits, I believe that time will come after Rio 2016
@saloabad "Maria is her own toughest opponent"???? Lol NOOO!!! Wozniacki and Azarenka are a big threat to her on hard courts; Petra on grass, Halep on clay, and of course the most laughable H2H of all time, can't win against Serena. So how exactly is she her own enemy? lol
2 months ago on Conversation @ http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2014/12/2015-preview-wta-no-11-ekaterina-makarova/53469/

@ChelsChelsia @Davineaux89 @pyro21 Dokic, Safina, Vaidisova, Robson, were all young talented & promising players, being young is never an advantage in sports, anything can happen to derail a career!
Halep has failed when it matters due to either injury as at Wimbledon, or just lack of mental fortitude as against Maria, Serena, Lucic, etc
@pyro21 @Davineaux89 What you're suggesting is that Serena and Maria have more inconsistencies that Simona? lol just because Simona had a breakout year in 2014 doesn't mean she's gonna automatically repeat the feat. Remember she was the hunter in 2014 and in 2015 will be the hunted, mark my words!!
@Patrick of La Verne Serena is just too clinical in the top 10, therefore should be put out together with the scrubs (11-100), that's where she has most trouble ... ...
Exceptional achievement pal, congrats!!!! This invention will go a long way in helping rural medical establishments better assist patients. Hopefully the cost of the cardiopad will be downgraded soon!

1 year, 4 months ago on WTA China Open Final: Serena Williams vs Jelena Jankovic Preview
@jlang Nobody cares about your opinion, you're hiding behind a computer we don't know who you are - whether you're a pedophile, rapist, thief, terrorist. All we care about is that the women's final had over 19 million tv viewers way higher than the men because of the SERENA FACTOR great for the game. You and your family and pets can hate on Serena but the number of viewers and celebrities at Serena matches have spoken, so bye bye bitter ass hater.
Federer has GRACE!!! OH plse!! Wasn't Federer the one who admitted to smashing 40+ rackets because of anger issues, wasn't Federer that one who yelled 'shut up' at the Djokovic camp during the 2012 French Open, wasn't Federer the one who told an umpire to 'fuck off' during his loss to Delpotro at USO09 and was fined, wasn't the same Federer who this January yelled 'fuck you' at Andy Murray 3 times during their AO semi final match????
The problem with you haters is that you claim not to watch Serena matches, but your very own posts suggest you actually watch her matches, read articles about her etc that's what we call OBSESSED, PRESSED, JEALOUS, ETC
1 year, 5 months ago on Conversation @ http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2013/09/techniques-and-tactics-serena/49234/
@sandra jones Agree! Vika occasionally gets wins in the small tournaments while Serena wins in the slams, that's exactly what Serena did to Dementieva. Bothe Vika and Dementieva are very athletic, can keep up with Serena but both have NO SERVE!
@Dan You're mixing apples and oranges. Men are naturally and physically stronger than women which has got nothing to do with athleticism!
@Northernboy Great observation about Serena's plan B. Her mental toughness and ability to switch to plan B when nothing else is working is noticeable in her many wins in very close 3 setters in slams.
We are watching and witnessing greatness & history ...utter mastery of a sport by a gifted athlete. They come once in a generation, enjoy while it lasts. The next great player will be different but won't be unique and exceptional like SERENA. Only Margaret Court, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Chrissie Evert, and Serena Williams have played over 30+ years and won slams ...if Serena stays highly motivated and healthy, expect her to play 'til 35 yrs old i.e. 2016 and til then she will have a chance of winning 6/16 slams which will be played between 2014-1016.
Court retired at 35, Martina at 50, and Graf at 30 :) ...their longevity and endurance is built in their athleticism, not many current tennis players are gifted supreme athletes.
A Caucasian journalist posting this picture of a black woman athlete to narrate his story ....really? Of all the thousands of Serena pics during the USO, is this what you got? Your agenda is clear; attract racists and haters so they can analyze and insult Serena's body parts. Pathetic!!!!!!!!!

@Jetson You really think Americans care about Nadal or Djokovic? lol it's always been about Federer and the Williams sisters.
@Justsayn @aussiemarg White journalists and photographers always want to tell a story based on what they see as conforming to Caucasian culture, little do they know that 3 quarters of the earth's population that watches sports IS NOT WHITE!
@RichSimmons no body cares about Federer at this stage of his career ...tennis now is all about the top dogs in both women and men's tours. Goodbye Federer!!
This article is great, A PICTURE IS WORTH A YJOUSAND WORDS!!!! Always
tend to click on a sports headline story which is accompanied by a GREAT

I'VE NEVER BEEN A FAN OF RAONIC AND NOW I REALLY HATE HIM FOR BLATANTLY CHEATING DELPOTRO ...RAONIC WITH HIS GAMESMANSHIP WASN'T MAN ENOUGH TO ADMIT HE BROKE THE RULE BUT BECAUSE HE WANTED TO WIN SO BAD IN FRONT OF A HOME CROWD HE RESORTED TO CHEATING #KARMA IS A BITCH MR SHRIEK FACE
1 year, 6 months ago on tennis.com - Montreal: Raonic d. del Potro
IMO "Wimblegeddon" opened Serena's eyes & further upped her motivation, she was clearly very bitter after that loss to Lisicki (winnable match which she beat herself at it), expect her to seek more fitness, match play & consistency leading to the USO. Serena will occasionally have her off days but its pretty hard to beat her when she's on, so I say Serena for the Rogers Cup!
1 year, 7 months ago on tennis.com - Picking Up the Pieces
There's no brand new information here; Serena whether ranked #1 or 20, etc has always been a favorite entering every tournament, dunno what Azarenka is talking about. Of course match play and form is important to prepare for the slams, so if Azarenka skips such important events like the Rogers Cup she denies to test herself against in form players like Serena.
1 year, 7 months ago on tennis.com - Azarenka pulls out of Toronto, says Serena is U.S. Open favorite
"Radical change" ?!?! you mean like grass roots revolution lmaoo she's suggesting she lacks fundamentals of the game lol Ivanovic is a brainless ball basher, she needs to learn to be patient, keep the ball between the lines & wait for opportunities ...watching her is a nightmare, I've seen her former coach face palm at every match, she has herself to blame not anybody. IMO A NEW COACH WILL CHANGE NOTHING
1 year, 7 months ago on tennis.com - Ivanovic on coaching split: I needed a radical change
Hingis shouldv'e stayed when she made that 2nd comeback, a 3rd comeback is NEVERRRR easy lol ask Michael Jordan. The women's game is now too physical for Hingis, she can use her trickery like she once did but will eventually be hit off the court, she's just not athletic enough!
1 year, 7 months ago on tennis.com - Davenport: Hingis planning singles return
Nowadays It's very rare that SERENA loses sets let alone matches, but some of her retarded fans will still bitch even if she wins 6-0 6-0. Serena is human so show respect for her competition. every player is out there to fight and not get humiliated
