Way too early in the season to start picking apart any team!
9 months, 1 week ago on SportVU for you: Spurs vs. Thunder
Way too early in the season to start grading players in my opinion. Would like to see a little more defense but I'm sure that will come!

Just have to wait and see if his "game" is as big as his mouth!
10 months, 2 weeks ago on DeJuan Blair says Spurs had Finals won, not him
Maybe we keep him and ship DeColo somewhere for something or keep him in Austin to bring up in case of an injury!

Not going to hurt him to play in France. He can learn...Spurs can watch!
1 year ago on Deshaun Thomas, Nanterre team photo
OK, he's gone! Don't care what he thinks about the Spurs! Don't care what he thinks he'll do to the Spurs this coming season! He's on the Mavs roster now - Let them write articles about him!
1 year ago on DeJuan Blair feels Spurs didn't believe in him
He's gone...he ran his mouth a little...doesn't matter!
1 year ago on DeJuan Blair takes swipe at Spurs during press conference
A year overseas won't hurt and it will give the FO a chance to see his development (if any) and decide if he fits in the Spurs future or not!
1 year ago on A few details on Deshaun Thomas landing in France
I believe he can be a solid big man off the bench, Can come in when Splitter needs to sit and we won;t lose anything, Can be the "enforcer" when needed!
1 year ago on Baynes: It's about complementing what's in place with Spurs
If Mills remains with the Spurs he might gice Joseph a run for the backup PG spot. I've heard some rumors that he might be headed to the 76'ers to be Brown's PG on a trade deal.
1 year ago on Patty Mills stars in Oceania series Game One victory for Australian Boomers
I hope that he shows a little improvement and consistency. I believe he will stay a Spur for the long haul and that he and Leonard will be part of the future!

Why? I think we have back up PG's who are as good as him. Not to change the subject but, did anyone else see the article where Oden will continue his rehab and MIGHT be ready to play by December if he doesn't have any setbacks!
1 year ago on Spurs had interest in Beno Udrih?
I'm going to wait and see how his knee holds up playing against tougher competition and playing multiple games in a week before I make a guess as to what kind of a difference he might make as a Spur.
1 year ago on Adam Hanga inks 4-year deal with Spanish club Baskonia
I guess if he had signed with the Spurs I could have been optimistic but I would rather have a decent backup to Leonard.

Nothing suprising here!
1 year, 1 month ago on Report: Oden spurns Spurs, signs two-year deal with Miami
I would rather see a sign and trade deal for Blair. Take anything the Spurs can get in return and see if whoever we get can make the roster in training camp, put another player in Austin for later, or take the rights to another Euro stash for later. Don't know if there is anything like these choices available or not!
1 year, 1 month ago on Report: Blair signing with Mavs not a done deal
@jpap967 @TomArmstrong Maybe so!
1 year, 1 month ago on Stein: Mavericks close to signing DeJuan Blair
I don't see him as a bust. Gave the Spurs some good minutes. Neal gave the Spurs some good minutes. Jackson gave the Spurs some good minutes. I guess its just the way the business goes.
I don't see him getting a lot more minutes with the Mavs than he did with the Spurs and certainly did not get a big raise but so long...best wishes!
He's good but "the" best?
1 year, 1 month ago on Derrick Rose Declares Himself to be NBA’s Best Player
I wonder if some sort of a sign and trade deal sending Blair to the Wizards for Jan Vesely. Vesely is 6' 11", 240 lbs and 23 years old. Hasn't shown much but had a fairly good summer league.Might be able to work into something in the Spurs organization. Any thoughts?
1 year, 1 month ago on Blair eyeing Wizards
I'll apologize for that last comment. You don't know me and I don't know you wo I guess we can agree to disagree!
1 year, 1 month ago on Buford discusses Thomas and possibility of earning 15th roster spot
@RodneyDeLaCruz @TomArmstrong I don't get in to arguments with unarmed men!
@RodneyDeLaCruz Maybe you should call the FO and ask RC for a job since you "Claim" to be the expert here!
I don't see Nando as a starting PG, SG or 6th man. Maybe not even the best second unit guy. I also don't see Baynes as the replacement for a retiring Timmy in a couple of years. We've got Splitter but still need a dominant big on the other side. If a proven center (maybe a backup from another team) can be obtained with a sign and trade for Blair and using Nando (and/or), Baynes as sweeteners...I'd pull the trigger on it...but the Spurs have yet to hire me into a decision making position and I doubt they will!
1 year, 1 month ago on Spurs experimenting with Nando De Colo at shooting guard
Maybe DeColo is being showcased as bait for a possible trade!
22 years old...7 ft...230 lbs. If he does anything in the summer league (like Leonard did)...keep him around. Atleast in Austin. Let him learn the system. Beef up a little.

The Stern "dictatorship" is coming to an end. Hopefully Adam Silver will be an improvement.
1 year, 2 months ago on Stern on why Spurs have not clicked with America
Role players who can atleast hold a lead or not allow the opponent to make their own big run are needed. Even when other teams went "small", we were still smaller. Blair (I know he's leaving) just too small, Splitter's euro style of offense and complete lack of defense, I believe, hurt us. McGrady didn't even get a shot. Bonner showed a little improvement on defense and in rebounding, but got limited minutes. Neal is a streaky shooter but plays no defense. Mills injury kept him out in the latter games. Green and Manu had a tendency to try to help on defense and left their man too often.
For my money (which doesn't mean anything), we could use Neal and Bonner in a trade scenario. If the plan is to make Joseph the backup PG then maybe Mills could go in a trade also. Baynes shows a lot in summer league play (like Leonard did) or perhaps he goes too.
Rebuilding is going to happen sooner or later...why not do it with TD and TP still around. Manu retires as a Spur...plays limited minutes...but serves as a mentor for whoever we pick up. Not looking for a "superstar"...just some decent all around talent that is not completely "one dimensionsal".
I know I'm dreaming and I know a lot of folks will disagree...keep in mine - these are my opinions only and I don't expect the front office to call me anytime soon!
1 year, 2 months ago on A Step Forward or Same Story?
Blair leaves. McGrady retires. Baynes plays summer league and gets better like Leonard did. Somebody offers Splitter money and he leaves or goes back to eoroleague. Neal leaves for more money. Manu takes less money and remains a Spur (primarily as a mentor). Diaw and Mills hang around although Mills might be included in a deal. Bonner makes up part of a deal in a trade. DeColo also goes in a trade because he wants more playing time. Joseph becomes "the" backup PG. Green spends his summer working on his ballhandling and passing skills. Duncan returns. Leonard's team option gets picked up without question. Overseas stashes all show up for summer league play with the knowledge that they can all be signed or traded...how they do decides the question. Spurs move up in the draft by some of the trades mentioned earlier. Just my guesses...last time I checked the FO was not asking for my advice! The only thing I know for sure id that I have been a Spurs fan since the franchise arrived in SA and I remain a Spurs fan!
1 year, 2 months ago on A look at the Spurs salary situation heading into next season
Splitter throws the ball into the backcourt on the opening tip! I think his head was not in the game but obviously up his you know what. I keep reading articles about how he will demand more money and that the Spurs will have to pay him. I'm not sure he's worth paying more. He lacks court vision...his up and under move worked well in the Euro league but NBA defenders figured it out quickly. He can pass but I don't think he is an "all-around" center that the Spurs need. There just might be better alternatives!
1 year, 2 months ago on Small is big for Wade, Heat in Game 4 win
@UsernameAlvin I'm not denying that Manu was the "story". I completely agree with that. Neither am I just pointing out his flaws. In my opinion he is just going through what all atheletes go through after they have played as much as he has. He has been great at every level and I certainly don't want those times to be overlooked. He will be in the Hall of Fame in the future. I have been a Spur fan since day one when they moved the franchise down from Dallas. I enjoyed the "nosebleed" seats in the HemisFair arena.
1 year, 2 months ago on Manu no longer the threat he used to be
Manu has always has a tendency to dribble into a double-team and lose the ball, make a stupid pass, and shoot way too early in the shot clock. None of these things have changed and I doubt they will. He has lost a step and I believe that's to be expected. Does that mean I want him gone...NO! I believe he can still contribute. If the opponents leave him unguarded he can still help as long as he plays smarter and remains a Spur as a mentor to younger players as I believe he has a good basketball IQ. He might just surprise everyone with a "throwback" performance when its needed the most!
Start hard and finish hard. Watch for "cheap shots" from Memphis. McCutchen, Brothers and Zarba as refs tonite.
1 year, 3 months ago on 5 things to watch: Spurs vs. Grizzlies Game 4
@Gospurs2013 @TomArmstrong Are you saying that would be a bad idea or are you saying the refs won't call the fouls?
1 year, 3 months ago on Spurs, Warriors back to square one
Shooting percentages aside. I don't like the physicality the Spurs are playing with. Baynes,Blair,Mills,Joseph,T-Mac,Bonner = 36 fouls. Beat them up...contest all shots to the max...if they get free throws so be it but make them earn everything. Use Mills and Joseph to provide full cout pressure almost from the start. GS plays worse when you worry them!
I think a few minutes letting De Colo knock Curry or Thompson around. Just good clean hard fouls. A couple of free throws is better than let them rain down 3's. Timmy and Tiago in the paint should get some points and get their bigs in foul trouble. Let Blair and Baynes use their 6 fouls on anybody that drives the lane. Knock everybody around some. Make them think about it. Right now their not worried. To quote Pop from last year..."I need a little nasty". Use Joseph and Mills a little and apply full court pressure. Let Diaw throw his weight around. If the refs are going to call fouls anyway...make them count!
1 year, 3 months ago on With the Warriors starting a pair of aces, it's time for Spurs to play their wild card
Well, I thought I'd see some interesting conversations on here about the next round but for the most part I see a bunch of rhetoric about the last round. LA was hurt, undermanned and I believe poorly coached. But the fact is - it doesn't matter...its over with. Regardless of who's next the series should be entertaing and could go either way. Have to wait and watch!
1 year, 4 months ago on Pros and Cons: Facing the Golden State Warriors
Baynes did exactly what we needed him to do. Great job!
1 year, 4 months ago on Parker, Spurs sweep Lakers and advance to second round
Ugly is the only word that comes to mind about this game. Timmy wanted to win but the rest just showed up. Tiago needs to attack the basket and forget his european up and under, baby hook stuff...Bonner cannot play defense (Jamison was his man)...Neal seems to have lost his shot...nobody goes to the boards for oofensive rebounds....teams have figured out how to stop TP's penetration. Manu and Diaw not back...Jack gone....Blair gets minutes ...Baynes doesn't play...Mills doesn't play. The future in the palyoffs will tell if there is any heart left! I'm hoping there is...Go Spurs Go!
1 year, 4 months ago on Road woes continue for Spurs in loss to Lakers
Blair is just too short and too willing to leave the defensive setup. Too bad a trade couldn't be done.
1 year, 4 months ago on Thoughts on DeJuan Blair's likely final weeks in San Antonio
Neal throws up a brick with Jack standing unguarded underneath the basket. Diaw passes up open shots. Bonner couldn't play defense against my Grandmother and shes been dead for forty years. Didn't we sign Baynes to do anything but sit? Neal leaves Conley wide open on the 3 poit line in crunch time!
1 year, 5 months ago on Shorthanded Spurs fall to Grizzlies in crunch time
Close game that shouldn't have been close. Officiating was poor. Spurs defensive rotations were poor. Lineup changes were terrible. The decision to pass up an open 3 and drive the lane by Bonner was just plain stupid.
1 year, 5 months ago on Miami Heat 88, San Antonio Spurs 86: Chris Bosh three sinks Spurs
Any team with two bigs and able to guard TP with a bigger player COULD be trouble. Other teams seemed to have figured this out as of late. We get who we get and we trust the system!
1 year, 6 months ago on Do the Spurs want the Lakers in the playoffs?
I agree with the statement by rtesoro440...we need a big defensive person to protect the lane and guard other teams bigs. Too many guards and two "bigs" that are just too small.
1 year, 9 months ago on Three Things Spurs Can Fix In Two Losses To Clippers
Sounds to me like if you voice "your opinion" on the Lakers acquistions or on the Spurs "non-acquisitions", you are immediately chastized by one party or another. I guess thats just good banter back and forth between true fans and those that think they are fans (those only fans when team is winning). Face it folks...None of us are in the FO, none of us are considered a part of the "brain-trust" and none of us will get a call from Pop asking our opinion! Everyone is permitted to have an opinion and to voice it (atleast until the next election). OK...I'm done on my "soapbox". I don't care what the LAL have done or will do...Go Spurs Go!!!!!!!
2 years ago on Can the Spurs compete with the new Lakers? | August
I have to agree about te injury/health issues facing LA. Nash and Howard have bad backs Bryant has had some leg/ankle issues. Some of Gasol's touches will now go to Howard and when the touches go to Gasol...Howard will sulk. I foresee some chemisry issues in LA,but they will be tough. I am still in favor of the Spurs adding a big!
That was the only time I had seen Zeller. Heard some good things, but after what you guys have said...Never mind Zeller...will keep looking although I realize the FO is not going to call me and ask what I think anyway!
