@BiggieSmalls Great question! Excavated materials will be hauled to facilities in New York, New Jersey,
or Pennsylvania for disposal or beneficially reused offsite.

@Clatinqt Yes, you can use your cell phone on our long-distance trains. There may be portions of the trip that have patchy reception, but cell phones are certainly allowed and each seat has its own outlet for charging.

Thank you for your feedback. We have added a confirmation page per your feedback. If you submitted your application before today and were redirected to the homepage of the blog, your submission was successful. If you would like to withdraw your application, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your first and last name and "REMOVE" as the subject so we can delete your application.
Also, to clarify, the terms of the application do not apply to any work the residents produce while on the residency. We are not in the business of publishing, instead we provide the creative and inspirational environment in which these works are created.
Lastly, we have received questions about how we intend to use the writing samples. Our idea at this time would be to potentially use the application to promote the program, which could include featuring residents with an excerpt of their application. This of course would happen through a conversation with the applicant.
Thank you for applying and best of luck!

We want to clarify quickly since we have seen the question arise in several places. We would of course reach out to and have a conversation with any applicant before using their work for promotional purposes.
Thanks for the overwhelming interest, everyone. We're pulling together a formal program now and should have updates soon. Please stay tuned to Twitter and Facebook for updates!

Thanks for catching that for us. With all the excitement about the new locomotives, we made a mistake. We've updated the photo and done some additional digging to tell you more about the equipment featured in it. You'll notice that there's only one coach and several baggage cars. That indicates that the train was likely the Mail Express that Amtrak operated from Springfield, Conn., to Washington, D.C., from 1984 until the 2000s.
What memories do you have of the AEM-7? We'd love to hear them!

With the launch of our new
single-level long distance equipment – the “Viewliner II”, Amtrak is also
launching Amtrak America, a brand that will encompass all that is great
about Amtrak’s long-haul trains, including those with sleeper class service.
Amtrak’s route brands will continue, and this brand will make the conversation
and overall service offerings clear to our customers and stakeholders.
Amtrak America will utilize our Phase Three striping on the
single-level long distance cars as a tribute to our heritage. The first cars
released from production will also carry Amtrak’s heritage logo in honor of our
past. Amtrak’s current logo will return on the standard production cars.
