It sure has been a while since I last left a comment on this site. Haha.

As much as the first round might have ignited a little bit of the rivalry back, I still don't think Dallas is a team the Spurs will have to watch out for next season. Their defense is still terrible, and if Carter's three-pointer doesn't fall in Game 3, I truly believe the Spurs would have eliminated the Mavs in 5.

Water under the bridge. Batum apologized and clearly didn't want to disrespect the Spurs. I mean, a couple of his best pals play for the Spurs (of course, I'm talking about Parker and Diaw). I'm sure they'll remember it next time they play the Trail Blazers and motivate them to win the game, but it shouldn't cause any bad blood.

Tony Allen keeps going up on my "hate" list. You don't hurt TIMMY.

But anyways, like I said before, I think Manu will have a bounce back season and with the first game so far, he's proving me right. And I believe Patty Mills has earned the right to be the back-up point guard for TP for now. I was surprised he wasn't put back in the game (I don't remember him playing in the 2nd half at all) after the 2nd quarter he had.

All in all, good start to the season as usual and I hope TIMMY will be okay. Go Spurs Go!

@JohnAbney He's heading to the Austin Toros to get rehabbed. They needed to sign him first with the Spurs though in order to get him re-assigned there. I saw people had been talking about this before on Pounding the Rock. I don't know how it works, but yeah, that should answer your question.

I also pretty much agree with the Southwest Standings. The Mavs and Pelicans can be interchangeable but either way, I think both will just miss the playoffs as the 10th and 11th seeds.

Interesting that you have the Grizzlies making it back to the WCF.

9 months, 1 week ago on Spurs Season Preview: A look at the Southwest Division

I did have the Warriors winning the division but I kinda changed my mind and put the Clippers back on top. I think they'll be pushing hard for that #1 seed with Doc Rivers at the helm. Still, I won't discredit the Warriors to chase for the division crown.

I agree with everybody else's position in that division. All 3 teams won't make the playoffs (Lakers as the 12th seed, Kings as the 14th seed, and Suns dead last).

@DevinDixen I'm assuming you haven't seen Belinelli play during this preseason (or last season in Chicago). I was there at the preseason game last night and let me tell you, Marco can not only score but he handles the ball better and passes the ball better than Neal. So, like many other Spurs fans have said, Belinelli is an upgrade over Neal. And I also believe Ayres is already an upgrade over Blair because of the height. He played well too last night.

@Mike ProjectSpurs No problem. And you're definitely right. They'll need Westbrook because honestly, I think they lack depth. Who is going to come in and take on the 6th man role now that Kevin Martin is gone? I assume they're hoping Jeremy Lamb will blossom and take on that spot? I have no idea. I did have the Thunder as the #1 seed but now I think they drop a couple of spots behind the Spurs and Clippers.

9 months, 1 week ago on Spurs season preview: Looking at the Northwest Division

No doubt the Thunder will win the division (even with Westbrook out). For me, I feel the Timberwolves will be 2nd in the division (7th overall in the West). I think they'll finally be healthy for a good portion of the season to finally return to the playoffs (although with Budinger out already, I am a little worried). I'm now going back and forth between the Nuggets and Trail Blazers. At first, I had the Nuggets making the playoffs because even with Gallinari out for a little while, they're still pretty deep. Plus, it's tough to play in Denver so they should still have a good home record. But then I look at the Trail Blazers' roster and realized that they're pretty deep too. For now, I'll stick with the Nuggets ahead of the Trail Blazers. And the Jazz, of course, will be last in the division.

I'll be heading to the preseason game tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing how the team plays. Specifically, I can't wait to see Belinelli and Ayres play since they're the new guys on the team.

I'm sure they'll miss Budenholzer and Brown because they were great assistant coaches (I'm sure they'll be decent head coaches with their new teams). But I think Jim Boylen will fit here. He's proven that he's a great assistant coach as well (being with the Rockets during the Olajuwon era and the Yao Ming era and of course being with the Pacers recently). I think Sean Marks will prove to be a good assistant too since he's been here for a while.

Well, with Dirk, Samuel Dalembert, and Brandan Wright playing in front of him (even Shawn Marion sees some time at PF), Blair will probably get more playing time with the Mavs but I'm not sure if it will be that much more than when he was with the Spurs during his time here. I wish him good luck, but unfortunately for him, he joined a team that won't be contending in the playoffs.

For me, the top 6 seeds are locks for the Spurs, Thunder, Clippers, Rockets, Warriors, and Grizzlies. As for the final 2 spots, I feel it will be between the Nuggets, Timberwolves, and the Trail Blazers (maybe the Mavs and Pelicans too). I would pick the Nuggets and T'Wolves as my final 2 teams to make the playoffs.

Okay, this is getting silly now. First, it's Ron Artest, now it's Vlade Divac? No way in hell should the words "Lakers" and "title contenders" be in the same sentence this season. If people want to call them playoff contenders, fine but even then, I still don't think they'll make the playoffs this season.

I expect the Mavs to miss the playoffs again. The top 6 seeds should be locks (Spurs, Thunder, Clippers, Rockets, Warriors, Grizzlies) and I believe the Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Trail Blazers have better teams (when they're healthy, of course). Hell, the Pelicans might be better. The Mavs could easily be last place in the Southwest Division.

I was 6 years old as well and probably didn't know what basketball was at that time, so I had no idea about this shot.

So because of that, I have no problem with Horry selecting it. He made some big shots for us to make up for it. Of course, the most memorable one for me is the Game 5 shot in Detroit in the Finals in OT.

Ron Artest (I still refuse to call him by that ridiculous name) is once again making a fool of himself. This is the same guy who said last year's Lakers could challenge the 72-10 record by the '96 Bulls, and we all know how that turned out. The Lakers' defense is going to be more horrendous with Howard and Artest gone. ESPN has it right, projecting them as a 12th seed. I can't see the Lakers making the playoffs. Ron Artest is delusional.

The only PG I would consider putting over Parker is Chris Paul. But even then, TP has outdueled CP3 so many times that I'm not even sure I can put Chris Paul over Parker. Still, it's pretty close. Like 66 said, if Rose can come back and be that MVP type of player he was in 2011, he should be right up there with TP and CP3.
