Thanks Malhar! Now that brands are more comfortable on Pinterest, I am thinking we will see more brand contests. There are more tools available now that are making this easier and brands have other examples to see how to have a contest.  Also I am thinking we will see a ton of exclusive holiday promotions on Pinterest...special wishlists curated there, promotions, and collaboration between brands to maximize exposure.

Personally I want Pinterest to stay independent and eventually IPO if that makes sense. Facebook seems like the natural fit and it would make sense - they already sit in Facebook as a lifestyle app.

If Google happened to buy Pinterest things could change drastically because I do not think Facebook would allow them to sit inside their kingdom if Google purchased it.

Amazon, Apple could be interested if they really want be social. Microsoft maybe they have always had an interest...maybe Yahoo should step up:)

@AliRichards15 Great question. I think it is so much easier to use than Tumblr which is essentially a blogging platform and many people use it for photoblogging. With Pinterest you can express all of your interests under various boards and it is really easy to organize them. Also the ease of discovering others with similar interests is another benefit I see that Pinterest has over Tumblr. Using Tumblr as an outlet to share what you are Pinning on Pinterest would be great though because so many of the themes available compliment visual content.

My heart aches for you. I am so sorry that you have been dealing with this. You have a pulse on the various communities like no one else. You show and share your complete self to all - so willing to listen and help. I love your insight and no-nonsense way of telling a story. The way you weave Star Trek and Frodo into a blog and it all makes sense. I love what you have created with the social good series. The awareness for the Fugees. You started a fire in many of us.

It is unfortunate that we can never truly know the troubles of all the people that we interact with online or at the grocery store. Do take the time you need to get back to you and comfortable with the 'social' world again. You bring sunshine to the lives of so many do not cannot keep it from yourself.

Light & Love ~

I would add that when you start conversations about certain people and say, "I know them In Real Life." Other signs may be when your children or friends (because they know how addicted you are to sharing) "Do not retweet me." You have the Twitter chat list schedule on your calendar is another one.

@Mark_Robertson oops here is my 2 cents understanding of the Metamovement - reaction to people feeling that they no longer have control of their own destiny. Corruption and greed have become so intertwined between governments and corporations that there is no longer a voice for the common people.

2 years, 9 months ago on What I think about Occupy Wall Street

@margieclayman Thank you for expressing so clearly the issues of OWS. I do think that apathy has been an issue for us as Americans for some time. I have been following and reading @umairh for some time and reading about Metamovements (highly recommend following and reading his work) - while issues around the globe seem disconnected Arab Spring, riots in London, two underlying issue are the 2 'Ps' that you mentioned poor and increasing polarization.

Margie I know that you love history and I find this Abraham Lincoln quote so fitting for our times:

“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong it's reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.”

Hi Margie -

Great post and thank you for reminding me about GooglePlus. I kid but I have been neglecting G+ - I check in but have not been spending a lot time over there.

It will be interesting to see what brands are able to do - how the customer experience will change, how will they open up the apps to developers to enhance the experience.

Some time ago I wrote a GooglePlus wishlist: http://kellylieberman.wordpress.com/2011/07/17/my-g-wishlist-for-brand-pages/

The roll out of G+ brand pages could push Facebook to change brand pages sooner as well.

Important message about ROI as well - knowing how and where to spend time and resources is critical as more platforms are available.

@janwong I think the potential is HUGE for brands and the ability to target the right customers is a big plus - but does this also take away some transparency. If I Circle the problem customers and only share particular messages with them and 1st time, repeat are getting a different message does this somehow seclude or even stifling opinions? Do you think this could become an issue?

Hi Aaron -

Simply beautiful & brilliant.

One of my favorite quotes is from Elie Wiesel: "The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.”

#11 might be the hardest to overcome both professionally and personally - but the reward of true relationships makes it worth it.

@9INCHmarketing Great post and numbers that MUST be shared! I would say that #12 is....The conversation and in a sense marketing is happening whether the brand is a part of it or not. Consumers are connecting with each other across SM and mobile channels discussing you before they become a customer. They are engaging with your fans and your haters. They are checking you out and learning about you by observing how you engage with your community (or how you do not). Marketing is more of a balance now between being a brand ambassador and a consumer advocate.
