Bob this is SO helpful. I will be sending a link to this to all my clients. It reminds me of a pre-blog piece I sent in a print newsletter about "a hundred years ago" talking about the different between print newsletter and an emailed newsletters. The times they have changed. Thank you for so clearly articulating the points. Well done.

I only just realized the affiliate link on all my sites is a dead link! :-( Is it possible we still have commissions sitting somewhere?

I've made a lot of progress on my new new using your theme. The dev version is at http://www.makeover.hoffmangraphics.com. I have newer questions (my old ones, below, have been figured out).

1) I see on the PL homepage that the shelf section they're using allows for linking of the images but the version we have in Viewer does not. Any chance you'll add that in or tell us how to add them via code?

2) I'd really like to control the colors of the quote slider arrows.I haven't been able to get rid of the black with CSS yet.

Just started playing with this child-theme. Thanks for providing it for free. I have a couple of questions. The description above for Quotes says "The rotating quotes section comes with many options including the alignment, background and font size. Ideal for testimonials or simply famous quotes." But I do not see any way to control the font size or alignment and it does NOT take the assigned background color. Where is this being controlled? I'd like to also control the font used.

And it would be great if the shelf allowed us to put links on each of the images and to easily control the fonts. I'm figuring most of it out using Inspect Elements and custom code. Just sayin' it'd be nice if those options were built in. THANK YOU!

@Mama-Jen

It's not there yet but it's supposed to go up today. I was trying to decided between Navigable and Crack. I think I'll probably go with Crack. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I have it on first-hand experience that they're going to be making the old tools available to DMS. I was given a working copy. But even if not, it would be great to have that same functionality with the standard nav bar. It's a PITA to work with! I miss the framework and am trying to get up to speed on using DMS.

Is this compatible with DMS and if not, will you be updating it? Thanks.

@AdrianCastro@David Dabney "Everyone on Pagelines framework should be grandfathered into the DMS without paying for new licenses."

REALLY? I assumed that was case if one has a current Dev Plus license. I'm still in my first month with PL. If I don't get a free update to this then I'm just going to cancel and wait!

This sounds AWESOME! Having gone through a major change in a competitor's framework where they failed to provide an upgrade path I must ask... will our old PL sites transfer into this system? And if not, will you continue to support PL going forward? Can't wait to see this in action.

 @AJMorris Thanks AJ. I'll go check out CloudFlare. Very helpful as always.

Great timing. Just trying setup my first W3TC this morning when the link to this video arrived. So is using W3TC recommended even if no one is complaining about speed of the site? Does it serve any purpose at all if you're on shared hosting and not going to switch to VPS? And do the defaults, out-of-the-box, work OK or is it necessary to walk through everything to set it up to function? Thanks.

Weird. I posted yesterday and it's not here now. Maybe this thread is closed though I don't see any indication of that. Basically what I wrote is that what worked a year ago no longer works with v3.1.1. I don't know if there's a way to do this now in the VE or why the code that worked before doesn't. But I want to remove the label ie: "Category Archive" but NOT the actual title so the display:none is not an option.

This looks impressive. THANK YOU! Can't wait. I said HELLELEIAH a couple of times watching the video. The other two things I've been hoping for and have seen others asking for are the inspect element function and the easy hooks. Either of these features returning this version or ever?

Bob, this is a great overview. For those of us doing this for others, I can't help but wonder if there's a way to set this up once then use it on all sites? Seems like a lot of customizing is needed for each site. This topic would be a great one for our WP Meetup sometime.

I haven't tried Evernote but I love http://WorkFlowy.com for it's ease of use and simplicity. It may be unnecessary if you use Evernote. My newest free app is http://onepageonly.net for tracking my time for billing.
