Watch the L.A./Winnipeg game last night. Have you seen the way L.A. passes around the rock around? The longer the Sens hover around 10 - 7th the longer the mediocrity will continue. Next year they need to tank HARD for McDavid.

@Nichols6thSens @TrevorKluke Ah yes. I always forget the PR spin. It really feels like the team is stuck in limbo and needs to decide if they have the ponies in the system. We don't have a top 50 NHL forward at this point unless Spezza found the fountain of youth during the Olympic break. Looking at the teams that are realistic contenders:Chicago: Toews, Kane, Hossa, SharpPittsburgh: Crosby, Malkin, NealBoston: Bergeron, Lucic, KrejciLos Angeles: Kopitar, Carter, Richards/Brown

@KGrayDonald @LukePeristy@6thSensI think the cleaning staff forgot to dust my desk last night too...Keep fighting the good fight and enjoy the game. All the best!

Makes me ill to know that BM and the Euge think this team is a rental player away.
Are the Senators buyer or sellers? A bubble team with no first round pick. Can't wait for that blog post.

@6thSens @DefenseMinister But that's just it Nichols. Nobody can envision 3 years down the road. Promises have no place in pro sports.
3 weeks, 4 days ago on Tim Murray Wanted to be Bryan's Successor?
If the Sharks fail again this spring Doug Wilson could head north to the capital...no bloody chance. We are cursed to have ever gotten an NHL franchise in the capital. Players don't want to play here. Fans are fickle and the Bank is rarely sold out unless the Leafs or Habs are in town. If we had never become Sens fans we would have probably cheered for the Penguins, Red Wings or Avalanche, all power houses of the early and mid 90s. The joy of seeing our team hoist the cup would be memories of our youth and the future would look bright, blindingly in comparison to the mediocre . Now we have Melnyk's personal finances compounding the problems. Let's not be Leaf fans and stay loyal to a team that isn't doing everything it can to ice a winner. Let's trade in our heritage jerseys for more time on the golf course, woodworking, sailing or whatever else you can spend your money on. Mediocrity is fine for the government and maybe Ottawa has gotten used to it on and off the ice.
1 month, 4 weeks ago on Tim Murray - The Next GM of the Buffalo Sabres
"but if he had to make tough decisions on Bobby Ryan and Jason Spezza,
there are people out there like me, who would be receptive to seeing the
organization make tough decisions." I'm on that list. Spezza's back is too much of a risk. I would love to keep him on the team and watch him lead us to another cup run but realistically he probably doesn't have it in him. Focus on Ryan, trade Craig and Jason at the 2014-2015 deadline and go ALL IN for McDavid.
2 months, 4 weeks ago on Should the Sens Give Bryan Murray an Extension?
Fans would have lost their minds if Anderson was traded after the season he had. I believe the Sens office seem to take that in to consideration more than any team in the NHL.Is it fair to say that BeeMur just doesn't win that many trades? Let's see a trade record piece! you decide who won the deal and total up how many Brian has won.

3 months, 1 week ago on Matching Up For Del Zotto, Ottawa's Enticing Trade Package
I watched 'The Human Scale', a documentary about urban planning, on Sunday. It explains that for the last 50 years, cities have been planned to accommodate automobile traffic. Ottawa is a perfect example. Even a downtown arena would not be walkable for most of the ticket buying population. Barrhaven, Orleans and Kanata would all still need to drive to the games. If the arena was to be put downtown, it would be in my opinion CRUCIAL that the LRT stopped at it and also could handle the capacity. Let's start a "Friends of the Senators" website to promote the relocation.. Lead the charge Nichols. Call up Bruce. Make it happen!

@SteveHL They would sell a lot of Spezza jerseys but they also sold a lot of Antropov jerseys. Just sayin.
3 months, 3 weeks ago on 18 Games of Disappointment
@Nichols6thSens @TrevorKlukeAgreed. You know I'm as skeptical as they come. I believe I told you a month ago that our forwards fall short in comparison to the rivals down the 401. Have the Senators EVER had a top line forward with the following characteristics:-Point per game-30 Goal scorer-Grit-Clutch
bonus -Willing to fightThe only one that comes close is, you guessed it, Danny A (minus fighting). He's gone and the void remains. Karlsson, Spezza, and Ryan are amazing talents but I believe, at this moment, whether it is injury issues or experience, they are not suited to lead the team.
"Every NHL organization has its own unmistakeable shortcomings or weaknesses."The true contenders though, have enough talent to make up for them.
Nailed it. The city is a sprawling monster. I haven't looked it up but I'd guess Ottawa has the least amount of people per square km for any city over 700k people in the world.
Even if the arena was downtown I'd say at least 10k of the 19k fans would be driving to the game.
One more thing to consider is that the MTS Centre in he peg has a 15k capacity. Sellouts keep the demand high. When something is scarce the demand goes up, so law of human nature. I see it every year with the Bluejays for opening day. Everyone and their dog wants a ticket for that game when they hear it is sold out.

Ugh this just a painful reminder that the Sens organizational depth is just a euphemism for a lack of top end talent.P.S. If I had the time I'd go back to your UFA post from the summer to pull a Grapes and reference my comment about Mason Raymond. Where is the love brother?
Karlsson seems to have developed a little attitude problem. No time for photos with fans. Calling out the media for giving him praise. What's next? Crashing his VOLVO on the way to YOW?
