It makes sense to me. Mediators need to be impartial, so meeting with each side separately is an absolute must. What has appeared in the media up to this point is just PR crap. We haven't seen what's really being discussed at the table and we can't expect the mediators to magically know all the details. Walking into a war zone without being briefed by both sides would be naive and irresponsible.

I know it's frustrating, but that's how life is.

@IcyCup Since when is the clock they use for those replays NOT the official clock? What's the damn purpose of putting it there then? How come 0.1 on that clock was good for the Richards goal but not for this one?

The picture with the 0.00 they sent to MSG took so long to get to the booth it seems to me like it was just the NHL covering their asses.

Regardless of whether or not the stick was the initial contact with his face, the shoulder was there on the follow-through.

A hit to the head is a hit to the head, whether your fighting for position or not.

It's seems to me that the Rangers are purposefully naming a leader of the D and a leader of the forwards with Cally captaining them all. They decided to choose the best player from each position. It really makes a lot of sense. I feel like with Dubi it was Captain or bust. He could still get an A or even the C in the future though. Hopefully it'll be a while before that though. I like our lettered players.

I'm loving this roster. I was hoping to see the new Captain leading this youngin's team, but I'll be just as happy to see Dubi out there leading them into battle. With the help of The King of course.

Hockey is finally here! Can't wait for the game tomorrow. I'll send pictures.

Well gee whiz. I didn't know you were in Massapequa! You can't live more than 10 minutes from me. I'm in Pequa too.

Glad to see that the best NYR blog on the net is based in my hometown!

@Ranger Dave@KevinDeLury I put my full support behind this bet. We the readers end up with a great post either way. "Why the Rangers are Badass," or "Why Kevin is Awesome."

It's Win-Win.

@KevinDeLury It takes defensemen longer to develop into their prime. It takes much longer to perfect the defensive side of the game, and because Stall is so thorough, he hasn't devoted sufficient time to developing his offense yet. Obviously he's been working on it, as seen last year. We can only assume, he will be better in that respect this year. I don't think he'll start to level off offensively for another year or two.

3 years, 5 months ago on Would Dubi Make A Better Captain Than Cally? | June

I posted here a while back why I think Dubi is better for the C, and this was the exact reason. He's willing to do anything to win. He'll fight, he'll score, he'll make a clutch pass (see many Dubi assists to Cally this season). I think his talent and grinding work ethic are very underrated by Rangers fans. With the C I think the Rangers would get even grittier. A little emotion added to your game-plan can make a big difference (see 1980 Olympics). I think the Rangers need some fire in their Captain.

I vote Dubi.

I think one of his biggest problems was his skating this season, so I'm all for giving him another shot. Underhill and training camp will whip him into shape.

That is unless we need his cap hit to bring in a big gun.

So far #3 had the edge for me. I think it would be even cooler if it used Minnesota colors.

Well... Against the Ducks he was absolutely horrendous. Turnover after turnover. Sure the whole team had issues that night, but Avery was the worst out of all of them. He's ALWAYS making high risk plays that lead to more problems than gains. He needed to sit. I hope he can come back to his old self. He's a very creative player, but he can't survive on skill and creativity alone. We have many more skilled players in the system. He needs to get others off their game to be successful, otherwise it's a few very good shifts where his creativity shines, and a whole mess of shifts where his creativity gets him into trouble.

I'm with Torts on this as well. Even with all the penalties the Rangers were able to keep themselves afloat. If it weren't for the crap calls we would have still been tied at 1 and would have had MANY extra minutes of even strength play, which despite the shots numbers I think we more or less dominated as the game progressed. Tough break on one call. If not for that boarding call I think the outcome would have been different.

And on a side note... The call against Dubi has got to be one of the worst interference calls I've ever seen. He barely moved, and didn't even see the guy. If Dubi had been the one to fall over, do you think it would have been called?

Where the hell has Arthur Staple of Newsday been? Under a rock? Stall has been a go-to defenseman for longer than just this season.

On the bright side, it's not a huge traumatic injury and they caught it before it became one. Can't wait to be wearing my shiny new Dubi heritage jersey when he comes back!

They most certainly will need him. I've said it since his rookie year—he's got the skill and potential to be a top forward in the NHL. He's also got the heart to lead the team to victory in the playoffs.

Dubi is the man.

The words "Drury" and "wide" occur far to often in the same sentence.

It's time for the Captain to be benched or scratched to wake him up.

This is one reason I think Dubi is the guy to get the C when Drury is gone. He's got everything you want in a captain. He's got the talent, he's got the grit, he's got the energy, and most importantly, the leadership. Mentoring is a HUGE part of team leadership. It's a determining factor in the locker room which is where the letters actually matter. Oh... and he's a player that can do all that and still drop the gloves to defend his teammates.
